All Good Things Come To Those That Wait - A Pre-trip Report

We did Cartagena on the EBPC on the Magic in'08. We were greeted in the port by traditional dancers, then went on a tour almost exactly the same as you! The monastery very indeed very beautiful!

If you had to choose now that you know what you do, would you choose the tour again?

I would love to cruise with you too, I know it's just a matter of time for dates to cross :goodvibes

I thought long and hard about the WBTA and it was a hard decision to come to. For a while I knew it should be the Fantasy or the WBTA and the Fantasy won out per mom's request. I'm still quite sad about it but know it was the right decision from the financial point of view.

I am sure eventually we will get the chance to cruise together.

I was in a similar position in 2010. In my case it was the EBTA and the issue was leave as I suddenly had not enough for what I had planned that year to some reshuffling of the roster. So I know how painful that was. Of course, on the cruise that we did end up taking instead, we met two people who have since become very dear friends. So I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

I love the look of that tour, I think those historical buildings are so beautiful.

I hope you can find an emerald without much trouble :)

I can't wait to see all the history and I am hoping that I will find a nice emerald.

Nice looking tour for Cartagena and I'm jealous that you get to go emerald shopping. Hope you find something real nice. :thumbsup2

Thanks.

The Roy O Disney suite is only $48,000 on the Denmark to Dover cruise you like. Quick get in early to avoid disappointment...

That is crazy money. I let you in on secret. I did get the chance to visit the Roy O Disney on our Hawaii cruise and I did not even like it. I found it very dark and oppressive.

5 weeks to go

I can't believe that in 5 weeks I will be on the Wonder and watch the world go by as we sail away from Miami.

The good thing is, my preparations are almost done. I still need to pre-order the photo CD, but that has not been released yet for pre-order. I have printed all the documents and confirmations apart from the hotel voucher, which I will not get until 26th April and the itinerary, which I will print nearer the time once we have the dates and times for all the DIS activities.

I have also nearly finished my holiday shopping. I just have to get a couple of things for my Secret Mickey. Now I just have to wait patiently for everything to arrive.

OK, caught back up again. I love those vest and tie combinations. You and Graham are going to look so sharp!

We have to figure out what to do in Cozumel this Fall. Fran is hoping to feel well enough to be up for some snorkeling sounds like they have quite a variety of things to offer there.

I do have to say that I don't know much about Cartagena, but sticking with Disney excursions is probably a pretty good idea in a dangerous country.

I hope that you can get the EBTA and the WBTA that is perfect to get round trip flights that way!

I have to admit I'm looking at the 2 night and 3 night cruises round trip out of San Diego. If we did a B2B we wouldn't have to check out of our room if we could get the same room for both trips. That would be two easy cruises to get us closer to Platinum and San Diego is only a hop skip and a jump from where we live. It's breaking the cost of it to Fran. The 2 night is $1300 for two and the 3 night is like $1700. Sounds like sort of a lot of money for 5 nights!

Chankannab is great and we have not even scratched the tip of the iceberg yet in terms of what there is to see and do. I hope that Fran is well enough to experience this. If you do end up going, let me know and I can give you a couple of helpful hints.

The prices for those short cruises make my eyes water. There is obviously demand there. This year's two night cruise to nowhere is nearly full.

Definitely would do it again! Tour guide was able to talk history, and I don't think I would have felt safe on my own there. I got cute little handmade boxes showing the balconies with flowers in that shopping area. My sister bought a cute package of coffee as a gift, but the soldiers ripped it open to check for drugs on return to the ship!

How do you know that it is nearly full?

That is good to know. I am glad you mentioned the issue your sister had with the coffee. Graham may well have been tempted to get some coffee. He just has to wait until we get to Hawaii to get some Kona coffee.

Hopefully 5 weeks will fly by and you're cruising in no time! :cool1:

Yes, the time will just fly by. I have quite a lot going on between now and then. Of course, you will get to go on the Wonder tomorrow. Look after her for us. Are you already in Miami?

I do like to dress for dinner on my cruises and I think it also looks nice in the photos. On the whole, dresses also weigh less than trousers and tops and this is quite an important consideration with the limited baggage allowance that we have especially as there will be some gifts to take home with a special cruise like this. I have a couple of dresses that I have managed to wear on our last cruise. I really like those and can’t wait to wear them again. As they are all summer dresses, I have not had any chance to wear them since.

I bought some dresses for the last cruise, but for one reason or the other, I did not get a chance to wear them during the cruise. With the long cruise, I should have plenty of opportunities to wear them.

I also found a few new dresses that I really fell in love with. I can’t wait to wear them.

Corinna

Love those dresses! Whilst they are all wonderful the purple and dark blue are knock outs! Can't wait to see photos of you both on the night!

Love that cruisefish.com have not seen that before. Don't quite understand if the percentage after cruise date is taken or what they have left.

Its hard to pick a favorite, they're all pretty :)

I arrived in Florida late last night and have a shuttle arranged for the drive to Miami this morning. I decided to fly into and stay in Fort Lauderdale because its much cheaper than Miami. The plane was delayed about 2 hours so I didn't get to the hotel until after 1:00am. Not the smoothest start to the trip but I got here.

I love all the dresses, too.

Cruise Fish shows the percentage of categories that are still available to book. This website can become really addictive.

Oh, that is not good. Still, at least you are there safe and sound. We were originally looking at Fort Lauderdale as the flights were a bit cheaper for a long time, but in the end the flight into Miami was a lot cheaper.

I hope you have Wonderful cruise.

I love the look of that birthday cake. I have to show this to Graham. I want one of those for my 40th later this year.

Beautiful dresses. I can't wait to see you in them.

That's nice looking cake. :thumbsup2

I love the dresses. Can I wear them when you're done? :rotfl2:

Just kidding!

All of those dresses are just my style and would be perfect in Southern California.

I think our layover at JFK has just become a lot more pleasurable. We have a 5.5 hours layover at JFK, which is quite long. I know a good chunk of this will be taken up with immigration, customs and then going through security again. Still, we should still have plenty of time to kill.

We had always planned to get a late lunch/ early dinner at JFK so that we can go straight to the hotel and straight to bed when we get to Miami. I had expected that we would end up with food court Chinese.

Yesterday I was researching book shops at JFK. In the USA, the final book in the Kingdom Keepers series is coming out tomorrow. In the UK, it won't be out until 22nd May. I am hoping to get this while we are at JFK so that I can enjoy this during the cruise. While I was looking for book shops, I realized that there is a Bobby Van's Steakhouse in the terminal where we arrive and depart from. It is a little bit pricey, but that is to be expected for an airport and especially in New York. It will be nice to get a good steak almost as soon as we land in the USA.

Corinna

Sounds like that could be a good layover. There's enough time to go get a few things done like shop and eat; but not too long that it becomes overly tedious.

I haven't picked up the Kingdom Keeper books yet. Are they good?
