All Aboard! The Happiest TR That Ever Sailed ~May 1-9~ Ice cream for dinner! 6/20

Yay, cinnamon roll! I will refrain from drooling and/or licking the computer screen. (insert drooling smilie face here) ;)

Yay! You've started your TR already! I can't wait to read it when I get home from our trip on Sunday!

Thanks! I absolutely love your avatar! What ballet performance is the picture from? It's absolutely gorgeous :lovestruc

I think the DIS needs a drooling smiley face!:rotfl:

And feel free to drool/lick all you want. I know I will be!:rotfl2:

Yay! You've started your TR already! I can't wait to read it when I get home from our trip on Sunday!

I know, I was too excited to wait!:goodvibes I hope you're having a wonderful time and I can't wait to read all about your trip too. Sending pixie dust!:wizard:

Thanks! I absolutely love your avatar! What ballet performance is the picture from? It's absolutely gorgeous :lovestruc

It's from Serenade, a Balanchine ballet. The ballet itself is just beautiful. It was the first ballet choreographed by Balanchine in the US and it is amazing to see danced live. I just love the clean lines of it.

I've got the next update all written and just have to upload it here!

Great TR!popcorn::

Whoops, I missed you there, we must've been posting at the same time. Welcome!:cheer2:

How exciting that you're having a "Disneymoon" soon. It's my dream to honeymoon at Disney World. You must be over the moon! (pun... well, sort of intended, actually):rotfl:

Thanks for joining and posting!

Day One, Part 4

As I left off last time, I was absolutely starving and dying to get to Pecos Bill’s for a bacon double cheeseburger. I was so hungry I would have eaten a turkey leg. I know those are a hit with some DISers but… I don’t know, I have yet to be convinced that they aren’t previously chewed chunks of meat re-glued to the bone LOL.

We crossed into Frontierland and finally we had arrived at PB’s!

When we got inside there was quite a lineup at the cash so we decided to use one of these handy little touch screen machines.

ry%3D400

I got a bit of a kick out of the fact that the two options were English and Spanish unlike up here in Canada where they would be English and French. I know, I don’t get out much. Of course, a few minutes into ordering we realized that there was no way to order and extra bun with the touch screen so we had to join the line of everyone else waiting to place their orders the old fashioned way.

Because we weren’t on the DDP this time, we decided to split basically everything. Most of the meals at Disney are too big for us to each finish our own, plus we saved a few bucks. So I’d read here on the DIS that you can order and extra bun with the double cheeseburger and it ends up like having two single burgers. Worked for us!

Unfortunately, by the time we realized we’d have to join the main line, a show of the Country Bears Jamboree had let out so the line was now huge. There was only one line at each register but it was about seven groups deep. I knew that I could just walk up to the other side of the register and order right away, but since there was absolutely nobody else doing it, I was afraid that I would be breaking some kind of unspoken rule. Our line actually moved fairly quickly though, and within about 10 minutes we topping up our burgers at the fixins’ bar.

There was tons and tons of seating so we found ourselves a little table and dug right in.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Oh. My. Gosh. Was the burger ever GOOD. Seriously, I wasn’t expecting too much from a counter service burger but it hit the spot. I piled mine with sautéed onions, tomato, cheese sauce and ketchup. Add to that delicious combination a piece of processed cheese and two slices of bacon and you pretty much have to most delicious and artery clogging burger you can eat. Plus I had hot, salty fries to dip in my side of cheese sauce and I was in heaven. If I had timed myself, I’m pretty sure I had my plate cleaned in less than 5 minutes. The picture here doesn’t really do it justice because the tomatoes kind of take over the photo but… YUM.

ry%3D400

Once we were done licking our fingers (don’t worry, we washed and sanitized them first, see the little bottle in the picture?), it was around 8:30. Wishes started at 9. I was completely torn. Should we try and make it on a ride and not worry about catching the whole thing? Should we head straight to Main Street and find a prime viewing location?

I decided that since it was only the first night of the trip and we would have to other chances to see Wishes we would head for a ride. I’m a big fan of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, so we went to check out the wait time.

The wait time posted was 25 minutes, so we got in the standby line. It turned out the line was actually more like 10 minutes! I was so thrilled. I had been stressing out about the wait times and crowd levels for months and you really can’t beat a 10 minute wait for BTMRR! I just hoped the crowds wouldn’t jump too much in the next few days.

ry%3D400

I thought the lantern light fixtures were really cute! LL, this is for you!

ry%3D400

By this time, the sun had almost set. I just love the atmosphere of Frontierland. Something about the twangy music, warm colour scheme and unfinished wood just makes me feel like I really have been transported back in time.

ry%3D400

After only a few minutes in line, I had boarded my first Disney ride of 2009! I made my mom take a picture of this momentous occasion and it took her so long that the little gate/door thing closed on her before she could get to the train. I was just so excited to be on the ride that I kind of waved at her thinking she would take the next one and I’d see her at the exit. She wasn’t ready to be left behind so easily and the CM noticed she was with me (umm… remember we were wearing matching shirts? LOL) and opened the gates back up. She was not too happy that I was ready to venture out on the “wildest ride in the wilderness” without her! Whoops!

ry%3D400

Riding BTMRR at night is so magical! The moon and a few stars were out, and while I was looking at the moon, it seemed so nice to me that it was the same moon I would be looking at if I were staring out my bedroom window at home. Kind of comforting to know that no matter where you are, you can still look up and see the same sky. Getting a little too philosophical for a coaster, eh?

Once we hopped off an awesome first ride, we had about 10 minutes before Wishes started. We could either boot it to Main Street and try and scout out a decent spot or we could hang out in Frontierland and just relax. After a long day of travel, hanging out and relaxing in Frontierland won out.

We had some gorgeous view of the park! We walked over to the long walkway/bridge that runs alongside the Frontierland pathway and there was almost nobody on it! We found a bench that had a perfectly clear view of the castle and I took a few snapshots and then got my camera ready for fireworks mode.

So far, our first evening in the parks had been pretty much perfect and in my mind, the only thing that could make it better was watching Wishes. Luckily the park was open an extra hour after Wishes so we could still fit in some more touring. I had a full belly, had just had a wonderful ride on BTMRR and finally announcements were being made that the MK lighting would be lowered for the fireworks.

Does it really get any better than that?

Stay tuned for Wishes and our last hour at MK!

I know what you mean about riding BTMR at night, it IS magical! I haven't done it at night in the Magic Kingdom but I have done it at Disneyland. It was during Christmas too so you could see all the pretty lights flashing past you.

:rotfl: I had to laugh at your Mom almost getting left behind on BTMR, very nice of the CM to open the gates back up for her.

I feel the same way about the turkey legs. Something about gnawing on an animal leg like that really doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure there delicious, but I think I'd have to be starving to even consider one of those. :scared:

We love Peco Bill's! Any place you can get all you can eat cheese sauce is a huge hit w/ DH. :thumbsup2 You're so nice about not going to the other side of the register. When food is involved, my standards go out the window! :rotfl: I would've jumped to the other side. :guilty:

Love your pictures, especially the night ones. Nice!

I love the lantern picture. They are so cute. I think I have to ride that at night, it sounds really nice.

Relaxing in Frontierland at night sounds like a really good idea and you took some very nice photos. :thumbsup2

I'm stressing big time about the crowds....

Have you stayed at the POP before? We were there last July and really loved it! I have to say, I think it is my favourite value resort.

And you're right! The departing flight is always worse than the return. It's funny because on the flight there I was like "if I'm going to die in a plane crash, PLEASE let it be on the way home so at least I'll spend my last few days in WDW!":rotfl:

hahahahaha :rotfl2:Thats exactly what my mom says when she goes on vacation.. she told me she always says "At least let me get there an enjoy my vacation before I die" hehe ;)

and NO we haven't stayed there. My DH and I have soft spot for ASMo, idk why we just really really love it. It was also our first onsite resort- so that could be another reason to. I love ASMo because all the themes are towards the movies.. which is what I love. So it feels like it disney characters everywhere.. plus I like the food court and how everything is decorated.. so its the best to us. This time I asked DH where he wanted to stay- I said I think we should stay somewhere new- but I don't want ASSpo.. I'm not really a sport fan and it seems to old. So I said Pop Century or ASMu... Him-"I want movies again" That was not an option. Eventually after hearing him wine I said. I want to try different resorts and eventually try all of them.. or most of them.. so we are doing a different one- it will be exciting. He finally said Pop Century then because its newest. So Pop it is! I actually really excited because I have been wanting to stay here for years- I've heard sooo many good thing about it.

I have a question- what section or building theme do you like? I have been looking at pictures but its hard to make difference of them. I think I like the 60s-hippie buildings.. but idk. What did you like?

Day One

Finally we had landed safely in Orlando! We didn’t have to wait in the Magical Express lineup at all because we had our little blue book so we got waved right through to the red carpet. I was thrilled to see that we had one of the nicely decorated ME buses.

ry%3D400

The first “Disney” feeling I get of every trip is watching this screen with Mickey flying away over and over and over again.

ry%3D400

[/LIST]

I just found your report and am having a great time reading it! I have a question tho - what is the little blue book you were referring to? I've only taken ME twice (last year) and the first time we got thru the line very quickly and onto the bus to BWV but the last trip the line was HUGE and waited almost 30 minutes. I would love to know how you got to pass by the ME line. Thanks!

I love all your scenery pics and I love the new express order.. I will definitely use those!! :thumbsup2

I've never seen these before! You can use them if you have DDP/Snack credits?! Was there much of a line for the machine?

Unfortunately, by the time we realized we’d have to join the main line, a show of the Country Bears Jamboree had let out so the line was now huge.

Ugh, of course the Jamboree had let out. Talk about perfect timing.

Ahhh I can't wait to see this again!

Haha! You remind me of myself. I always think..."Oh my gosh, this is my first ride of the trip!" Poor mom. :rotfl:

Okay, we seriously think alike! :)

Hey! You found our favorite path!

Joining, what a great TR! You have a true talent for writing, very detailed and descriptive. (You must have gotten it from your Mom;))

Cant wait ‘til the next update!popcorn::

Ah! I am so happy you had such a magical first night! :wizard: I've never eaten at Pecos Bill's...maybe we should! Poor mom having the gate close on her! But since she made it on your ride, I guess it's ok to laugh now! I'm impressed--what a great philosophical moment. But I must say, it made me think of Fifel (or however you spell it) singing "Somewhere Out There..." ;) Your night pictures from Frontierland were GORGEOUS! I can't wait to see your Wishes pictures and hear all about your first night!

Yes, I know what you mean. I am so used to English/French than it kinds of throws me off when I am in the US :goodvibes

Did you use all of the sanitizers and wipes that you brought down? ;)

I am going to try and ride BTMRR at night, sounds so magical! Actually, your whole TR sounds wonderful. :woohoo:

Does it really get any better than that?

No, I don't think that it gets any better than that! I can't wait to experience the magic. :hippie:

Welcome, jelloarms! :welcome:

Thanks for posting! I've never been to Disneyland but I'm hoping to get there in the not too distant future. Christmas at the Disney parks is so wonderful. I wish I could experience every holiday Disney-style!

:rotfl: I had to laugh at your Mom almost getting left behind on BTMR, very nice of the CM to open the gates back up for her.

It was pretty funny! Especially when she realized how cool I was with just waving her away LOL. And if you can believe it... that wasn't the only time a CM had to open the gates back up for us!

I feel the same way about the turkey legs. Something about gnawing on an animal leg like that really doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure there delicious, but I think I'd have to be starving to even consider one of those. :scared:

Love your pictures, especially the night ones. Nice!

I feel the same way about turkey legs. Even ribs and chicken wings kind of freak me out but for some reason the turkey legs look so... leg-like? That it'll be a while before I venture out and try one!

And I agree with your DH... any restaurant that serves all you can eat hot cheese sauce gets two thumbs up from me!

I love the lantern picture. They are so cute. I think I have to ride that at night, it sounds really nice.

Relaxing in Frontierland at night sounds like a really good idea and you took some very nice photos. :thumbsup2

I'm stressing big time about the crowds....

Aww, try not to worry TOO much about the crowds. I was so freaked out when touringplans called for 8s and 9s our whole week and the crowd levels were nothing near that, even on weekends. Besides, no matter what the crowd levels are like, you'll be at WDW! I would give anything to be standing in a 120 min wait for TSM right now instead of sitting at home!:rotfl:

hahahahaha :rotfl2:Thats exactly what my mom says when she goes on vacation.. she told me she always says "At least let me get there an enjoy my vacation before I die" hehe ;)

Hmm. Well, we were in the 50s building on the top floor facing the lake and we had (IMO) a nearly perfect room location! We were right near the bowling pin pool, but facing away from it so it was really quiet. The lake was so peaceful and beautiful and it was a short walk to the main building and bus stops. I would definitely request that location next time we stay at the POP! Plus, if you're back at the room early enough, you can even see some of the Illuminations fireworks!

Thanks!

It was actually just the little book they send you in the mail with the vouchers for ME in it. It really surprised me when they waved us through, because I've had that booklet every time and have always had to wait in the regular line. Maybe it's something new they're doing? I'm not sure, but it was great to get right past everyone!

Also, welcome heaven2dc!! Thanks so much for reading!:goodvibes

I love all your scenery pics and I love the new express order.. I will definitely use those!! :thumbsup2

They looked like they would've been great if we hadn't needed a special order. There was nobody using them at all!!

I've never seen these before! You can use them if you have DDP/Snack credits?! Was there much of a line for the machine?

Hey! You found our favorite path!

Nope, there was no line at all for the touch screen machines! And you sure can use them with DDP!

We really do think alike!! I'm so bummed that our June trips don't overlap.:sad2: We could've ridden BTMRR and pondered the universe together LOL!

That path is so beautiful and quiet at night!

Joining, what a great TR! You have a true talent for writing, very detailed and descriptive. (You must have gotten it from your Mom;))

Cant wait ‘til the next update!popcorn::

Hi there, MagicalWorldMommy and welcome! Thank you so much for your kind words, it's so nice to hear that. I really worried about writing a trip report that people would actually enjoy so I'm glad you like it!

I'm thinking I'll have the next update done by tomorrow!

Ah! I am so happy you had such a magical first night! :wizard: I've never eaten at Pecos Bill's...maybe we should! Poor mom having the gate close on her! But since she made it on your ride, I guess it's ok to laugh now! I'm impressed--what a great philosophical moment. I can't wait to see your Wishes pictures and hear all about your first night!

Aww, I love that song!

I was pretty happy with how the night pictures came out. I wasn't using a tripod or anything and I just have a basic digital camera... but it did the job! You should definitely try Pecos Bill's, it was sooo yummy. I will definitely be eating there every future trip. Mmm...

Yes, I know what you mean. I am so used to English/French than it kinds of throws me off when I am in the US

Did you use all of the sanitizers and wipes that you brought down? ;)

I am going to try and ride BTMRR at night, sounds so magical! Actually, your whole TR sounds wonderful. :woohoo:

No, I don't think that it gets any better than that! I can't wait to experience the magic. :hippie:

I actually did use all of our sanitizing products! I was wiping down the plane... sanitizing after every ride... spraying everything... but we didn't get sick! Who knows if it was because of my neurotic ways or if we would've stayed healthy anyways, but I like to pretend it was all my cleaning products LOL.

BTMRR is so awesome at night. I think I like it even better than during the day!
