All AP holders can get DDE now-not just FL residents

Will it work when just ordering a bass ale (to go) at Rose & Crown Pub? That's
$1.50 savings on a pint!!! :drinking1 I ordered ours yesterday and am already trying to figure the break-even point.

Another advantage of this, for those of us who are tip calculating challenged,
the 20% can serve as a "guideline" for tipping as well. That is, if you have good service!!

I don't know if it works for a pint, but the breakeven point would be when you spend a total of $250 or more for food throughout your visit. (Or roughly 34 pints ;) )

Which is not very hard to do. :earseek:

I saw where you can use the DDE at the Pop food court. Does anyone know if the discount can be applied to the resort mugs? Thanks!

My head is swimming from reading all of the posts, and I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but everyone should be very happy about this! You are now receiving one of the best discounts offered by Disney formerly only to Florida residents. So I guess Disney figures our {residents} support during the slow times no longer warrants an extra "benny". I was wondering why I had not yet received my renewal notice {our card expires end of this month} I guess they are too busy selling the cards to all AP holders. And on top of that, our renewal has been $60, so now we actually loose part of the benefit since any AP holder can get the ticket for $50. I guess this is the way Disney takes care of the folks who support them all year round.

Oh yea, and as good as this card is, wait till you get a load of the prices of the "special events" that they have!

Are you asked anything about your ap when you call? Dh is out of town and he has his ap and I am not getting mine until we go down 1/22. I am going to order the dde card in the am and want to be prepared. I will need that email because the card will not reach us before we leave in a week.

Thanks :cheer2:

Yes, I am thrilled to have this perk! I would have been THRILLED to have been able to purchase it, even at regular price.

I have been paying substantially more for my AP for 10 years than Florida Residents...it's about time that Disney realize that not all the "folks who support them year round" are Florida residents. Honestly, I think averaging 20 to 25 days per year is more than many FL residents, except those that live in the immediate area. And FL residents, if they are also AP holders, can renew at $50, so you have not "lost" any benefit...you are simply sharing it with other folks who support Disney more than the average one-time 4 day visitor.

We are DVC members and go to WDW an average of 50 to 60 days per year. And I apologize if I gave the impression that I was not happy about others getting the discount. I think it's great when someone gets a fantastic deal from Disney. In the past, they have not been overly generous with discounts in general. We are from NJ originally, and were kind of unhappy when we came down to WDW and found out we could not get such a super food discount, since food is quite expensive at the resort.
I wonder if this is going to be a permanent offer, or is it just for this 50th anniversary celebration. DW and I always have commented on the fact that this was such a great deal and was wondering when Eisner was going to realize it and call the whole thing off!

Honestly, I think as far as DDE goes, one of 4 things will happen...

1) it will be only for the 50th anniversary, (hence the $50 membership) -or-
2) it will go to "regular price" next year -or-
3) it will be opened up to all DVC members at regular price, (I'd rather have this than a pre-paid dining plan) with AP members retaining the discount, -or-
4) DDE will be no longer be available to anyone except FL resident

Only time will tell, but I hope I will be able to continue to have it available in the future.

I just ordered my AP a few days ago and have not received the voucher in the mail yet. When I called to order the DDE card, they said that was fine.

If you order from inside the Pub, then yes it should work. Enjoy your pints! Personally I prefer the Boddingtons (half pint, after all I am a lady). :D

We have used ours for 1 week now while at WDW. It has paid for itself and more. I don't have the exact figure yet for our trip as we will be leaving tomorrow, but it is well worth it. I am thankful that we ordered ours just before the trip. Every place has honored the letter that we received since we didn't have our card.

When I ordered ours, we hadn't even purchased our vouchers. We were going to be picking up our AP's the day we arrived here. It wasn't a problem at all.

O.K. after reading this thread and asking my questions on another thread about the MYW meal plan, I have decided to just get the PAPs and get the DDE instead of the meal plan. I havent done the calculations yet but I know our family of 5 will save a ton of money, especially since all our 3 ds are charged adult prices and we do 1 sit down a day, I think this is a much better option for us because I was stressing out about the meal plan thinking o.k. I need my sit down, can I trade, my counter service etc. etc. is this an acceptable snack etc. I would rather go eat at an approved place and save the 20%, Thanks to everyone.

I called yesterday to get the dining card since we have a definite trip planned in November and are considering a spring trip, possibly. I was told that I had to have the AP in hand in order to get the dining card even though I told the lady that we usually stop at Ocala to pick up our AP's on the way down.

She told me that when I picked up the AP at Ocala they would give me a letter to use for the dining card at the same time. Are there any benefits in having the card as opposed to the letter? Might I not be better off getting the card at Ocala as the expiration date would be later than getting it right now?

Thank you for your help, in advance.

Slightly Goofy

But hang on. If you are traveling in November why get the dining card now?? Wouldn't it make more sense to get it closer to your trip like in October so it lasts half a year more? Getting it now will make it expire in February 06.

Eric

eelvira, I guess I am confused. I thought I had read that the cards all expired in February 2006 no matter when you bought them. If they are a true year, as are the AP's I would definitely wait until closer to my next trip, spring or November. Would be worth the added heft of a letter versus the card especially since we tend to get three trips out of each AP.

Thank you so much for your input.

I just ordered my DDE at the $50 rate. I plan to purchase my AP when I arrive. He said that was not a problem, that my info would be in the system when I bought my pass. He said that due to the MLK holiday Monday, I may not receive my e-mail until Tuesday. But all went very smoothly! Cannot wait to receive this! I think it will be a much better deal than the dining package for our family.

Slighty Goofy, You seem to ge getting different info that most of us. Did you call the DDE number, the regular Disney Dining number, or the AP passholders number?

Disney has once again, just left this wide open to honesty. We have an AP, and I assume our name was in teh system (although I say assume, because they asked for my name and address..usually when they have my AP info, they don't need to ask it again). I think they are giving these to everyone that asks for them. Since you don't need to show your AP, just your ID, when using them, I'm betting a lot of people will get them without ever getting an AP. If they are that laid back, I'm betting they will soon offer them to everyone. Heck, the food prices are prob about to go up 20%!
