All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

DH & I stayed at ASMu in January 2008 in a standard room in the Jazz Building - it was a 1st floor room almost to the end, but for us it was the perfect location. Quick distance to pool, food court & the bus transportation & super close to our car (for packing & unpacking). We'd request the same spot in a heartbeat. There were suites next to our room and a little playground of some sort on the back side of our wing. It was really peaceful & quiet. 100% better than what we'd had at POP in September. :cutie:

One thing that I loved about where our room was back on our September trip was that it was so quiet. Despite the fact that we had quite a hike to get there (we were in the Country Fair building, furthest back to the left side), I loved it since it was so peaceful at night which made for a very well-rested family in the morning.:goodvibes

Hi everyone, My DD has wanted to stay at a value as she loves the look of the bright themeing. I have booked 7 nights here before we spend 7 nights at the Poly.
I was wondering how "Disney" the themeing is? Is there any character based themeing? We could not get into movies which In Know is very Disney.

I've heard you can call Mousekeeping and request more hangers. There will be four of us in the room so we can't exactly live out of our suitcase due to lack of space.

How many hangers can you ask for? Should we just bring some cheap metal ones from home? We're mailing a package already so we could just stuff some in there.

Anyone have any possible information on when prices for January of 2009 might be out for All-Star Music?

Perhaps any guesses based on when last year's prices might have been released .
I have also heard conflicting stories on if Martin Luther King Jr is classified as a "holiday" season for prices.

Thanks to any and all who answer this. (cannot start own thread, need at least 10 posts first so I am hoping this is appropriate location for these questions!)

:welcome: The 2008 resort rates were announced sometime in early August of 2007; I believe the 2007 rates were announced in August 2006, but I can't swear to it. The memory's not so good......

According to allearsnet.com, EDITING: (hopefully before you see this, I was wrong) January 18-20, 2008 were "holiday" pricing for MLK weekend at the value resorts. The holiday rate for 2008 was $92/night, which is $10/night higher than the normal value season rate for the rest of January and into February. They may have considered MLK for the "holiday" pricing at the buffets and all-you-can-eat meals, I can't seem to find that. That charge was an additional $4 for adult and $2 per child over the regular meal price, but doesn't affect the room rates in any way.

I hope this answers your question!

Steph

I am getting so excited again. It sounds like we will be happy at ASMu. Can't decide if we should get a peferred room or not. It's just my DH and me . I'm just thinking about the distance to the main building.

My daughter (22) and I were there 5/5-10 and loved it! We had a Standard room and had the AAA agent request Jazz for us. That is where we were put, and it was great.

We were in the half of the building closest to the front (and Calypso). Had a room on the third floor, back of the building and it was extremely quiet. Not far to the bus/lobby/food court at all. I will say, the Broadway, Rock and Country Fair ARE back quite aways.

The room wasn't huge or fancy, but neat, very clean and attractive, in a themed sort of way. <G> Seriously, it was great. And by the time we drug ourselves back to the room each night we were so beat that we just wanted a soft bed anyway!

Hope it's ok for me to post this hear since it's at ASMusic...
Were starting up a fridge swap (assuming we can fill up some slots quickly). Anyway if you have a trip coming up in June or beyond...come check us out!

You should also PM the moderator running the Sticky about fridge swaps on the main Disney Resort section on here so people can get to it easily and know its available.

I would say, just so you know that you will have enough, to bring some from home... I know that usually at the dollar store they have a pack of 10 (the plastic cheap ones) for like a buck! And if you're already sending stuff down, might as well!! Have an awesome trip!!! :goodvibes

Greetings everyone!

I've not had a chance to read the entire thread, but can anyone tell me if ASMu still has all the extra activities around the pool?

We were there last October and loved all the contests and Trivia games.

hello,
we were at asmus from april 5-12th  and yes they had something going on everynight.they had wii bowling, scavenger hunts, dance contestand all the kids seemed to te havig a blast. the girls who do the activities seem to really enjoy them and are good with the children. as a side note, we were in the calypso building ,on the right of the pool.we were on the 3rd floor in a family suite and we we not bothered by the noise formt he pool. we were all so tired after a day at a park we'd shower and the kids would crash within 15 mins of laying down...wonderful resort and would stay there again.:woohoo:

Disney Jazz,

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure when we are going back, but we loved it at the ASMu but the activities made it extra special! Thanks again! :)

just got back from WDW and we stayed at All Star Music..

We paid the extra to stay in a preferred room and our room was in the Calypso section.. We absolutely loved it and thought it was definitely worth it to pay that little extra per night to have a closeby room..

We were very impressed with the room and thought the theming was wonderful!..

I definitely see us staying at this one again :thumbsup2

The only complaint I had was the buses to and from the parks..

Thanks for your feedback. What was the complaint about the buses? Too crowded? Didn't show up enough? We normally drive but this time we're flying and will be our first bus experience in 9 years....

The magical express bus was fine.. but I will say when we got to Orlando and we went to ME the lines were quite large.. they moved very fast.. and they had tons of buses there waiting for everyone...

The buses I was referring to was the ones that take you to the parks and back.. Sometimes ASMU had their own bus and when they did the buses were fine.. but when we had to share with the other value resorts the lines were horrible... but again the parks were extremely crowded.. Yesterday at HS we got to the line to go back to the hotel and the line was very very long.. again it was for all the values.. we waited and waited and no buses were coming.. we finally took the stop that was next to ours at Epcot and rode the bus there and then went to the ASMU bus stop and grabbed a bus back to the resort from there..

all in all we had a great time and we really liked the hotel.. It was smaller than POP but ran very smooth..

Any questions just ask..

We've been deciding weather to stick with our old faithful- the FW cabins, or try something new and go with a suite at asmu- and we finally decided to go for it !:rotfl: with a suite. with a teenager girl among us I think having the 2 bathrooms - won out :wizard: :lovestruc :wizard: :lovestruc
