Alfredo's closing permanently?

However, they'll probably turn into another "All Princesses, All the Time" or "All Pooh, All the Time" character buffet.

Heaven forbid adults wanting to stroll World Showcase and enjoy unique meals during the evening hours without little girls in Cinderalla costumes and clunky tennis shoes running around :sad2:

"Yes, I'm being sarcastic and doom & gloomy." I have no idea what they are planning

At this point, we still don't even know if it's true.

Palio's at the Walt Disney World Swan was one of our favorites. It was a WDW Best Kept Secret. Now, that's closed and is being replaced by another italian restaurant. I don't understand why an excellent restaurant with great reviews would close. Any detains? Will it be the same chef?

Tina :)

That's funny. We only ate at Palio once and it was TERRIBLE. It's funny how everyone has different experiences. Il Mulino is now open there. I've eaten at Il Mulino in Vegas and it was very good. I'll be trying Il Mulino in the Swan/Dolphin in May.

That's sad. We've eaten there since it first opened and we have alot of happy memories of good meals and fun times with friends and family (especially when my kids were young).

I know that Alfredos always had mixed reviews, but we never had a bad meal there. But people do have different experiences. That's why I don't understand why some people are happy that Alfredos is closing, even though they've never tried it.:confused3

Hopefully, if Alfredos does close, they will put a good restaurant there and not some fast food garbage.

okay folks, now i want pasta for dinner! :rotfl:

I vote for another great pasta place to go in, but not a chain.

some kind of place that makes their own marsalla sauce,
fra diavalo, or even veal for those who enjoy it(not me)
some tuscan dishes, or even.....

actually anthing would be nice. still want pasta for dinner now though.......:rolleyes1

There are only a discrete number of TS options that will ever be available at Epcot. If one which has such a consistently bad rep is replaced by a restaurant which is warmly-regarded, that will be a great boon for guests.

I know that Alfredos gets mixed reviews (and so do many other good restaurants in WDW), but I don't think it has such a bad reputation.

Whenever we've eaten there for dinner is is always crowded, so I would assume they are making money. I'm guessing if they are closing, it has something to to with a contract they have with Disney.

:cool1: I've learned something new from this thread...I never knew there were restuarants on Disney that were runned by other corporations...interesting. Makes sense, if there contract is up..maybe they don't want to renew it, or maybe Disney wants something different. I've never personally have eatten here, but my mother did and said it really wasnt that good. But everyone has there own opinions about things, it's nice to just read and see what other people think. ;)

That would really be unfortunate. Every time we're there it's jammed. My bet is that it has something to do with the DDP, if the rumor is accurate.

At this time, I'm not sure how believable this rumor is. First of all, the story from Intercot lists "Walt Disney World has announced..." and yet there's nothing I can find as an official release from WDW in regard to this story. Now being the “day after,” the writer at Intercot is still the only one reporting on it. Either this guy has a great inner source, or he’s been led astray.

Also, Disney reservations still are not aware of any change with the restaurant (though not completely a reliable source, it does seem strange). The story from Intercot also says "Guests who have advanced dining reservations beyond the closing date (reported to be late July) will be contacted by Disney in order to make alternate arrangements." If that's the case, you’d think Disney dining reservations would have this information. Though, it could be said that telling guests that a restaurant was closing (rather than just a popular location changing hands) would not make corporate sense in a effort to keep the reservations moving.

Though I won't go as far to say the Intercot story is a hoax - it does seem pretty strange. I have eaten at Alfredo's nearly every time I've gone to Epcot - and though their non-pasta dishes have varied in quality - their lasagna is very good - and I challenge anyone to find a better Alfredo. It would be a shame to lose this signature restaurant.

That is sad news for our family if it is true. We tried it on a wim this last trip and everyone wants to go back. Whenever we asks what every one wants for dinner since then, my DS11 almost always jokingly pipes up with "Alfredos!" :goodvibes Can't beat the atmosphere and we liked the food too!

oh man, we've wanted to try this for years and keep putting it on the back burner! maybe i should change some more may ressies around??

Seams to me if it were true Disney would have said something when they allowed me to make my ADR there for August. :confused3

Landry's is the management company/restaurant group that runs The Rainforest cafe and the new AK restaurant (Yak and Yeti??) It has a whole host of themed restaurants (I've only ever heard of Rainforest, there is about 20 others) They are also opening T-Rex at DTD sometime in the future. I looked on their website and they do have an Italian!!!! Landry's takes over WDW!

Perhaps, as others have said, the contract is up on the space, and is not to be renewed. Staff are usually the last people to find out that sort of news.

Does the DDP accept non-Disney restaurants? I know Rainforest isn't accepted, but are there others? We've only done the DDP once and we didn't dine off of it. hhmmmm....I noticed the Landry's website has an Italian restaurant.

I'm putting together a conspiracy theory in my head. :)

Well, hate to blow your theory, but yes, Alfredo's is on the DDP, as is San Angel. Kind of a hit or miss as far as non-Disney owned places go - but when they're sit-down in the parks, they're on the DDP.

i heard they are putting in a olive garden and red lobster will be a replacement
for coral reef. lol

I fear the same thing! :scared1:

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't realize how good Alfredo's was until I actually ate a meal there.
