Let me just say I guess there is a place in the world for the big box stores but it is so frustrating sometimes shopping at these stores. I'm trying to finish some yard work and I needed a hoe. So I pop off to Home Depot find the area where the hoes should be and they have everything but hoes! Shovels, spades, axes etc. So I ask the next orange vest I see and I get "Sorry Im not familiar with this dept let me find someone to help you. OK honesty is good, but no one shows up. So I go to the front desk and they page someone over to the dept. So about 15 mins after this starts a guy comes over and says, " Oh ya we got some hoes up top, SEE!" There they are way up on the top shelf. So now we need a forklift. They close off the aisle with gates, saftey first, again a good thing. By the time I get my hoe its 35 minutes later and now I have to wait in line to cash out.

I miss my local hardware stores!

Sorry about the vent!

With the luck I have, I'd have picked the wrong line where the cash register broke or the person's check or credit card wouldn't have gone through either! Always amazes me the simplest tasks turn into the most monumental! Now, go use that hoe before you get out of the mood!;) :D

My dh feels the same way Kev. He likes the personal one on one service he gets at a hardware store. Unfortunately they seem to be few and far between :(

I find the men who work in Home Depot to think all women are idiots and that we can't possibly know what we're talking about

Do you not have any local hardware stores near you any longer, Klombar? I still like the True Values and Aces, must be 30 of them within 10 mile radius. You are right, they are good.

The reason the big stores take over and the little guys close is because most people would rather shop at the big chain store. This is across all types of businesses. My DH is an optometrist in private practice. He has to compete with Lens Crafters in the Mall. Somehow people think bigger is better, until they want a donation to the yearbook or local festival, etc. Then they come to the local guy but shop at the big store. WE try to always deal with the smaller, local guys to keep them in business. (I will now get down off of my soapbox.)

Thankfully I've had pretty good svc at my home depot! I probably just jinxed myself! lol

8 dollar hoe? Things must be much cheaper in Maine....

Home Depot can be frustrating or any of those "super" hardware places, but my dh loves to go and visit them :)

I could say something really nasty here. Well not really nasty, ok I can't resist

$8.00 is pretty cheap for a ho isn't it?

Sorry I couldn't help myself

Hehehehe, I thought the same thing;)

And Kev, I don't know a thing about hoes :smooth:

My DH was on his way to Home Depot today, but, turned around and came back because he forgot his wallet. Asked me if I wanted to go, I said, NO THANKS I HATE THAT PLACE!

VICKY! Gotta be quicker on the delete button!

I could have said weed whacker!
