No problem here at all. I feel he was very consistant in in this idea of no alcohol in the MK.........I just cannot beleive he would have changed his mind.
As to the slippery slope, I do have proof, EPCOT opened with only alcohol in the table restuarents.....now it in carts...........ever been to the F and W during a weekend?....... it slowly becoming a throw back to the dirty parks you mentioned.MK.........I just cannot beleive he would have changed his mind.
As to the other parks I dont think Walt would have been againist it.........he enjoyed his scotch mists every night in the office! The other parks are not the MK though!
As to pompous; I never mentioned my knowledge of the man until I was mocked and attacked and told I cannot say that!

So what's next- champagne at CRT? Chianti at Tony's? Bud Light at the Plaza?
Honey mead at Crystal Palace? I am NOT pleased with this turn of events at all.![]()
flicx said:I really think they will look at the number from the alcohol sold during that time frame and say WOW! We got a chance to really increase the revenue for the park
I can't wait to drag my kids in by their leashes to start this all night chug-fest....I wonder if I can take my resort refillable mug and use it for refills on all this beer and wine I plan on guzzling.
I plan to get good and tanked and then head on over to the Haunted Mansion to do a little flash photography...then maybe after it's all said and done and I'm still good and lit...I'll do a little late night resort pool hopping...with my refillable mug in hand of course....yay freeeeeeee soda!
Now if only they would make Disney World Adults Only...then we'd be in business!
I think I'll send an email suggesting that.
Since the thread about the blog post was closed I thought I'd put this here. I never did get to post in there that I felt the blog post title itself was frankly saddening to me since it was the only one I've seen that was more opinion that fact, imhoAnywho...

But your welcome to you opinion and I am welcome to mine without having you attack my comment as dramatic.

Skipper, not to troll or anything, but can you tell me where the interview or document or whatever it is that you're basing this on can be found? I'm really interested to know. The only things I've been able to find are references to keeping the "rowdies" of the time out of DL. Fine wines and an imported beer would hardly be the drinks of these rowdies.
We do live in a very different society, than what existed in 1955 or 1971. This is our "great big, beautiful tomorrow." Smoking in other than designated areas has been out since at least 2007. There have been innumerable changes to DL and WDW since Walt's death. Should everything have stopped to keep it as Walt envisioned it at the moment of his death? I think that would most certainly go against a couple of his most well-known public statements:
"It's something that will never be finished. Something that I can keep developing...and adding to."
"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."
This is development and addition, nothing more. If anything, I would say that it fulfills another of Walt's quotes:
"We believed in our idea - a family park where parents and children could have fun-together."
Mainly, I really hope that this one change will not change your experience of the Magic Kingdom to a negative one. I can tell from the sheer number of posts of yours I've read that you obviously feel very strongly about this. Please don't let one thing turn so much joy so sour for you.
Count me in! I'll bring some expired FP's, the matching T-shirts, and Brazilian flag![]()
I played Pop Warner football. Can I come too? And I'll bring my four year-old, who, I swear, looks like he's two.
Hell NO!......Disney is in my blood!....I am sad to see the way somethings have changed and happy to see some new things. I feel Walt would be amazed and thrilled at the use of the new techno stuff..he lived to use anything new.
AS to the alcohol.........my belief is that he would still want the MK's alcohol free..........and I still belief in his reasons why!
As I noted above my proof is how Epcot is slowly getting more and more drunks (and I dont mean folks enjoying a few drinks).I mean drunks peeing in bushs, falling over a strollers, both I have seen at Fand W and many other posters have as well.
I respect your points on times have changed and can, but I feel this issue isn't one that should be changed with time.

And if it did happen, then what? How about secret answer number 4: None of that. You're suffering from the slippery slope fallacy and doing so is promoting sensationalism. A does not automatically lead to Z.

Seriously, there are several things about Disney that Walt probably would not want i.e. $35 less than mediocre steaks, cast members who steal tourists iPhones, Justin Bieber. I myself prefer wine over those four things and I'm sure Walt would too.
Oh good lord. The theatrics...
People are acting like this was a decision made in a vacuum. Disney doesn't make a move without research and evaluation. They obviously found that there a market for alcohol at one restaurant in the MK.
Email all you want, but it's not going away. Of course there will be some backlash, and certainly Disney expected it. Of course most emails about this issue are against it; the people perfectly happy with it see no reason to shoot off congratulatory messages to the company.

This argument always makes me laugh. I have been to EPCOT more times then I can count, both during food and wine and not. I have never seen anyone out of control drunk, peeing in bushes, throwing up or stumbling around. Have I seen people drunk. Guess so. Usually I just see people having fun. Nobody out of control or over the top. Sometimes I think people see more then there is when they are heavily opposed to things.
