I just came back from my Disney trip yesterday. Had a rough start to the trip....first impression of the resort....honestly I didn't care for it. It seemed more dated than the other all stars. I love all other values, but this one did nothing for me. That was my first impression anyway. My first night at music I woke up all excited to start my day. I started off with a shower....as I step out of the shower I look over to the bed to discover a bug on the sheet! I freaked out a bit, but after calming down, I snapped a pic and showed the front desk manager on my way out. Prior to that, i tried to trap the bug under the plastic cup they provide, but no luck. So on my way out I spoke to a manager and they said they'd investigate and get back to me. I went along my merry way to MK, excited about the opening ceremony.
As I get off the bus at MK, just before the opening ceremony, the manager calls me. I honestly didn't think it was bed bugs....never saw one before so I wouldn't know. But yep, its bed bugs!
I honestly never thought i'd come across those suckers in my life, since im the type that checks the mattress, sheets, etc. I did a thorough check! Clearly not good enough though. Where do they hide? I don't get it. I was devastated, grossed out, etc. You have no idea. This explains the bites on my legs...I thought it was from mosquitoes! What a sad way to start my vacay.
The manager was very kind though, she granted my request to be moved to another resort (sports). They sent in all my stuff for "treatment" and tried to make the rest of my stay as magical as possible. The manager was really great. No complaints there.
The only good thing that came out of all this was that at least now I know what these suckers look like! And im grateful I saw this on my first night, or at all! Imagine if I hadn't seen the bug and suffered all week with bites and such, and even took one of these suckers home with me?
Just beware folks...check mattresses and furniture carefully. Heck, I thought i was careful but clearly I suck at checking for bed bugs.
These things do happen, and it can happen at any resort for sure. Most of you who remember my posts know that i've always been all gung-ho about the value resorts...I still am. Im hardly in the room so to me it makes no sense to pay for a pricier resort. I'll continue to stay at values (and at times the moderates). I'll just have to educate myself a little more on how to properly check for bed bugs. Just wanted to share my experience with others. If you have any questions let me know.
Here is what they look like! Yuck!
This was me trying to be clever and trap the bug so that I can bring a manager back to my room to show them...but no luck. I couldn't find a contraption heavy enough to trap that sucker. It escaped.
