All AP pro's, why should I?

I plan on coming to WDW probably twice in one year. Maybe my family also. Should I go ahead and get my AP and not the others? Is parking at WDW parks one of the perks that come with a AP? Any and all help would be appreciated!!

The general rule of thumb I've seen is that if you will be in the parks more than 8 days in that year then the AP is more cost effective than a hopper pass. If this is the case then I suppose everyone in your party should get an AP.

Also, if you're staying on site they usually have very good discounts on the Disney resorts for AP holders. Only one person in your party needs the AP to get the discount rate (when they come out).

If you are planning on going to the parks 8 or more days in a year, then AP's are definitely the way to go. With them you will receive free parking, some discounts on select WDW restaurants, discounts on WDW resorts, discounts on WDW golf, plus use of the AP lounges when they are open in the busier seasons.

We have AP's and are very happy with them!

what's an AP lounge? Where are they located? I am an AP holder and have no idea. Enlighten me! Thanks:)

Don't bother asking. :( I just did so recently and found out they don't have them anymore. Atleast not right now and who knows if they'll have them again in the future?

About the APs.... if you are going to be in the parks 8 days or more everything I have read and figured up on my own is that it will be better to get APs- especially if you are visiting again in the same year.
For me, 7 day park hoppers is going to be better for the rest of my family but only because we probably won't visit again WITHIN that year (maybe visiting again at the same time the next year- but not within that year the AP would be good for) and then any left over days (if we use plusses instead of going to the parks all those days) will be good FOREVER.
I like the idea of good forever, rather than just within a year's time.

BUT even if you aren't going to get APs for everyone, it's still probably worth your while to get one AP for the discounted rates at the resorts, free parking (even if staying offsite), and other discounts... especially since you will be going more than once!
Just my opinion on that. :)

(ps. wishing I'd thought about it a little better when we took our first trip to WDW. If I'd known then that I'd be taking a solo trip shortly afterwards PLUS us all taking another trip within that year- I would have bought us all APs instead of park hoppers the first time and an AP for me on the solo trip. But sometimes you just don't have ESP and know these things...... LOL)

There are other surprise perks like the one that just came out in the latest Mickey Monitor. They're having 6 nights in March where they are going to re-open MGM an hour after it closes. Only APers can get back in and they will have 2 hours to ride ToT and RnR (it's to promote the new sequences on ToT). I'm so excited because my next trip coincides with this.

Oh, you're going to love the new ToT sequences. My BF hates this ride, but couldn't resist riding it again after experiencing the new sequences. Enjoy your trip!

Disnee Dad Says................................. Reduced hotel prices! We stayed at Dixie Landings for $74, off season of course!
You can see the Osbourne Lights the weekend before Thanksgiving, before anyone gets to see them! That is what sealed it for us, it was a ten day trip, but seeing the Osbourne Lights was great! We would probably never get to see it otherwise for many years.
We planned very carefully, first trip to see Osbourne Lights, second trip to use our AP's up to the last minute! BTW, You get a 366 day AP! Got ours 11/10/01 and used it on 11/10/02.
If the family is only doing a one week trip, then one AP will still get you reduced hotel rates, and free parking.

Thank you all for the responses!! I might try to slide the ap's by my wife and say that we would have to take that 2nd trip a little earlier to get great savings for trips. I did a solo trip last year and would love to do one just with my wife. We are staying off-site this time, so for the 6 or 7 days of parking fees we can save right there with the ap. Any special viewing of any fireworks like RoE or FWITS? Thanks again!!;)

B'rer Karen-

Could you tell me when those days are? We just got our Seasonal Passes, so we did not receive this issue. We are planning to go for a weekend in March, but have not decided which one.

I know the first three are March 7, 8, amd 9 because that's when I'm there. I believe the other three are March 14, 15, 16, but I can check my Mickey Monitor when I get home from work and confirm that for you.

Well aren't you a lucky one!!!!
