All 181 roller coasters I've ridden

I can't believe someone that has ridden the Beast doesn't rank it in their top 5 woodies:rolleyes:

DW and I tried to do a count of coasters we've been on together a couple years ago and got up into the 70's before we started having memory issues :)

I'd rank Beast as the best wooden coaster I've ever been on (Son of Beast is just WAY too rough) and either Hulk, Millenium Force, or Alpengeist (at Busch Gardens Williamsburg) as the best steel.

Wow, that's a lot of coasters! I've only started to really enjoy roller coasters in the last few years. When I was younger, the only roller coasters I would go on were Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, plus a few other small ones like Runaway Train in Great Adventure. I guess Rolling Thunder was what helped to get me over my fear of roller coaster rides lol. I remember the first time I rode it I was about 10 and I got scared just by looking at it. But then I went on it and I loved it, and since then I have not been as afraid to go on any ride. Even if it does look a little scary, I still try it anyways.

Glad to see that Hershey Park is on your list of best parks. I will be going there for the first time this year and I can't wait!

Barry - Do you have a stomach made of steel? Or are you a young kid? I USED to like the coasters, but the old fashioned wooden kinds. Way back in the late 70's, early 80's a friend of mine and I rode the rebel yell at kings dominion in VA 36 times in one day and that was WAY cool! :) I tried a coaster (plain wooden) last summer and it made me ill! I also tried rock & roller coaster and knew then that my coaster days were over :(

I bow before you oh coaster king! :Pinkbounc

Barry - My dentist just got back from a trip to Florida including WDW and Universal Studios. He told me that he and his family got to ride the new "Mummy" ride at US. Is that the same coaster ride that you said your are anticipating? He said that they just happened to be in the right place at the right time. This was a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps US is doing technical rehersals right now. Maybe if you camp out there, you can get an early ride.

I agree with TalkisCheap - Cedar Point is way better than IOA even with the unbearable crowds and the horrible heat and humidity. There is just so much more to do there.

Barry - you need to swing on over to CA and you can easily add 20 coasters to you list in the LA area alone.

Six Flags MAgic Mountain would rank above IOA for me as well.

Superman, Viper, X, Goliath, Scream, Batman, The Riddler's Revenge, Revolution, Ninja, DeJa Vu, Flashback, Psyclone, and the grandaddy of them all Colossus.

Then there is Paramounts Great America - Top Gun, Demon, Grizzly, and Vortex.

I am a coaster enthusiast as well and plan to get to many of the parks you mention.

Okay, then.

If it frightened you, there's no chance of me getting on that monster!!!:teeth:

It didn't frighten me. I just almost blacked out on it!

how can you POSSIBLY have liked IOA more than Cedar Point? Don't get me wrong, I loved IOA but Cedar Point was......so much better(though the lines were unbearable and they should really get a pass like IOA(if the haven't already...I went a couple years ago) But, just my opinion

-Caroline princess:

Hmm...I don't see a Spiderman ride at Cedar Point, but Cedar Point is a pretty balanced park -- great rides, good food, great employees, and a good time!

BTW, you will notice that there are no Six Flags parks on my top 5 parks list. That's because the balance isn't there in those parks. They may have great rides, but sometimes the employees or the food is lacking.

This may be shocking, but I personally don't like the Beast. It may be long, but there are too many spots of where it goes really fast and nothing happens. I think I need to give it another chance when I'm by PKI next. I didn't like Millenium Force when I first rode it.

Is 32 young? I have a stomach of steel because I ate school food from K to 12! :)

I was going to ask if you had been to SFMM as well.

My 16 yr old DD is the roller coaster fanatic - but I have been on many with her.

She loves IOA. I really prefer the atmosphere there and of course FOTL is great - but her favorite park for riding coasters is SFMM. I hate the lines - waited 2.5 hours for X - but lots of great coasters there.

Yep, that is the one the dentist rode. I would ride it, but I haven't got the time to make the journey. :(

If you're ever down in Richmond, swing by Paramount's King's Dominion....I think you'd like Volcano the Blast Coaster. It's my current favorite and I have ridden the Hulk (haven't been to Cedar Point yet). It's not as long as the Hulk, but what an awesome launch!

Thanks so much for posting your list. I personally am too chicken to go on anything that goes upside down. I have done The Demon and Batman at Six Flags Great America, however. After the last ime I rode Batman in which we all swear they sped it up, I nearly passed out from fear and had severe enough breathing problems that I almost had to go get checked out. I stick to the others now, and Whizzer is my favorite. So glad they did not tear that one down.

   Blasphemy !!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

The one thing I don't like about Millenium Force is the lift hill...A good lift hill should build the anticipation, and that one is just too darn fast going up (the elevator lift they use).

The best time to ride the Beast is just before dark, and (of course) up front. When you get out into the woods you can't really see what's coming next, and the hill that drops into the tunnel is just awesome in the twilight, since it really doesn't look big enough to fit :)

Oh, and BTW....I couldn't agree more about Spiderman :) Absolutely the best "dark" ride I've ever seen...and nothing else is even close !

Barry, you are my idol!

I live in NJ and my fave roller coater is the "Scream machine" at six flags. I like Nitro, Batman, Medusa, et al, but there is something about that one that's the best.

Glad to see you've been to my neck of the woods. Hope you liked it here.

Such great rides at Six Flags Great Adventure...Rotting Lumber and the Great American Pain Machine...no really, GASM really hurt when I rode it and Rolling Thunder didn't do much expect rot. :)

ok so you're right on that Barry(not having spiderman)...but we're talking coasters here...I definatly wouldn't say spiderman was a coaster

I cant believe you skipped DeJaVu at Six Flags Great America! You must give that a spin if given the chance!

Nice list!

Hey, what about the awesome coasters at Indiana Beach??? ;)

Actually, they aren't too bad. We have fun going up there with the kids on weekends. :)

Would you believe that we traveled from northwest florida to go to Indiana Beach? We also went to Holiday World on the way up.

Indiana Beach is a really unique park. I'm not sure you could explain the place to someone who's never been. The Cornball Express is a GREAT coaster. The Hoosier Hurricane needed more speed. The Lost Coaster is INSANE:crazy: . A highlight of the trip was when me and the wife went to dinner in the Skyroom Restaurant...had a window seat....and got to see our kids ride by on the sky-lift.

Nice list!

Deja Vu was down when I visited. I think I was down for most of the season.
