Also to add, the process is said to take awhile (year).
I wonder if that is a year to announce, or a year to implement?

I agree Sarah, when I talk to my friends about trying out a Dis cruise it is one of the perks I let them know about. I am hearing stories about the cheaper cruise lines about all the little charges that add up fast. Hope you enjoy your next cruise on the Fantasy. This was my first on her and was truly a special time.
I have also heard this not exactly because of the reasons you quote but I posted last month on an alcohol thread a change was coming. But do not get any campaign up until it's actually announced, I understood it to be a limitation, you might be allowed something but restricted.
And I posted about new ships but not in production, but an order.....
That caused this.
Just sayin'
Do as dad does.....
Alcohol limitations always frustrate me because I don't drink wine (or beer)--it's all mixed drinks for me. So letting me bring a bottle of wine does absolutely nothing.
That said, I hope they don't change this rule. It's one of the reasons why my husband and I, as a couple with no children, choose to sail Disney.
I appreciated your post. I thought you made it clear you had heard it as a rumor. My first reaction was "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo."
My second reaction "Gosh I hope it's not true; I'll be mad!"
My final reaction was "Well, I can't control it and they have me hooked on DCL. So might as well not worry about it."
Either way I've enjoyed the discussion and I am sorry you've felt attacked.![]()
If people want to bring alcohol on board they are going to find ways to sneak it on like they do other cruise lines. I really don't see the point in DCL banning it.
I bring a case of Corona on board every cruise. Bought a rolling soft cooler for this a few years back. But now Disney banned them. So I couldnt figure how to bring the bottles on board. I put them in my backpack, which sucked...
I see a guy but a case through the metal detectors. Which is now what I do..
But in Miami, I get through the and start walking through the lobby and someone stops me saying I cant bring the case. Something about the cardboard or other BS.....
I asked the person are you a Disney employee or a contractor, the person says contractor. I reply you dont know what your talking about get a Disney employee. Someone comes running up to the guy and says to me I'm fine.
Its just so weird that people dont know the rules and try to act like police...

Not going to believe it on the word of a server on one ship, but I would hope it doesn't apply to purchasing alcoholic beverages in port as we are off to the land of rum in a month.
Was not our server, it was a higher source. Trying to be drecreet. We picked up some rum in Grand Cam. Try the banana.
just out of curiousity, what is your reason for trying to protect your source?
Then again sometimes it is just blowing smoke.
well, if it's as the OP said they were told and it's to prevent children from drinking out of their parents' stock, either it will apply to beverages purchased in port or they'll have to confiscate and hold every bottle of booze you buy in port (which I think is what other lines do). That's really nice for the local purveyors, to have all these cruise ship guests saying "sorry, we can't buy any of your wares, they are banned from our ship entirely."
