All AP holders can get DDE now-not just FL residents

TwingleMum, I think you can order now, as long as you have your active AP when you try to use the card. My AP expires the day before we arrive at OKW. Since we drive, I hope I can renew it in Ocala with the DVC discount.

Thanks for the Heads UP - I ordered mine & they are e-mailing me a confirmation as well as sending me the card. This coming trip has alot of major meals planned, then we have 2 more trips afterwards, so it will be very worth it for us.

is there an expiration date? we have several trips planned for the coming year. thanks! :teleport: :earboy2:

The only gripe I have about this is that as a FL resident and DDE holder, I was not notified of the change. (Yeah, I know. Let me change to my surprise face. ;) )
This explains why our server at R&C said we were not entitled to the 20% discount on NYE Day. (Although we used the DDE discount card on every other major holiday last year from early Spring on, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NYE.)
I am assuming the black out dates, etc, started 01/01/05.
What is REALLY odd is I perused the Cast Portal this afternoon and looked under the DDE information. No mention of the change. It specifically reads, "A dining discount for Florida resents only." With the last three words in Bold print.
I called the phone number they reference. I could not get a human being. But the recording specified all the "old" info.

:confused3
Is there more than one DDE program now? :scratchin

i THINK i remember when i was looking into DDE a few months ago that the black out dates for holidays were there then also, but it was not always enforced. It was up to the restaurant and manager if they wanted to. You will probably see more of that now that more people will have them.

We could not use our DDE card on Thanksgiving or Christmas this past year. It gave the blackout days on the form we got with the card.

I just called & ordered my DDE card and boy was the CM RUDE while answering my questions. She had an attitude & said that she was just trying to get through the queue so she could turn off the phones. It was still 20 minutes until stated closing time for DDE # AND i had already been on hold for 27 minutes. Anyway I ordered the card. It also includes an extra card for anyone else in your household over 21 (does not have to be AP holder). I am leaving in 2 days & was told that my confirmation email was valid now & would be accepted in place of the card.

Also here are the restaurants that accept the card. That was one of my questions so maybe I can help somebody keep their call short.

I'm sorry the CM was rude to you. The poor thing was probably completely overwhelmed. I doubt they expected the huge initial response to the DDE AP benefit.

Thanks for posting the current list of eateries :)

I think this discount sounds great! I have a couple of questions though. I bought my AP in dec. So if I buy the dining card is it good just until Dec again, or from the day I purchase it? My next trip isn't until May, so I'm wondering if I should order it now or hold off until closer to my trip. What kind of drinks are included? Is it alcoholic drinks as well? Almost too good to be true if I could get a discount on the wonderful wines at Jiko or my favorite Margurita at SAI :flower:

Our passes expire in January.
I bought the DDE card last Spring. If I recall correct the card starts and expires the month you buy it.
If you bought the DDE membership in April, it would be good through the end of April. And it does not have anything to do when your AP expires.
DDE is separate from your AP.

And all drinks are included. Although some servers need to be reminded on the drink part (even ice teas).

According to the AP website you need to have an activated AP when using the DDE card. I think this is a great perk for AP holders and happy to see some positive changes.

Here's the info from the passholder website:

Dining Discounts
Discounts are valid for purchases made by the Passholder only and valid Pass ID is required for redemption.
Disney Dining Experience
Receive $25 off the regular price of the Disney Dining Experience Membership.

Benefits include:

20% discount on all food and beverages at over 70 participating Resort hotel and Theme Park restaurants (discount is valid for a party of up to 10 Guests).
Resort and Theme Park parking for dining purposes
Invitations to special member-only food and wine events, winemaker dinners and celebrity chef dinners
And more!
Call (407) 566-5858† (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. E.S.T.) for more information or to purchase your annual membership at the Passholder price of $50. The Disney Dining Experience Membership card is not accepted on holidays, including New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Mother's Day, Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Once you order your Disney Dining Experience membership card, please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

There were some other new changes and perks on the passholder website too. AP holders should log in and take a look. I saw a section about 25% discount on MNSSHP and MVMCP for "day of" tickets for 2005. wow

WOOHOO :jumping4: Thanks Luv2Roam and n2mm!
I will wait until April to sign up , that way I can use it in May and again when i plan to go in Oct. If I decide to renew my AP in Dec I will still be able to use it until May 2006! I was feeling a little blue  not being able to use the new savings with the new ticket structures since I have an AP, this certainly makes up for it.

This is great! We're leaving in just a few weeks and have lots of high end restaurant PS's. The thing is, I let my AP expire and wasn't planing on getting another for this trip as I'm not sure when we'll be back. (Doing HHI this summer) But, with the $100 off AP's for DVC owners and now the DDE benifit to have AP, I'm going to have to rethink this. I think I'll put a pencil to it in the morning when my brain is fresh and see which would be best.

I have not been able to locate this information on the Disney web site. Can someone provide a link?
TIA

†Remember: If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number.

Then I will definitely use his PAP when ordering.... 20 bucks is 20 bucks... or in my husband's language... 4 WDW beers

A few quick questions for those of you that have used this before.

Is there a list anywhere that tells us which spots are the '70' mentioned? Which leads me to other queston...I'm traveling with dd, 11, in June. We will be there for 8 days/9 nights. She is not a big eater and I figured that maybe we could eat on the run so to speak. But, if I used DDE, maybe I would use more sit-down type spots. Have you used the DDE for just two people, one of which doesn't eat much more than mac and cheese or chicken tenders??

Thanks for any thoughts.
