Alcohol at Be Our Guest

I'm sure Disney was prepared for some complaints. No way does this get changed. People will complain for a week or two and quit. Might as well not waste your time. They did surveys on this and they know the vast majority of people are in favor.

Was so shocked to see that Be Our Guest is gonna offer Beer and Wine! That is so awesome finally a great place to eat and get a drink in the MK!

Why the hell would you want to stop this!!! I think its great!! It's about time I hope they add more drinks to other locations!! Finally alcohol in the MK! Don't know why you would be against it?

How many people against this *need* their morning coffee? Isn't caffeine a mind altering substance to some degree?

Yes you are correct...caffeine is a drug.....of which I must have wayyyy more than wine or beer which makes me way more wacky than is probably good! I think on that note and all this talk of wine I shall go have a glass of Red Moscatto :)

I not trying to offend but aren't there bigger issues in the world you can take a stand against other than this. :confused3

U think? My thoughts exactly!

You are correct. They DID do surveys and they knew before agreeing to do this there would be backlash. If they have issues with it they can always get rid of the alcohol later, so I don't know why people are acting crazy

Yay!!!! Finally you can have a nice dinner with a glass of wine. I suspect Walt would approve for 2012. He would think that at the price of the drinks no one will be misbehaving because of that. (I'm just guessing). There are nice restaurants with characters, for kids of all ages and now a restaurant for adults (and their kids).:thumbsup2

Just one person's opinion but we are very happy they will be serving wine and beer! I can't imagine French food without it. I do not drink more than 1 or 2 times per month and have one or two glasses of wine at most. When I am WDW part of the experience for us is a nice adult beverage once or twice a day. Not enough to be impaired in any way. I don't see what the big deal is, at one time your could smoke all over the park, I for one thought getting rid of that was a good thing. Not all change is bad.

It's not the idea that people will walk around MK drunk or that people drink.
I'm sure plenty of people have drinks with dinner at the resorts and go to MK.
Gee a glass of wine wouldn't go good with a meal at Tony's ?

It's the idea of a long term policy changing just so they can make a few more bucks. i have seen plenty of change at MK over the past 26 years of going to the parks and belonging to DVC. Some for the better and some for the worse.
i am still going to go to WDW 3 times a year.

But would it be real terrible to keep one parks policies as it was originally intended ?

Even gladder I scored my ressie for nov 19th.

I'm all for it. I thought the idea of a "signature" restaurant, advertised as "fine dining" without wine was ludicrous. I was willing to try the counter service lunch, but until today, I had no plans to visit for dinner. No, I am not an alcoholic. No, I do not drink every day. But in my world, good food and good wine go hand in hand.

I completely agree.. a fine wine is certainly a compliment to good food. :thumbsup2

Actually we do, all his wrtten and vidoe comments on why he wanted the MG dry..........read a little about the man please..AKK

Please learn to spell.

Are you also outraged and appalled that someone who was an icon to children everywhere would smoke like a smokestack and, when smoking has been banned almost everywhere Disney still has smoking areas?

If you have kids, I bet you have NO idea what they're exposed to in the real and video game world.

I don't understand what the big deal is. So you can have a drink during dinner. One drink doesn't make an obnoxious drunk. It's not like they are going to allow you to bring the glass of wine outside the restaurant while you are waiting for Peter Pan or something.

It is a totally different experience than Epcot that has people carrying around drinks with them. I also don't know where people see all these obnoxious drunks in Epcot. In the 50+ times I have been to Disney I have never observed anyone being an obnoxious drunk. Maybe I am too busy having fun. I don't know. :confused3

To not overtake the entire Restaurant board with this big news, we combined he four threads about this into one discussion.

:thumbsup2

Now I am *really* bummed that BOG won't be open yet when we go in October.

To those that feel a French restaurant in MK should not serve alcohol because it's not what Walt would have wanted, your best option is to not eat at the restaurant.

As of 2 weeks ago, I made our final 7-day plan & ADR's for February but in light of today's events (I'm not referring to the REAL world in which WWIII is eminent) I re-worked our schedule/reservations to include 2 visits to BOG. I had no intention what-so-ever of going to the new FantasyLand (we have no interests there) but I will do so now, in order to have a bite to eat & a couple of those dark, evil, loathsome, irrational, sadistic, vile, gluttonous, obscene glasses of wine.:rotfl2:

I am so excited that Be Our Guest will be serving alcohol! Don't know why everyone is in such a Tizzy! Can't imagine amazing food like that without it! What r you gonna have compliment it lemonade lol! Great idea Disney I hope they add alcohol to more MK restaurants!

Here is the article from Disney Blogs in case you haven't seen it.
IMO the menu is enhanced by the adding of wine and beer. I wouldn't go to a French restaurant and not expect to see wine on the menu.

When it opens at Magic Kingdom Park on November 19, Be Our Guest Restaurant will magically drop guests into the world of Belle and the Beast with a whole new level of theming for a Disney restaurant. “More than ever, we’re using storytelling and creativity as we develop our menus,” says Maribeth Bisienere, vice president of Food & Beverage and Merchandise for The Walt Disney Company. “We’re continually creating magical experiences, and Be Our Guest Restaurant at New Fantasyland is the next step in the evolution.”

The storytelling starts with Walt Disney Imagineering, but it’s not long before the Food & Beverage team starts creating a menu to match the theatrics. This time, it’s all about the mysterious new Magic Kingdom Park castle that’s home to Beast from “Beauty and the Beast,” with a majestic Ballroom with 20-foot-tall ceilings, elegant chandeliers and a wall of 18-foot-tall windows that overlook the French countryside where a light snow is falling; the Rose Gallery, with a large music box centerpiece that’s almost 7 feet tall, with Belle and the Beast slowly twirling atop; and the forbidden, dramatic West Wing, with the warm glow of the Beast’s enchanted rose.

A team of Disney chefs, including longtime Disney Chef Roland Muller, a native of Alsace, France, has spent more than three years developing the French-inspired menu, creating both a quick-service menu for lunch and a more elegant table-service menu for dinner.

Storytelling Through Dining at Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland

“Our role is to finish the story,” says Walt Disney World Executive Chef Lenny DeGeorge. And while the quick-service lunch is more of a French bistro, dinner is a more elegant affair with dishes themed to the film: a whole roasted hen, a pork rack chop, pan-seared salmon with leek fondue and saffron potatoes. Gourmet cupcakes and mousse-filled cream puffs are finished tableside.

And just for dinner, select wines and beers will be offered that complement the French-inspired cuisine.

“As part of the overall theming, we wanted to offer wine that enhances the guest experience and complements the French-inspired cuisine,” says Stuart McGuire, Beverage Director, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The wines focus primarily on France’s famous wine-growing regions, including Champagne, Alsace, Loire, Rhone, Burgundy and Bordeaux.

“We’ll also offer the leading French beer, Kronenbourg 1664,” says McGuire. “And, staying in the general region, we’ll also offer Belgian beers.”

Servers complete the picture, dressed in a style inspired by European fashions from the 1400s to the 1600s: a royal purple embroidered doublet, or vest, over a shirt with knickers that reach just below the knee. For evening service, a jabot or ruffle, buttoned at the throat, is added.

“From the moment they cross the bridge into the castle, it’s all about immersing our guests in the dining experience,” says Bisienere. “Every detail is part of the story.”
