Alien Encounter?

This attraction requires a firm grip on reality, and is generally not a good idea for children under 10. It's very much an adult/adolescent attraction.

But if you go into it thinking that you will be entertained, not threatened, then it's a hoot! It thought it would be like the movie "Aliens", but it's really much milder than that. I didn't even realize the quick "spray" (not even as bad as the dog sneeze in Muppetvision at MGM) was supposed to be blood, or if I did it didn't make much impression.

For me the best part is the sarcasm and social commentary about corporations who place product and profit above all else, including in this case the lives of their customers. It's not particularly subtle; e.g. the teleportation device is marketed by "XS Technology". But it's good entertainment, just very different from Winnie the Pooh (which I also enjoy).

The first time we went on Alien Encounter I was anxious and nervous not knowing what would happend but we both LOVE it.

We enjoy taking a new friend on that's hasn't been on yet just to see and hear their reaction (a bit cruel I admit). I think observing the reactions of every one around you is part of the experience.

Of course it's not for younger children or even a child who may be older but tends to get frightened easily.

If you enjoy a bit of adrenaline rushing through the veins, I think you'll enjoy it.:sunny:

Alien Encounter is probably my least favorite attraction in MK. The preshow is good, but in the actual show I think they could add a little more hummor, a little less violence, and a dash more fun. I heard a rummor they may be retheming the attration to Stitch pretty soon. Hope it's true; that's just what the attraction needs.

DH and DD (14) went on a visit last year, and said it was "hokey". Simply because the line was very short on a later visit, we all decided to go, including DS (7). He is one of those kids who loves "wild" rides, including Space Mountain (had to stretch to get him on as a four-year-old, but he is crazy about it) At any rate, I am thinking he has no problem with the dark and the intensity of Space Mtn so this so-called "hokey" experience won't bother him (or me, of course.) I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. He CRIED during part of AE (that has never happened on any sort of ride) and I was so uspet that we were stuck in it. Intense does not describe it. There are at least a couple of times when you will very literally jump. If you are older, and in a group of teens or young adults then they will generally deal with the experience by laughing, which might make it less negative, but still not enjoyable in my book. If you don't like sudden surprises and generally creepy, violent themes then this is NOT for you.

Well as far as adults go, we all know its just Disney, and the only thing that could bother you is that it is very loud at some points. As far as getting wet, that is a bit overrated but it is a bit of a spray. My son (8 at the time) did not really like it ( but he did go on it), for awhile. I think a lot of that had to do with because it was so loud for him. He goes now, 6 years later, no problem, so that could be a concern for some children. The loudness intensifies things for children. Good luck, and have fun.

It is gross when the alien breathes on your nrck, but I found a way to avoid this, when the shoulder bar starts to lower stop it a few inches before your shoulder, that way you can move your head and don't get the breathing and slurping sounds.

The first time I went on it with my DH.I'm one of those people that HATES scary movies!(The blanket is always in front of my eyes!-I'm 35!)I was SO scared-but in a fun sort of way.You had to laugh when those gross things happened.Like the blood, breathing on your neck etc.Of course I would scream first and THEN laugh. My DM didn't go on because she was with my DS.When we got out my DH said to go back on it with her.So we did and I laughed my *** off.I had prepared my DM so she laughed too(and screamed a few times!).The first time is the worst because you don't know what to expect-after that it's a breeze!!!

I did it once and will never do it again. I kept my eyes closed the whole time (not that it mattered because once the lights go out you are in TOTAL darkness).

This rides freaked me out!!! Even though I kept telling myself that it was all fake - I still hated every second of it and kept waiting for it to end.

With that said, I still think you should go on it once just so you can experience it. It IS very well done . . . if it wasn't so realistic I wouldn't have a problem getting on it again. It's just way too intense for me.
