All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

Yes but if you're always going to do that then as I said I wouldn't bother. And if you are already a member and can split into smaller contracts of 100's or even less that gives both flexibility to downsize, can be priced higher and sell fast. If you are going to use the week at times then sure. Otherwise I'd bet on the small contracts which year after year have kept the same high resale interest vs betting on point chart changes. Riviera with it's resale restrictions and holding one of the most popular weeks might ultimately benefit in the resale market. For others I think the biggest gain from the chart changes is in the past. Maybe it would end up being even but I'd think DVC would have baked a year or two of adjustments into the new charts assuming they have a current plan for more.

Issue on our end was that we needed a different UY for RIV since we plan to use it the last-half of the year. So a minimum Master Contract of 150 points was required for a new membership and we can't break that contract down any further. The only way to circumvent that requirement is if we bought a FW - they would allow a less-than 150 master contract only if it were a FW, provided that you bought additional points to make up to 150. While hoping for a better value due to the resale restrictions was the primary reason for us buying a FW, we also don't mind staying a week before Halloween. Weather should be cooler, F&W should be on, and Boo Bash would be fun!

You can't do anything until after the 11 month window.

I'm not sure what the big deal is? MS does the same thing when you're trying to switch the points you're using for a stay (like from current UY to borrowed) or if you're trying to link several reservations together. It's just a courtesy hold while they do what they need to do.

It is different because you were given that room before the 11 month window and now being allowed to keep it and get your points back from it.

The purpose of owning a FW was to give you a guaranteed room if you keep it for the week. It was not to allow you a booking advantage for a room booked the regular way.

Whether you agree or not, any supervisor doing this when the rooms are gone, is breaking the specific terms of the FW.

Sorry, but it is wrong and I hope that loophole gets closed.

The FW can be converted to points if you don't want to use it -- that's in the rules. What I meant was that if you want to shorten the reservation, they will hold the room for you while they convert the FW to points and then book the shortened stay with the points.

They are not making an exception, just graciously holding the room for you while they do the paperwork, so to speak, on their end.

You received an exception since holding the room did allow the reservation to be modified.

Does anyone know if runDisney special events are still being sold at CCV? Not that I think I will add on given the new prices -- if I could under the old FW chart, I really should have. We have a runDisney Week 44 for Wine & Dine in the fall, but had been talking about adding on the Princess run in February, if only because that is vacation week here in MA and is thus potentially a good week to have guaranteed.

For those unfamiliar, the added benefit of the runDisney weeks is that you CAN modify them to be something other than Sunday-Sunday check-in. It's part of the special benefit of it being a runDisney fixed week, so long as the event continues to be offered. We decided in 2020 to get the Wine & Dine week, because we like the Food & Wine Festival and my husband is a runner, so it seemed like a good fit. We haven't used it yet, because our kids are still in school and as they are in high school, taking a week off of school is just too much. But in three years this fall, they'll both be in college, and so we'll start going to Disney without them, lol, and will start to take advantage of it at that point! Of course, with our luck, Disney will stop doing the Wine & Dine run in 3 years. ;-)

(I say this because we got a FW for Thanksgiving week, and when we finally use it, Disney changes it so that the AP replacing the Gold AP now blocks out Thanksgiving - a time historically Disney has NEVER blocked out from that level of pass. Because... that's our luck. Sigh. At present, we've decided if we go over Thanksgiving, that we likely won't visit the parks, and are holding out hope that they might reverse this decision to block out Thanksgiving).

They are not.

Even with the modification, you still have to keep it for the week..so if you want to check in Wednesday, you now have check out on Wednesday.

But, I do not believe they are selling these any longer.

Hi!
I have a direct contract -RiV- with a fixed week, if I put this on the resale market.. does the buyer keep the right of the FW?
Thanks!

Does anyone know if VGF 1 fixed week is still being paused? would potentially be interested if this is sold at the current VGF2 add-on price. Not interested in VGF2 as it'd only be for the Resort Studio.

No fixed weeks in the original VGF building are being sold.
temporarily or because all weeks are sold out in the original VGF? Trying to decide if we should add on regular points now or if fixed weeks might come into play again in the original VGF.

I don’t believe they will be selling anymore fixed weeks in the original units. It’s resort studios only.

According to my Guide, there are no Fixed Weeks available in the original VGF. You might be able to find one in resale.

Their current intention is not to sell FW for anything but the new studios. The new building will probably sell out within the next year so I do not imagine they will change their mind. The prices for FW also make it impossible to get a reasonable deal as the required points are astronomical and represent poor value.

The original FW were a great deal. But now Disney is changing the point req to 150 for any fixed weeks sold. So that right there degrades any new FW.

Probably so the guide could offer them double points. It makes no sense unless it made it easier for the guide to sell it to a naive purchaser.

If it was an experienced purchaser, it could happen because the Guide allowed them to match their previous Use Year, even though it is not ideal for the use of the Fixed Week.
