A prior post on 'attractions and strategies' got me thinking. Someone wrote about how they had saved 1K for savings for extras like booze and souveniers. Others chimed in about how they carry their alcohol to the hotel, where they get their liquor etc etc. Then people chimed in about how 'their husband needs at least 4 beers per day at the parks to survive' or something of that nature and how they pack CASES of beer to put in their rooms.

My dad has gone to DW with us several times and needs a beer at the end of the day. I say 'needs' in quotes :) he says he's earned a beer for standiing in line all day :)

I can't imagine my dad drinking though all day in the parks. I also can't imagine my husband going on a family vacation and drinking 4 or 5 beers per day while in the parks. While that's not enough to be 'wasted' to me- it's a family trip- OUR family trip....a beer with dinner is fine but drinking a beer every 2 hours is a bit much. We've been known to order a bottle of wine and split it amongst a table of 4 but that's about it. Maybe I'm just a prude. Disney just isn't a place to 'drink' for us.

Does your family drink more than a drink or 2 per day while in DW?

I often have more than 2 drinks a day at Disney. Especially at Epcot where there are so many drinks to try! I enjoy the fact that I don't have to worry about drinking and driving thanks to the buses, so it's sort of freeing for me to be able to drink with my husband when neither of us has to worry about being designated driver.

Do I NEED it? No. Do I ENJOY it? Yes. (I don't have kids, if that matters.)

Yep. Drinking is part of the fun. I'm not saying get fall down sloppy, but it's a vacation!!

I probably have 4-5 per day as well, so I guess I'm within the "norm." They must have is the "Bumble Bee" at the Rose and Crown. ;)

Definitely - especially if we're visiting Epcot (helloooooo Grand Marnier slushies!)

We stay DVC, so usually have a full kitchen at our disposal. along with our grocery order we'll get a case or so of beer, some wine, etc. If we have a blender my DH will make frozens - virgin ones for the kids and adult ones for us!

To each his own - as long as everyone's responsible....

Ohhhhh.....where are the Grand Marnier slushies at??!??:lovestruc

Yep, me too.

As long as someone isn't drunk and making others uncomfortable, why would anyone else care? :confused3

Hey, Disney's the one who invented "Drinking Around the World", didn't they?
But seriously, it's a VACATION. While we do not drink during the day, in the parks, while seeing the attractions, we like to take a late afternoon "swim and liquid refreshment" back at our hotel room (think Sunken Treasure at the YC). We also take a travel bottle of something or other to mix while getting ready for dinner. Then there's wine at dinner. So, yeah, I guess we are the norm if you add up to about 5 drinks in the late afternoon/evening.
That's hardly getting sloshed, and we're not driving!

Grand Marnier and Grey Goose Slushies are located at the France kiosk.

Only park that doesn't sell alcohol is MK. So you are good to go for the days you aren't there. If you are staying on site, the gift shops/grocer will have beer and wine as well as some hard liquor.

I love drinking around the world at Epcot.

Be there in 12 days and then again for Food and Wine in October.

My opinion? As long as you are 21 or older, don't overindulge and don't drive, have at it if you want to take in some alcoholic beverages. There are some good drinks in the parks.

I'm going to have to try that next time I'm down at Epcot.

Yes, we have more than 2 drinks per day.

My DVC villa necessity is a large bottle of Grey Goose.

4-5 beers in a few hours, you may get drunk.

4-5 spread out over a full day, you will barely be affected by the alcohol, because the alcohol is leaving your system as well as entering it.

I can "drink" all day long and not get drunk, yet i can get drunk in a hour.

We go in August so having too much would make me extremely I'll in the heat. Usually I'll just have something with dinner. This trip I'd like to try a few more of the drinks at Epcot. We'll be there for a few times so I can spread them out.

I never have more than 1-2 drinks a day at Disney, but that's the way I am everywhere. My DH can have more because he can metabolize it much better- it doesn't affect him the way it does me. So he can have 3, 4, even 5 drinks during the day (not all at once- spread out!) and be no worse for wear by the end of the day.
That being said, that may be only 1 or 2 days of our vacation total...normally neither of us have more than 1-2 drinks in a day, if any.

To each their own. I doubt anyone who takes their kids to Disney is going to be falling down drunk by the end of the night...although the rare person can create a bad image for anyone drinking anything.

We're with the majority so far on the thread. We love to have a couple drinks around the world and one or two around the pool. Oh, and of course a glass of wine at dinner. I guess we are in the 5 average a day at WDW too. Since that is over an 8+ hour timeframe, we are in no way sloppy drunk. It is about the only time during the year that we can do this because we don't have to drive. Love those slushies in France! Yum!

I like a couple as well. Only at Epcot and maybe two dinners. I have never gotten drunk there but maybe will during the F&W festival! Lol.

The problem is when you have to leave MK in the middle of the day and go to a hotel and drink.

The drinking teams that go around for the F&W Festival are funny though!!

While I do not think we have ever had an adult beverage AT the parks - we have definitely indulged afterwards and on resort days (can we say poolside and lazy river avec cocktails). I can remember a few times when we filled up an extra refrigerator with just adult beverages!!!

And definitely wine at dinner! Disney has some of the best pairings.

However, reading these posts I just might add park drinking to our itinerary on our next trip!! Those slushies sound oh-so-delish! And drinking around the world is definitely on my bucket list. :goodvibes

I agree totally!!!
Add us (all adults) to the majority. It is Disney, It is vacation, It is special!!!, we don't have to drive. We are responsible, We do not get drunk, we do not need to leave the MK for a drink, but we enjoy a beer or glass of wine at WDW. We do not bother anyone else and we enjoy ourselves.
OP, to me - your posts sounded very judgemental.
