We are planning on staying at the All stars music family suite next year. Are the mattresses comfortable? I recently read on a FB thread that the mattresses are horrible. I have a bad back so this gives me pause. We haven't booked anything yet. Thanks!

Not true...

My daughter just came back and the mattresses are great. All of Music has had their rooms refurbished in the last few years. FWIW I wouldn't trust what one person posts in a FB thread, because here if somebody posts something that isn't true you'll see the push back. There may have been a time when other resorts had gotten new mattresses more recently, but I wouldn't say that there has been a time in the past 20 years when any of the mattresses at WDW were horrible.

Mattresses are such a very personal choice, one person will post it's to soft and another person likes it. Not to mention, we had a couple of rooms where 1 mattress felt great while the other was not so great. My preference is for firm mattresses, so if I see a post where they thought the mattress was too hard I count that as a plus. LOL

Exactly! We always stay at AoA and from day 1 of the resort opening, people posted about how great the mattresses were on the bed in the bedroom of the suites. We stayed there the first time and I was in so much pain and felt like my hips were bruised (I'm a side sleeper) and my back was killing me because the mattress was so firm. I felt like I was sleeping on the floor. From that point on I had housekeeping put a mattress topper on the bed every time we stayed there (actually, I had them fold the mattress topper in half and keep it on my side of the bed because I needed *that* much cushioning). Disney replaced those mattresses a few years ago with a less firm one and now I love the mattresses they have (I think they were the same -- or at least felt the same -- at Pop Century, so I'm guessing they use the same mattresses across all of the Value resorts.) I no longer need the mattress topper. And not surprisingly, my husband thought the hard-as-rock mattress was perfect and finds the new mattress too soft. It's all a personal preference.

Exactly this! They can vary even within a room. In general, I think Disney tried to put in an average, decent quality mattress in all their rooms, but everyone is different and the amount of wear can vary.

I'm with your DH😂

Yes, and they are queen size unlike the full size ones that WDW is being cheap in the DVC studio rooms:sad2:

I think this depends on the exact resort and room size as to what will comfortably fit.
For example I think SSR has a full size pull down but Riviera and the new POLY Island Tower have queen pull downs.

Most of the refurbed studios got full and if they can get queens in the smaller value rooms than they can get them into the studios. At least with the newer (RR and POLY Tower) they got it right.
