Hi all--

My side of the family (my mom, dad, sister and brother) are thinking about a Disney Cruise.

My sibs are more into the alcoholic drinks.

I'm not a drinker, so I have no idea what drinks cost on board.

Can someone give me a range of what drinks cost?
Things like Margaritas, Bahama Mamas, etc?
Also, how much is wine by the glass with dinner?

And can you bring your own wine on board to have in your stateroom or is that against the rules? I haven't seen anything that says either way.

Thank you.

~Mary

We found that both the mixed drinks and the wine list to be quite reasonably priced. Certainly within the range one would expect to pay in a restaurant. I couldn't quote drink prices because they are all charged to the room and at the end of the cruise we just go to guest services and empty our pockets!

And yes, you may bring wine and other beverages aboard to enjoy in your stateroom or - in the case of wine - to have served at dinner (for a corkage fee). Wines purchased from the Wine List do not incur the corkage fee. Your room steward will provide a cork pull and wine bucket for your stateroom at no charge.

As mentioned prices are reasonable and there is always a "drink of the day" that is priced less than the other drinks. there is also a refillable beer mug program (though I don't have the prices for that).

You may certainly bring on your own booze onboard.....DCL is one of the only cruiselines that lets you do this. We always bring some wine bottles onboard and then purchase some alcohol at the different ports to bring onboard and consume.

DCL also has two wine packages with different amount of bottles to use during your cruise. If you don't finish a bottle they will hold it for you until the next night. Any unused bottles you can take home (though then you have to deal with airline regulations regarding liquids).

Somewhere out there someone has a sample drink menu with prices...maybe they will post it....

I would very much like to see this information as well....we're not big drinkers, but would like to see such a list and more info on the refillable beer mug idea.

Also...are the wine packages a good deal?

Cheers,
Josh

I am getting ready formy fourth cruise... not a big drinker but love a margarita and so I bring a couple of the premixed bottles of marg. on the ship with me. THen I buy a drink at the sailaway party with the glass... fill it up each day in the room and carry it with as I go lie by the pool....:cool1:
Happy days! Some people even bring a magic bullet for their room!:confused3

Ok, don't quote me but I believe the drink of the days are generally $4.50? As far as wine or beer, I can't help you - sorry... But I'm pretty sure most if not everything is right in line with a 'regular' restaraunt type alcohol pricing!

when we sailed the Wonder on April 29 - May 03, 2007 the drink of the day was like $3.95 plus gratuity the 4 night wine pkg was $105.00 for the classic and $159.00 for the premium they also have a martini tasting for $15.00 and a wine tasting for $19.00 we brought a bottle of rum and had a pirate good time...pirate:

Pop is Free except if you get it from Room Service
Beer: $3.25-$4.50 and include: Tap Beer Bud,Miller Lite,Heineken
Canned Beer: Bud,Bud Lite,Coors Lite,Icehouse,Miller Draft,Miller Lite,Beck's Guiness,Heineken
Bottled Beers: Amstell Light,Bass, Corona

Mixed Drinks: $3.00-$6.00 each

Beer Mug: Check the lounges for a Refillable Glass Beer Mug for $15.00.
Get the 22oz refills for the 16 oz. price. You'll need to buy 10-12 beers in order to break even.

Wine Package: Commit to a bottle of wine for each night of your cruiseand save more than 25% off list price. You can choose your wine from a list at each meal. The 7 Night cruise's Classic Wine Package is $145.00 and the Premium Wine Package is $265.

Remember, there is an Automatic Gratuity of 15% added to All Beverage Purchases!

Like other posters have said, you can always bring a bottle on board, fix your drinks in your room and bring them to dinner. If you pour your wine in the room, there's No Corkage Fee. You can also Brng Beer onboard in a Soft Side cooler,no ice and just ask your room steward to keep it filled with ice for you.

Hope this helps. I got all this info from my copy of "Passporters Field Guide to the Disney Cruiseline"

Some folks bring a 'mixer' on board - something like rum or vodka that's pretty flexible & can be mixed w/different stuff from the drink stations. We're planning on bringing amaretto, kahula & rum I think.

Do most people just go with the gratuity that is included with the price or do they add more? :confused3

It all depends on the service we received. If it was above average, we added something.

The drink prices are very reasonable on DCL. We cruised NCL and were appalled at the cost of their drinks--$9.25-9.75 when the comparable drink on DCL would be about $5.

I usually add to the tip if the wait person came to me--like on Castaway Cay.

The automatic tip for drinks is 15%. If the server or bartender goes above we give him/her $1-2 more. There was one bartender at the quiet cove pool that was awesome. I can't remember his name but he was from England and he made the best mojitos. He spent time making sure the mint was crushed and everything was mixed right so we always gave him $3 more.
