You must have some pretty relaxed hummingbirds where you live. The ones I see here in KY are very active/skittish, never wanting to stay still.

Speaking for Texas...I think it's too hot here ; they need to rest a little more. Pretty sure that's the reason the hummingbird in the picture flew into the grocery store!

It's true they don't sit long, I have a lilac bush next to my feeder and they like to perch there too for about 2.3 seconds at a time!
Little known fact: Hummingbirds don't have legs and so cannot walk.. they fly or perch. Perhaps hop too??
