Well, lucky then that most of us use our self control and sip our drinks.
You've stated what you think of people who like to drink. I find your opinion pretty harsh and warped. If I might be so bold...

I find it sad how people are so obsessed with those who drink alcohol to the point where they can't recognize that drinking alcohol with a meal is something most people do, in most places in the world. I think it's sad that adults can't exercise personal self control and refrain from passing judgment on others during the short period of time they are in Magic Kingdom. If you need to judge people and not enjoy the magic then you're probably taking the wrong type of vacation.

Yes, I am fairly certain I have never guzzled my wine with dinner.

Seriously??

I am shocked to hear that alcoholic beverages will be served at MK. I never thought that would happen. We tend to enjoy some beer and mixed drinks at the resorts and other parks and might even eat at BOG and partake there. To me this is a pleasant surprise.

I can't imagine it will change the atmosphere of the park at all. I don't think the teetotalers have anything to worry about. Alcohol is served at AK and DHS everywhere and I have never read reports of falling down obnoxious drunks at those parks.

As for what Walt wanted, i think that he was trying to avoid that carnivalesque atmosphere of dirty grounds, ugly surroundings, etc. We have to remember at that time there were very few amusement parks and they were nothing like today's parks. This led to his demands of super clean parks, theming, cast members who had strict rules on appearance and behavior, and no alcohol.

People in charge of WDW understand that the alcohol sales in the other parks don't impact guest enjoyment and increase the bottom line and it isn't going to turn Fantasyland into a carnival either.

walts not looking down crying. His head is frozen in cryofreeze somewhere, therefore he has no eyes to look down with, and from what others report he was not the most religious person even though he was brought up in a religious family, so for all we know, he didn't believe in heaven. As for raising hell, I pretty certain walt would cry (if he had eyes) over that.

WDW added beer and wine options to the Be Our Guest Menu. I think that's a nice addition to what looks to be a lovely menu. If you'd like a glass of wine, enjoy. If you would prefer something else, you can certainly select milk, soda or water. Order what works for you, and don't worry about what others might choose to order. :goodvibes

And hmmm....aren't they popping open nice bottles of wine everyday at Club 33 onsite at Disneyland??? ;)

what cracks me up is that alcohol is served at every other park, at every hotel and every restaurant, yet those that are so offended by this whole thing seem to have no problem saying or visiting any of those places.

People just like something to get offended over. If it's that offensive, stay home. Unlikely that this will happen.

If you look into some Walt history you would know that he enjoyed cocktails with regularity. I seriously doubt he would cry over a guest buying a $9 beer at BOG.

And if liquor snuffed out magic there would be none found at any other spot inWDW. I happen to think there is a lot of magic in World Showcase at night!

YES! Please boycott the place...then maybe those of us who enjoy a nice glass of wine with a meal will be able to get an ADR.

How many people against this *need* their morning coffee? Isn't caffeine a mind altering substance to some degree?

are you going to boycott all the other disney parks until they stop serving alcohol?

I thought not.

I'm all for it. I thought the idea of a "signature" restaurant, advertised as "fine dining" without wine was ludicrous. I was willing to try the counter service lunch, but until today, I had no plans to visit for dinner. No, I am not an alcoholic. No, I do not drink every day. But in my world, good food and good wine go hand in hand.

I not trying to offend but aren't there bigger issues in the world you can take a stand against other than this. :confused3

Well I am happy about it, but I guess a bunch of folks are flooding disney with complaints. So I sent an email thanking them for having alcohol for this restaurant. I am sure some thought when into this before making the final decision and people need to stop panicing. Who knows what Walt would have wanted?? Things have changed in the last 40 years and we can't hold someone to what they said 40 yrs ago! If he was alive he could have changed his mind! Politicians change their minds right after they get into office yet people here want to hold someone's words into their death despite times changing. LOL

I just got a response and they said - and I quote - "there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to this decision."
