Alcohol at Disney....

I agree totally!!!
Add us (all adults) to the majority. It is Disney, It is vacation, It is special!!!, we don't have to drive. We are responsible, We do not get drunk, we do not need to leave the MK for a drink, but we enjoy a beer or glass of wine at WDW. We do not bother anyone else and we enjoy ourselves.
OP, to me - your posts sounded very judgemental.

Maybe it's a MA thing, but you said it best! :worship:

Have fun, but don't go overboard I say.....if you do you hopefully don't have kids!

This is describes our trips as well. We'll have a couple of drinks by the pool, maybe something with dinner, a night cap.

We go especially for food and wine, so we set some money aside for some cocktails. We might get 4-5 throughout day, but we share and it's an adult-only vacation. We don't keep booze in our room.

At home, we are social drinkers. We always have wine ready for visitors that come eat at home, and we have the occasional cocktail while dining out.

I really don't like the queasy/drunk feeling, so I really don't enjoy overindulging in alcohol.

but we are on vacation and after a morning at the parks we head back to the villa and relax by the pool with an adiult beverage. Then we head out again and run the parks until dinner and yes, we occasionally have a beer at Prime Time or the Biergarten but with what Disney gets for a beer I can assure you we don't get sloshed.

After our day is done we go back and head to the pool to relax with another adult beverage or more. Neither of us get drunk. We just like relaxing with a drink.

Since you can't put booze in carry on luggage we have WeGoShop deliver what we need to the resort. I can't tell you how many times people have stopped at our table and said, "Darn, I wish we had thought or that." Or, "Can we join you for a drink?"

As long as they have their own mugs or cups we usually oblige. one couple from Australia partied with us the rest of the night. i thought I was going to have to buy more booze but the next day at the pool they showed up again and had gotten their own and offered to share. We made new friends!

Sorry if I sounded judgemental :goodvibes My husband and I routinely go to all inclusive resorts in Mexico and drink from 10am til 10pm! We love our drinks! :woohoo: For some reason we just don't see DW as a 'vacation to partyee'... We go other places to do that. I just can't imagine bringing in cases of beer for my hubby at DW. There is a difference though btwn 3 or 4 drinks over 12 hours versus getting sloppy drunk. :thumbsup2

France pavilion, there's a cart...also have Grey Goose vodka lemonade slushies! Delish! Must do every trip!

/QUOTE]

Yes!!! We have one Orange and one Lemonade and they were so good. There is no way we can go back there and not each have one.

I would say by the time we got to Germany my husband was on his 4th of 5th drink. We did not make it to eat/drink around the world that time!

My opinion? As long as you are 21 or older, don't overindulge and don't drive, have at it if you want to take in some alcoholic beverages. There are some good drinks in the parks.

I agree!

Count us in.... Especially Epcot and H.S. days... We love have drinks through out the day. We don't do it everyday just because I don't want to consume all those calories.

I find it very hard to get "buzzed" at Disney let alone "drunk" just because we are always moving and eating and burning the alcohol just as fast we drink it..

For us, a vacation is a vacation and we like to have a few drinks. We also like AI's as well.

I don't see what makes it any different.

I had a family member go to an AI in Mexico and was disgusted that the bars opened in the morning. I said "what about that morning Bloody Mary"...she didn't find it amusing LOL

While you may make that distinction, others do not.

I did have beer/wine delivered to the resort. It was nice to come back to the room and relax with a drink without paying $$$ prices!

This is an interesting topic as we and my inlaws are DVC members and have gone to WDW together (and will probably go together again). We drink and they don't. And by drink I mean 1 or 2... here and there. We do, sometimes, bring beer, wine or rum with us for use in our villa and we will get a drink with dinner and we love to get drinks in Epcot's WS. We don't drink every day and we have yet to get drunk at WDW. The most I've had in 1 day is 2 (maybe 3) drinks. DH probably has had 4 drinks in 1 day, but that is infrequent. If we are there for a 7 day trip, we will likely NOT have any drinks on 3 or 4 of those days. It is awkward when we are with the inlaws. We go back to one villa, to hang after a long day in the park...and they brew a pot of coffee and we want to pop open a beer or enjoy a glass of wine.

I want to get "chocolate wasted" at Disney! ;)

I don't think 2-3 a day is unreasonable, especially whilst on vacation.

That said, different strokes for different folks. I'll leave it at that.

This is my first multi-quote post. This thread really makes me wish the Dis had a 'like' button.

Be there in 12 days and then again for Food and Wine in October.

Hey, me too-but 8 days for me in the fall! CSR 8-10 to 8-12, Then WL 10-27 to 11-4.

As long as they have their own mugs or cups we usually oblige. one couple from Australia partied with us the rest of the night. i thought I was going to have to buy more booze but the next day at the pool they showed up again and had gotten their own and offered to share. We made new friends!

That's my kind of magic, right there!

No worries. Some of us see Disney as our party place, but it's certainly fine if its not that to you.

But we don't carry cases of beer, we take airplane bottles! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I often have more than 2 drinks a day at Disney. Especially at Epcot where there are so many drinks to try! I enjoy the fact that I don't have to worry about drinking and driving thanks to the buses, so it's sort of freeing for me to be able to drink with my husband when neither of us has to worry about being designated driver.

Do I NEED it? No. Do I ENJOY it? Yes. (I don't have kids, if that matters.)

This is my husband and I. We do not drink except on the rare occasion at home, we do not drink at the zoo or aquarium or carnivals or fairs but we do drink on occasion when we go to Disney. It is a family vacation but it is OUR vacation as well and if I or my husband would like to unwind with a grey goose slushie or a saki in Japan so be it. Only in Disney is there ZERO chance of us needing to drive anywhere. We do not get "wasted" in anyway and most certainly can go without but in EPCOT and with some meals we like to have a drink.

We also do not see the need to bring home a bunch of Disney branded souvenirs to collect dust so we choose to spend our money on different items.

I have seen posts of attempting to sneak this drink or that drink into a park and for me that is crossing the line.

That said I really don't worry about what other people do on their vacations unless they are so "wasted" they are interfering with my vacation.

A prior post on 'attractions and strategies' got me thinking. Someone wrote about how they had saved 1K for savings for extras like booze and souveniers. Others chimed in about how they carry their alcohol to the hotel, where they get their liquor etc etc. Then people chimed in about how 'their husband needs at least 4 beers per day at the parks to survive' or something of that nature and how they pack CASES of beer to put in their rooms.

My dad has gone to DW with us several times and needs a beer at the end of the day. I say 'needs' in quotes :) he says he's earned a beer for standiing in line all day :)

I can't imagine my dad drinking though all day in the parks. I also can't imagine my husband going on a family vacation and drinking 4 or 5 beers per day while in the parks. While that's not enough to be 'wasted' to me- it's a family trip- OUR family trip....a beer with dinner is fine but drinking a beer every 2 hours is a bit much. We've been known to order a bottle of wine and split it amongst a table of 4 but that's about it. Maybe I'm just a prude. Disney just isn't a place to 'drink' for us.

Does your family drink more than a drink or 2 per day while in DW?

A beer every 2 hours is to much? wow then apparently when i "drink around the world" at epcot is downright being a sloppy drunk then... It is my vacation to and it is not like i am driving as i am stuck on property... My family accepts that it is my vacation to... Plus i would never let my wife tell me that a beer every 2 hours is to much... When we take a family trip it is a vacation for ALL of us... Not just the kids

Um...........YUP!!! We are all adults and visit WDW 3 times a year. We don't have to worry about driving. We don't have to worry about getting up for work in the am. To each their own. I understand some people do not drink and that is ok. We do and that is ok. It is what makes the World go round!!! We bring a bottle of vodka, southern comfort and beers. We don't drink it all but it is there if we want it. We also bring water, pepsi and oj. And not just for mixes:goodvibes Who cares how anyone else has fun as long as you don't bother anyone do what you want!

On our last trip to WDW, I was so excited when I "discovered" Le Cava de Tequila in Mexican pavilion! I was like a kid in Goofy's Candy Kitchen!!! I really enjoyed my avocado drink & was pleased as pleased can be! I always get a Grand Marnier Slushie. I look forward to my upcoming trip and plan to add a stop at the Dawa Bar. My DD will be 21 this trip, that will be interesting.... So, I agree with the other Dis'ers who enjoy a good drink or two!!!! Enjoy ;-)

Drinking alcohol and marching around the parks all day in the hot sun? No way for me. Back at the resort at the end of the day...well now that's another story.:earsboy:

Definitely count me in! I like having a couple of drinks per day at WDW. I have to be careful because alcohol tends to make me reeeeally sleepy. My ex-bf and I used to pick up a couple of bottles of nice Champagne for every trip and that would be our starter cocktail each evening during our break from the parks!

By the way, I wish everyone on this thread could get together for a WDW party (say, at the Rose & Crown!) ... You all sound like fun people!! :)

When DS turned 21 it changed our Disney trips. It was nice to share grown up stuff with him. I think it helped us become more like friends. Not the drinking exactly just that we were both adults now.:lovestruc We love to sit at a pool bar and play cards or other board games after the parks.
