All Star Movies shut down- anyone know what's happening?

We were at the Marriott World Center earlier this month for a convention. On the evening of 11/7, the guest speaker to our group was Vice President Biden. I assure you that property was locked down to the hilt. The parking garage was closed. Elevators were taken out of service. Entire wings of the hotel were off limits.

There are various reasons why the place might be on lock down but I'm quite confident that Disney wouldn't go to that extreme without good reason.

It doesn't sound wrong at all. The only reason I can think of for them to shut down the resort is for a security threat or breach. If that's the case, they absolutely should be restraining people.

They should be giving some sort of explanation. I'd be interested to know if it is some sort of threat, because that would be the only thing acceptable. They shouldn't be locking down guests with no reason.

I was told it was some sort of test the county is doing. I was able to walk to music to get a bus to mAgic kingdom for the party. Lots of police cars from what I could see.

If it is a test, they are handling it badly. I work at a mall, and we have all sorts of lovely tests and training. But they tell you about it ahead of time, because they don't want people panicking.

We had a security incident at Boardwalk last month. They had Disney security and a dozen sheriff cars out on the waterway by the bridge that goes over to the Swan. Someone called in a report of a suspicious package. It was false alarm but it was taken very serious.

That seems likely given recent events, but if it's a county thing and the OP seems to say they aren't allowing anyone to go anywhere, I wonder why it was okay for you to leave? Weird.

I'll respectfully disagree. If someone tells me to stay where I am, I'll stay where I am. I won't ask a bunch of questions. I would trust that there is a valid reason for the lockdown and I'd wait for clearance to be given.

Back to don't leave the room per phone cast member. Freaked out kid. Trying to hold it together mom

While it must be frustrating to get no explanation, you need to trust Disney (or another establishment if that is the case) at least for a bit of time. I might be a little scared for sure but keep your composure for the kids' sakes, they shouldn't even know this is happening. Can you use the pool or arcade or must you stay in your rooms?

They should give an explanation so people don't panic and come up with doomsday type explanations on their own. Or get someone so stressed that they need medical intervention.

The school system I work for requires one "announced" and one "unannounced" lock-down drill each school year. The idea is that the unannounced one is a more accurate drill because we don't know it's coming and have to think and act fast without knowing whether there is an actual threat.

I can imagine some guests at WDW having a fit if they think they are missing an ADR or park time due to a security drill. Whereas, if they think there may be an actual situation, they are more likely to cooperate and not raise a fuss.

I hope it's just a drill.

Idk the guards said we advise you go back to your room but they suggested to walk through the parking lot to music so I took that option. I wasn't under the impression I was being forced to stay.

Called front desk. Advising all to stay in rooms.

I've always heard that when you call the "front desk" you're not actually speaking to someone on-site, the calls are routed through a call center. You could be talking someone in Alaska, for example.

With that in mind, have you recently been able to ask a CM in person, actually face to face, what is going on?

And are you in MK now? Everything is fine there?

I was told to go back by 2 cast members and yes the call I placed was to a call center who did call the front desk here she said.

I don't care about the reservation as much as mine and my kids safty. I will do as I'm told and go from there but is is very unnerving for me. Like very.
