Another post I was reading made me stop to think about Alien Encounter, one of my favorite Magic Kingdom attractions. It still scares the bejesus out of me, even though I've done it a dozen times and know exactly what's going to happen and when.

I really think there might not be a more divisive ride in not only the kingdom, but perhaps the World (of walt).

Do you love this thrill ride, or hate it?

Richard

I love it, especially sitting right up front.

I will never forget the first time I went on that attraction. Me and my Sis-in-Law didnt know what to expect and all we saw were the warning signs. We were so scared, we clawed eachothers arms up.... but loved every minute of it. I have been on it NUMEROUS times over the years and still get the "bejesus" scared out of me. Couldn't believe my ears the first time I heard someone say they didnt like it!!

It seem that the ones who hate this attraction are those who think WDW is required to cater only to the 12 and under crowd, and to the most sensitive of those at that. There's plenty of warning, explicit and implicit, that this is not Tinker Bell's domain. Plenty of kids, of all ages, enjoy having the cr@p scared out of them, fully realizing that nobody is going to be harmed. Anyone who has difficulty separating fantasy from reality should avoid AE. As for me, I enjoyed it a lot the first few times, but it pales with each repetition.

I did not like it and will never go on it again....however 9 year old daughter loved it and when we go back next month it is the first ride she wanted to go on????

We just got back from WDW yesterday and did AE for the very first time....We Loved It! (my Dh and and I ) We had planned on doing it again but never got the chance. We will do it for sure again in January!!

I hate it and hope I never have to go on it again. I do go on all the "coasters", etc. that others I'm with sometimes don't want to go on, so I'm not just liking the kiddy rides. Everyone I know hates it too. You asked!

Hate it.

Went for the first time with hubby a couple of weeks ago. I guess I just didn't see the "fun" in it and didn't even find it that scary. I would never take my kids to it....I think it's too much for little ones, but not enough for big ones. Now, Tower of Terror....THAT scares me! I scream my lungs out everytime!!!!

I love getting scared, but I HATED Alien Encounter. It wasn't scary to me, just stupid (sorry, fans - you asked!). I've had more pleasant MRI's, and I just kept thinking, "this is it?" Plus, I was laughing so hard because my daughter was truly trying to break out of the restraint (I know, I'm terrible, but I was trying to help her and obviously I couldn't, so I kept saying, it'll be over soon) and I kept thinking, "she's gonna break this ride"

Oh well, the rest of the park exceeded all memories and expectations, this just was odd to me.

Good question though!

Absolutely love it !! One of my favorite attractions in all of WDW. Hope I get a chance to experience it next month. Not looking forward to a stitch makeover.

I don't like Alien Encounter either. The seating is uncomfortable, the humor is sadistic, and it just came off to me as rediculous insteed of either humerous or frightening. It was like drinking flat soda. This and Sounds Dangerous at MGM are both my least favorite attractions at WDW. I've heard rumors that they might be changing the theme to Stitch, so I'm hoping they do something to fix the attraction while doing the rehab.

I love it. It's different from the rest of the attractions in that area, but I still enjoy it. Its fun.

What do you guys think about this ride for my 6 year old? We've never been on it before because of the height requirement. However, so far, nothing has seemed to bother her. She was bored with the majority of the rides in Fantasyland at 4 - except for the TeaCups and Barnstormer. She loved Tower of Terror and the Dinosaur ride at 5. She's a roller coaster junkie, the ones she's been able to go on. December will be her first time at the right height for Space Mountain, and she can't wait. Based on this, do you think she'll be okay on Alien Encounter? I have no idea what it's like, and I'm just curious.

You may want to try it out first and see what you think. My DD went on it at 7, and was OK. I told her a little bit about it first, so she had an idea what would happen. I don't think she would have liked it if everything was a surprise.

No matter HOW MANY TIMES I go on I am always terrified...I KNOW nothings going to happen, but maybe...just maybe...this time a REAL alien made it through, no just kidding...but I love it and am convinced I will be terrified no matter how many times I go on it...KINDA LIKE DINOSAUR at AK.....THATS crazy!

BTW, I have to ask I got hooked on these boards....what does DH, DS, DD mean?? Its usually when people are talking about family that I see these things? ANy help I feel so stupid?

Dear Husband, Dear Son, Dear Daughter, etc. Some people use it as Darling, or Disney, but I, and others have always seen it as Dear, either way, you get the idea.

Well said, Bill.
I enjoy this ride and will be very upset to see it go. I think the theming is incredible with the XS Tech storyline.

LOVE IT!!

This attraction is HILARIOUS; from the time Skippy gets fried thru the commander getting sent to Earth & getting eaten to the end when they finally get the creature back in the transporter & transport it off of Earth. Great images & storyline.
