All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Subbing! We will be at Music September 1-7 2008! This will B our first stay at all star Music :)

heading there in Aug,I can't wait ,love reading all the great info you guys are passing along, thank you so much

I leave in 6 days and can't wait I just hope we don't have problems with the busses worst case we have our car.

Does anyone know if there is a little store, gift shop with pop & chips & such? If so, do you know if they sell bottles of wine?

We stayed at POR last year & I loved coming back to the room after a day at the parks & sipping on a nice, cold glass of wine!! Was hoping to do the same this year!

Is there a All star music PHOTO ONLY thread?? TIA!

I tried to start an All Stars Photo Thread a while ago (Pop has a huge photo thread!) but it died out as few (if any) people posted.

If someone here with good photos would like to start an All Stars (not just Music--all of the AS) Photo thread, that would be great!! :thumbsup2 I know that there are a lot of great photo opportunities at the All Stars.

I am currently reading through this entire thread & as I go, questions keep popping into my head so please bare with me on the multiple posts!

I noticed that the "one price" mug looked very generic. I guess they don't do different mugs anymore for different hotels? Does this mean that if we buy the mug & want to spend time at a different hotel (Boardwalk for example or maybe one of the other All Stars) that we can use our mugs elsewhere?

I wish there was one, I wont be at ASMu till Sept, I plan to take photos of the resort then.

There is a food court, but not sure about wine sorry I wasn't any help really.

I know why does Pop get so many photos. Sure I love Pop as well but come on All Star Fans, lets see some pics. I may sneak over there on my upcoming trip and take some. I like the idea of all All Stars, that may work better. Good thinking Pixie

Good question, I honestly do not know the answer to this, I know its for the same trip only but can you fill it up at any resort??

If you use the mug during the stay in which you bought the mug, I believe it's OK to "resort hop" with the mug for that trip. Here's a thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1832305

that recently discussed this very issue.

Disclaimer: I usually avoid mug threads, but for some reason I was sucked into this one. :lmao:

Wow you did get sucked into that one didn't you. I will have to ask when I go down to Pop in a week if they can be used anywhere on WDW property or only the resort you purchase them at. I will ask a Food Service Manager. We will see.

It was like quicksand. :rotfl2:

Anyway, let's say you buy your mug at Pop at breakfast time but drive over to AS Music to have lunch. I'm pretty sure that using your Pop mug is OK to use at AS Music during the trip in which you bought that mug, but if you do ask let us know what answer you get. (Also, the mug you buy at Pop is identical to the mugs you'd buy at any resort except CSR. So if you're getting a Nescafe :) then how do they even know where you bought the mug, KWIM?)

To keep this post OT: Does anyone know if apple juice is available at AS Music? I do wish that the All Star food courts would offer Icees.

ETA: I'm getting sucked in again! This is my last post on the topic. : )

Whenwe were there last they were in calypso and jazz only don't know if thats still the case! But you can request anything your lil heart desires but remember it is only a request! Even if you think it's preferred and you want it request it cause if they can't give it to you then you will probably get the next closest thing to it!

The family suites are in the Calypso and Jazz buildings-the 4 closest to the food court. There are no preffered family suites so you can request anything-have them add your resquest to your reservation as the rooms are assigned before you arrive (but they won't tell you your room# until the room is ready).

The Family Suites are in the Jazz and Calypso buildings, building numbers 1 and 10 are Calypso and 2 and 9 are Jazz. These four buildings are the closest to the front of the resort (Melody Hall, with the front desk and food court, and the bus stops).

Here's a map...

You can't pay for a requested room (there isn't a preferred catagory of the Family Suites), but you can request whatever you like. Just keep in mind that it is a request. It just depends - I've read that checking in early helps and checking in late helps, so who knows. I requested building 10, not facing the pool, and we did get both requests. We had a first floor room that opened onto a lawn. It was nice and quiet. I didn't want to be near the pool because I was worried about the noise (daytime naps).

Have a great trip!

I know that they sell beer, and I'm pretty sure they sell wine but I'm not 100% sure.

What you could do is splurge on a nice bottle of wine from one of the countries in Epcot and take that back to your room. AKL has a nice selection of wine, too.

Another option is to have wine delivered to your room. Garden Grocer does deliver alcohol. It's not on their order form, but you can type your wine order in the comments section and fax them your ID to show you're over 21. You have to have a minimum $40 order, so if you opt for the wine delivery keep that in mind. They have all kinds of groceries, bottled waters, etc. that'll come in handy during your trip.

Thanks Pixiedust! That's a great idea about Epcot, WS! Hadn't even thought of that. I like the other ideas too! Thanks!

I really hope someone can answer this for me. The search isn't working for me right now... Does ASMu provide life jackets for the kids at the pools?? Would we be able to bring our own for DD to use? I know that we can't use our own floaty things, but wasn't sure if life jackets were different.

Thanks!!
