All-Star Resort to MK and then Monorail to Epcot?

Hi,

We'll be staying at the All-Star Music Resort from the 18th-24th. As its the first Disney trip for the 2 people who will be with me, I want to make sure they get to ride the monorail..

As we're staying at a Disney resort, we have buses to take us from the hotel to the parks. I remember that the MK to Epcot monorail ride is beautiful. If we take a bus from the hotel to MK, where do we go for the Monorail to Epcot? How much time does it "take up" of our morning? I think the best way to start off at Epcot is with the monorail ride, but would love to hear your comments..

After you get off the bus head towards the MK, over to your left are the monorail stations. There is one that goes to the resorts and the TTC, and then there is the express monorail that just goes to the TTC. Once you get to the TTC you then take the monorail to Epcot.
I'm not sure how long it will take, I've never timed it, it all depends on how soon you catch each monorail.
If you do not want to go to Epcot, but just want to ride the monorail, just the monorail to the TTC is a round trip ride back to the MK.

I agreed it can take up to 45 minutes.
Last week, we had breakfast at MK, then took the monorail to TTC and from TTC took the monrail to Epcot.

The best view is from the front of the monorail as you go to EPCOT as the car makes a circle sweep of EPCOT before pulling into the station. Ask the cast members at the ticket & transportation center - when you arrive at the station for the EPCOT monorail if you can ride up front. It is well worth the wait for the next train if someone is already waiting for the front car. It is limited to 4 people.

I believe all the construction is done now. During the construction, you couldn't do that.

However, they are talking about going first thing in the morning. Sometimes the Express Monorail doesn't open until 10am, so everyone is routed to the Resort Monorail which does require you to go all the way down the ramp and back up again.

I agree the monorail is a great way to SEE WDW but why would you take a bus by Epcot to go Epcot by monorail.
Why not take a bus to Epcot and then take the Monorail to MK or poly/cr/gf for lunch or dinner. It may be me but to go all the way to MK just to go back to Epcot. Will you not be going to MK? Why not take the Monorail back to Epcot from MK then bus it back to your resort one evening?

And I do agree ask to ride in the front of the Monorail the drivers are usually friendly and the view is awesome. We take the Monorail to MK then the boat to WL or Poly or the GF for lunch/dinner.

Yes.

Magic Kingdom resort bus stop or turnstiles to Epcot turnstiles or bus stop, you take two monorails, or take the ferry and then the Epcot monorail.

If you are at either Magic Kingdom or Epcot you can also come out and ride the monorail in the middle of the day when things are less crowded.

Seashore's response is correct but (to me) a little misleading.

The "yes" is for riding the monorail without needing a ticket.

The monorail lines come together at the TTC. So you need to go from MK to TTC to ride the Epcot monorail.

Three different monorail "beams", with stops as follows:

Express - TTC -> MK -> TTC
Resort - TTC -> Polynesian -> Grand Floridian -> MK -> Contemporary -> TTC
EPCOT - TTC -> E.P.C.O.T. -> TTC

So your absolute best, if a bit time-consuming, option is to take the bus directly to Epcot, then ride a full-circle on the Epcot monorail. Why? Because from MK to Epcot, the monorail first circles through Future World.

I appreciate all the comments. We have dinner reservations and a schedule for every day of our trip. Thanks to the help I've received here, we'll definitely take the monorail to Epcot..

We leave Saturday morning on a honeymoon - Disney is part of it and we'll be there from the 18th-24th. For those of you worried about a few hour drive or flight, without saying where I'm leaving from (I will when I'm back), we have a 5 hour bus ride, a 30 minute taxi, 4 hour flight, 11 hour flight, 1 hour drive (to Ft. Lauderdale), then a 3.5 hour drive to Orlando a week after arrival in Ft. Lauderdale!
