Alcohol policy was changed August 2015

Are you referring to grand Cayman? How/where did you purchase alcohol and get it back on the ship??
Sorry I have been off the boards for awhile. There was a Toruga Rum shop very close to the entry gate. At the time we just bought it and brought it back on the ship, kept in stateroom. I think that has changed now.

Wm Shakespeare titled a play about this thread, I believe....

anyhow, we are now wildly speculating not only about an alcohol policy rumor BUT also:

why someone would want to protect a source
the reasons/logic behind such a move and the repercussions
future alcohol policy

I truly enjoy this thread as a way to shake off the doldrums.....

it will need to wind down naturally or be replaced buy some large announcement from DCL or new fare increases.....or maybe the Target card discount will expire....

anyhow, Im waiting for someone to start a thread with "We have sailed 72 times over the past 6 years, and in my vast experience I have found that....."

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:
HaHa. Enjoy this....

Good Job Pal!!!! I was the first to bring up the change that was coming for the liquor policy and you were right about the new ships. Feels good to be right!!!
Hilarious!!! I had to read back to figure out what the heck I was ranting about. LOL

I just got off the fantasy this past Saturday. Maybe it's because if the whole hurricane thing and then wanting to hurry up to get us on the ship, but...they never once searched our carry on or asked us if we had alcohol. We ended up packing and bringing on beer in our carry on. Also at ports they were letting people bring in more than their 6 beers per person as the policy states. My wife and I brought on 4 6-packs ourselves at grand cayman. Yet we still spent $300-$400 on alcohol during the 7 day cruise (and no we weren't wasted....but those drink prices add up fast).

They didn't have you put your carry ons through the xray machine when entering the terminal? Wow! That's a huge lapse in security procedures!

No they had us run them through the X-ray machines, but I had 12 beers in the carry on when it was just me and they weren't 16 oz not 12 oz. I figured they would have asked to see them or say that I couldn't have 12 since the policy states 6 per person and my wife had already went through the line 30 min before me so I was by myself

Any updates on this? Can you still bring on board in the ports and enjoy on the ship?

Is it strictly beer or are would I be able to bring on board a 6 pack of a mixed drink like Twisted Tea or Palm Bay?

Just beer or wine I'm afraid...!

Unless it's a "malt beverage", which a lot of them are. Palm *Breeze* in the States is just such a travesty, as is Twisted Tea. Just look at the label when buying.

As noted elsewhere, if it looks like six cans in your bag then they don't even look. I could have brought on six 12 oz. cans of Scotch and they never would have noticed. As to canned Scotch, yes, they make it, and yes, it's horrible, but it does come in 12 oz. cans.

Could I get away with a 12 or 15 pack then? :rolleyes1 I'm guessing this is dependent on how strict security feels that day?
Exactly security is different at every port. I would tell you which ones or more lax, but then the DCL disboards police will come out and tell me I'm an immoral, teribble person that doesn't follow rules and I'm ruining Disney's profits.

I have had tequila in a can and you definitely get what you pay for there.
