Alex & Tim's PJ: SBP/Sago Cay/YSH 12/09/09: UPDATED-Hair is done!

We just might do it! Tell you what, there'd be no cake left out of the three layers by the end of the week either...

I think it would be great! Depends on costs, but then we were going to get ourselves both a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery.

You know what I've always wanted to do? Get a cake, take a picture, shove my face in the top, take another picture. I am SO going to do this in December, and so is Tim, so why not do it with our HIS and HERS wedding cakes? Not on the day though, not after paying for hair and makeup :scared1:

We didn't have a problem with the music really. We can't make our minds up about the Recessional though. We are swinging towards Star Trek: Next Generation coz we love it and are big fans. Plus my Dad reminds me of Jean-Luc Picard!

I think I'm going to get them to play the Darth Vader theme (Imperial March) for when Dad and I first walk up the aisle as a bit of a joke. Tim would just fall about laughing.

Let us know what you decide on :goodvibes

RE: the 3 Layers...Make that top layer his-it's small. The 2nd layer yours...its bigger...and the bottom layer OURS...its the biggest! :lovestruc

I think the Darth Vader theme is a RIOT! It would break up some of the nervousness of it all...DF and I have been together for 7.5-almost 8 years and I know I'll get nervous...Good way to break the tension :rotfl2:

Love the idea of getting cakes prior and smashing them then. Have you thought of doing like a grooms cake at a welcome dinner or something?

I love your ideas! :dance3:

Love the Darth Vader theme idea, i'd thought about doing that myself, not sure i'm brave anough to do it though.

I don't tend to get nervous, just very excited, but Tim does so you're right it would break up the tension a bit. I had thought of a grooms cake but need to check if we can have it at the House of Blues which is where our welcome dinner is going to be.

I like the idea of the his, hers, ours. Brilliant! Need to price it up now.

Glad you like my ideas! Im trying to keep it very classy but with some fun in there too.

I would only do it for a short section as Tim wants classical music, but I think it would be brilliant. Our best mate Toby is a huge Star Wars fan (he bought one of the original Storm Troopers helmets at a massive cost) and he would just roar with laughter too.

We would love to have Vivaldi's Winter played as the recessional but it is such a difficult piece of music. No disrespect to the violinists but I want to check that they are comfortable playing it before we request it.

Love your PJ

Your dress and jewelery are gorgeous :worship:

Good news about getting your planner.

you need to post pics of your veil and tiara. I too am really not wanting to pay over the odds for a veil, might check ebay and see what theyve got??

Linz xxx :)

I love your cake idea that is too cute!!! When it came to picking our flavors it was super easy as I don't care for cake really and it was all him haha!!

Hummers. Love 'em or hate 'em. We absolutely adore them! So, I've been on a mission to track a stretch one down to use on the wedding day to pick us up from the Boardwalk to GFC to POR back to the Boardwalk.

They aren't cheap so we've been trying to work out the timings to keep it to 3 hours and we've just about done it. We'll need to hire the limo for an extra hour to take us back to the Boardwalk but it is cheaper than having the Hummer for the extra hour just to go a couple of miles down the road! We still get to go in it twice and if there is any time left we'll do a few Disney ringroad laps :goodvibes

I checked that they could do Disney weddings as an outside vendor and they said they have done loads of of them. Great. Sorted out dates, tentative times, costs, payment methods etc.

Checked with our planner as to what time we would need to leave the Boardwalk as we were having a stretch Hummer and she said it was something Disney could organise. Grrrr!

There are several things I have asked that they can do that aren't in the planning kit - different flavours for the layers of the cake being one of them.

I really wish they had more details like this in the planning kit, but then I guess that is one of the reasons for having the planning telephone calls. That's one of the reasons I find everything on here so great, you wouldn't know half of the things you can or can't do without it.

Still love them though - lovely people to deal with :lovestruc

I e-mail my contact nearly weekly with different questions whenever I think of something new. I always think you might as well ask even if you think the answer will be no.

Think of it this way...if they provided you with a ton of options that is just the more indecisive you could be between now and when everything has to be finalized :rotfl: (My biggest dilema is wanting outside photo-I've narrowed it down to 3...and can't make up my mind. Could you imagine what would happen if I had more than 1 or 2 choices on anything else!?!?)
If you have something that you HAVE TO HAVE and you're just personalizing that one little bit...the more your cost will stay down and the more you will be with in your budget. :cool1:
I talked to a mentor of mine yesterday and he said that he gave his daughter a budget and that was blown in 2 months! :scared1: When I told him we were having a Disney wedding he rolled his eyes and said "That figures." I didn't have the heart to tell him that I'm under budget and have a little wiggle room! So, he can roll his eyes all he wants.

We would like to hire a hummer Limo too and have looked at outside vendors to get the cost then I will ask Disney to see what their price is.

Have Disney given you a price yet?

The hummer limo we looked at online could hold 18 people and said it was FROM $130 an hour

Linz xxx :)

Oooh, Linz, please give me the details! Disney came back to say they could do it for $180 per hour but I don't know if that included a service charge. The company I've been speaking to has quoted $155 per hour + 20% service charge and tax. Originally they thought we wanted to make separate journeys on the day and the price was $425. Then they realised we wanted to charter it for 3 hours and it went to $155+service+tax.

Fair play to Disney - after my little whinge. They came back to say that they would recommend orgainising the Hummer ourselves as they use a company that outsources to another company (!) and they have been let down in the past by them not showing up.

BOOKED THE STRETCH HUMMER!!!

I've booked a white stretch Hummer to take us from the Boardwalk to the Grand Floridian, then Port Orleans and back to the Boardwalk. Just Tim and me, and my parents, are travelling in it but we are going to have everyone in it back to the Boardwalk so they get a ride in it.

I got a really good price on it so we are happy :yay: :yay:

YAY - THE BOARDWALK IS BOOKED!!

We rented some DVC points a couple of years ago and the lady we booked them with has been holding points for us to use for the wedding week and she booked for us yesterday.

We have 2 nights in a garden view 1-bed villa, followed by 3 nights in a standard view. We are on standby for the two nights to change to a standard view, and we also got two nights for my Mom and Dad.

It has cost us so much less doing this way and there is no way we could have afforded it otherwise so we are eternally grateful to her.

Boardwalk here we come!!

You mean the Boardwalk Garden Suites? If it is, then they look lovely! I would love to stay there, they just are so expensive- $600 a night??

I think i need to find out about the DVC thing, ive been hearing loads of people talking / writing about how much money they have saved when booking for their wedding. heh!

Yeah they look lovely but they are expensive. I just hope we get the standard view instead.

Renting DVC points is brilliant - there is no way we could have done it otherwise. I'm not sure how much it would have cost us rack rate but we have 5 nights (our rentor is not charging us for the extra points for the garden view as she is sure we will get a standard view) in a 1-bed villa and another 2 nights in another 1-bed villa for my parents and it is costing us $1200.

I got 2 nights at the Boardwalk in a studio on our last trip for $180.
