OK - so who is going to do the Expedition Everest Challenge in about two weeks?

Let's discuss clues!

Also, for any veterans of this, how difficult is the scavenger hunt and obstical course? I'm not worried about the run.

And DISCUSS!

My husband and I ran it last Sept and had a great time! The obstacle course seemed extremely easy to us and all but one of the clues were easy as well. I remember most of our group going back to the final clue after the answer was given and we still couldn't understand the answer. Overall the event was a blast! We didn't let the downpour in the middle of it dampen our spirits. Be sure the have a blast, I wish we could do it again- Good Luck!

It was last June and my DD and I did it-it was a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat but when they changed the date it is college finals. Many of us found the first clue to be the hardest to find, after that ok.The weather was awesome, hot in June but it was at night so at least no sun.

My DD and I are entered for the first time this year and answered the "sample clue" from the email with ease... If they are all like that, it should be easy.

Regardless, I think it will be a lot of fun. This is our first 5k and we are just looking to do something new and fun together...

What was the sample clue?! I'm not sure I got it!

DS16 and I will be there!!! We are SO excited, except that he has a very sore foot at the moment. Hopefully it will feel better in the next few days!

The email clue said:

When choosing a password, it's important to pack light:

And the answer selctions were:

matches
water
sleeping bag
tent

The answer was matches, because it was the only thing that could produce "light"

I'm hoping the clues for the scavenger hunt will be similar to this sample.
This is my first ever 5K and DF's second one, so we are both very excited/nervous.:rotfl:

My girlfriend and I are doing this! I can't wait!

But I am worried about the scavenger hunt. Hopefully it won't be too hard.

I'm really excited to be doing this race tonight! I finally convinced my mom to do a disney race with me and it's going to be a ton of fun.
BUT.
Disney ran out of the race pins. By which I mean, people that paid for them 6+ months ago when they signed up for the race, didn't receive them.
At the solutions table, they said there was "a glitch" in the system that allowed them to oversell them at packet pickup to people that hadn't ordered in advance, and they didn't have enough left for the people who had bought them in advance, so they were taking our names down on a piece of paper and would reimburse us later.

Seriously? How many races does Disney put on a year? I understand mistakes happen, but for how expensive this race is, I'm really annoyed. Get more pins made or do something else (above and beyond) to make this good - don't just tell me I effectively gave Disney an interest-free loan of my money since I signed up (and paid for 4 pins) 5 months ago.

I do the races for the bling, and the pin is part of it. It's how I sucked my mom in. The last time I did Everest, my medal was ruined because of the rain and I never got a new one (despite many claims there would be one coming). This time, I'm not getting the pin.

I love Disney races; the atmosphere is fantastic and training helped me lose a huge amount of weight and get much, much healthier than I was. But I'm really ready to stop trying to convince other new runners to do the smaller races with me as an entry into running; they're just too expensive for the level of disorganization.

I am so sorry to read of the disorganization for the event over the pins. It is unbelievable.

I enjoyed running Everest and overall enjoyed the event- The only part I was frustrated with was the final obstacle and wish they would've yelled about the choices before I was halfway up the ropes waiting for the people in front of me to get over- If there wasnt people behind me I'd have gotten down and chosen another but probably added 3-4 min to my time more than I'd have liked :( I am super happy about my time but still...

I got a tad frustrated about the clues mainly cause I over thought most of them and not having them "checked" at the end- I wish I wouldve known as I wouldnt have stopped to make sure my writing was legible :)

Post race I thought was a tad crowded but things moved quickly- Everest in the dark was amazing! I would've liked a better snack choice like the Princess 5K and had to end up buying dinner..

Will I run it again- Probably but I had a great time (and realizing when the results came out how decent I did may convince me to run again :))

My cousin and I ran the race and over all we loved it. there were a couple of things we wished were done a bit different.
We were in Wave 6 and we stuck behind so many walkers. Our time was a bit slower than we wanted because we were trying to pass so many people. I think next time they need to ask the question are you planning on running or walking, the course didn't allow for to much ease in getting around people.
As for the scavenger hunt piece it was easy over all. we had an issue with the first clue because when we came back in we got stuck with guest coming in and could not see the first check in point even though we solved the clue superfast. after that we flew through the rest. we probably lost a good 8 minutes on the first clue because we went too far into the park.
Everest in the dark was the best!!! Loved it!

We are thinking of making this an every other year event! We had a blast!!!
