All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Thanks y'all. I love the boards, but sometimes the more I read the more I begin to 2nd guess my choices.

Will I be disappointed? The food court at POP was pretty good, but I think I read on one of these threads that the ASMu food court is smaller.

We like the food court, too. I thought the variety was better than POFQ where we stayed in October.

When I was at ASMu in August 2008 they had a really nice make your own salad-the CM actually made it for you but you told them what you wanted in it. It was really nice-I think you could get it with chicken, shrimp or salmon and had lots of nice things to go in it too.

You can also easily walk to ASMo or ASSp for change of pace as all 3 have a little different variety as far as I remember.

Now that Pop doesn't have the frozen coke machine there isn't as much to miss.:rotfl:

We have All Star Music booked (and paid for in full today!) We (hubby and I) are going down for a 5 night, 6 day romantic getaway. We requested a king room (fingers crossed!)

We are bringing our own unbreakable french press coffee pot and a Rival Hot Pot to heat water so we can drink our own coffee from home.

Can't wait for our trip!!!

I apologize if this question has been asked already, but I was just wondering if anyone that has stayed in the family suites at ASMu could tell me if there was a fan in the bedroom (like a wall unit found in many hotels)? My DH and I sleep with a fan on every night for white noise, so I was just wondering if this is something I will need to pack. Thanks!

I just saw this. I am just back from a week in a family suite.
In our suite the bathroom fan was connected to the light switch and goes on with the light. It was also VERY quiet.
I would plan to take a white noice machine. We had ours.

Thanks! :goodvibes I will have to look at white noise machines I guess. DH and I have a VERY hard time sleeping wihout a fan on. Or maybe we will just be so drop-dead tired that it won't matter! ;)

Is it true that there are never any pins, codes, or discounts offered for the family suites? Even during times like the Wonderful Weeks of Disney?
We have a pin right now that we are using for the family suites. We are actually going to do a split stay between Ft. Wilderness cabins and the ASMU suites. We haven't done either one before and couldn't make a decision, so we are doing both!

Have fun at both. Our family stayed at the Cabins (we always camped before) and had a wonderful time. It's a vacation within a vacation there!! It was August 2008. DH, me, DS20, DD16, DS13. Plenty of room. We had the Murphy Bed (pull down) and the kids had the room. Mousekeeping even did the dishes everyday--whew!! Loved the deck outside in the morning while the kids slept in so quiet as the World just begins to wake up. We also rented the cart and had a blast with that. A bit pricey, but oh so worth it for us. Great memories of great times.

We will stay just one day in April at the Music (first time). Sounds like fun!! We'll move onto the CSR. What fun that is!!

Enjoy your time at the Cabins!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

Probably in here somewhere, but I'm on limited time. Can someone tell me the fax # to send a room request to pretty please? Thanks :worship:

So, we have stayed at the Sports our last 2 trips. In August we are staying at the Music in a non-preferred room.

Tell me what your favorite buildings/locations are at the Music and why.
We don't have any little ones in our party so if getting a "quiet" location means a bit of a walk to buses/food court, that is OK.

TIA!

I'm one of the rare folks who asks for Country Fair. It's not actually a longer walk than Rock or Broadway--it looks/feels longer, but, if you take the paths to the centre elevators it's exactly the same distance--and it's quieter. One of the buildings in Rock is very quiet (we had a great sleep on the first floor on New Year's Eve), but, the other can get loud and it's tough to request one and not the other. Likewise, one of the buildings in Broadway faces the back and should be quieter. But, reportedly there are early morning disturbances in the parking lot.

ITA Country is definitely the quietest section of the resort, especially if you can get a room further away from the piano pool (which was taken over by the cheerleaders last weekend -- but this resulted in quiet time starting at 10 pm instead of 11 pm ) It is no further away from the lobby than Rock or Broadway.

Jazz! It's in between the 2 pools, but closest to the front. Quiet too!

Last year we stayed in Jazz but after walking around the entire resort we decided that Broadway was really unique and attractive. Once you walk past Jazz nothing seems that far back on the property. As usual when you get there and walk around it's not as large or spread out as it looks on the map.

Thanks for letting me know that the all star movies have not been refurbished yet. Now I am torn between doing Pop or Movies. Like the theme better at Movies. Also if Pop is newer than Movies why is it being refurbished first??
