This weekend's Dallas Tom Thumb flier has a buy $50, get $10 deal... One $10 coupon per transaction, expires in one week, so just do multiple transactions.

what is catalina? is it like a store credit?
I want to make sure I understand. If I buy a $100 gift card like disney, I can get $20 in store credit expire in 1 week? thanks

Catalinas are the coupons that print out out the register. They come from a different printer than your receipt. Sometimes they are manufacturer's coupons that are only good at that store, these are usually based on your puchasing habits. Other times they can be coupons that are triggered when your buy certain combinations or dollar quanties from a family of products. Those Catalinas are often good for $X off your next order (OYNO). Couponers love those kinds of "cats" because they can be used to purchase your produce and meat, which rarely have coupons.

For people hoping to double-up with the Discover 5% bonus at grocery stores, please be aware that this is only for up to $200 in purchases. $10 is still better than a stick in the eye but not worth doing if you carry a balance on the card (which of course I don't, but anyhow).

Looks like it's possible but I haven't tried it.

Question: Does anyone know if you have to buy $100 in one gift card or can you buy, say 2 different $50 gift cards?

I'm not going to Disney anytime soon, but I could use a few lower value gift cards like Dunkin Donuts.

I bought a $200 Disney GC at Acme this weekend and I got (2) $20 catalinas which expire in a week's time. I plan to go back the end of this week and buy another GC (so that I spread out the catalinas.) The catalinas did express "Limit one coupon per transaction per day."

Someone posed this same question on another board and there has been no one who posted saying they have tried it. I will probably buy $400 to top off my disney rewards to purchase the dining plan. I'm going to call DVC first and ask if I can use rewards plus multiple gift cards before I buy them.

I'm in the fortunate position of having not yet paid my final balance, so I'm loading up on gift cards to pay off the trip at a 20% discount. I am beyond excited. I thought free dining was a great deal, but this is the icing on the cake!

A quick heads up if you're paying via credit card... between buying Arco cards and DL AP vouchers with this deal, the multiple large grocery purchases triggered a fraud alert on our CC. A couple of folks on another board have posted that the same thing happened to them. Of course a phone call clears it up, just something to be aware of, especially for those who may be making multiple purchases.

I believe November was the last time they ran this deal. I don't think it's offered all that frequently.

Of course, I had a hard time believing her, because when I handed her the one to redeem on Sunday, she said she had never seen those before!!

I had purchased $250 on one Disney card, $25 Dunkin & $25 Penny's on Friday & got 3 of the Catalina's, but was only buying a few things on Sun for the kids to take to school, so only used one coupon on Sunday.

Don't know if they can be posted here, but are there other good coupon sites to follow? I see some mentioning things they read on a coupon board, but haven't had any luck finding anything good when I did a search.

I had trouble redeeming yesterday. I thought that it was because my bill came to $20.54 before scanning the coupon. Someone from customer service had to come over and force it thru. But she also questioned me as to where I got it.

Hello...it says Acme right on it! You would think that by Monday (4 days into the promotion) they would have already seen a couple of these!

I haven't attempted to do more than one Catalina in a single transaction. I literally go right by my Acme in my daily travels so it's not a big deal to run in there to get things from my list.

I following livingrichwithcoupons.com for the grocery store deals. She's from the northern New Jersey area so her focus is on those stores. She lists other stores in her coupon match ups but often links to other blogs for stores outside of her area like Acme or Giant (two stores that I shop at). I follow her on Facebook as well since she is right on top of new printable coupons as soon as they come out and it's easier to get the really good ones before they reach their print limit if you follow someone who updates their blog posts and FB page frequently.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the OP! We woke up Thursday morning to no hot water - need our water heater replaced. Fortunately, my dad knows how to replace them, so no labor expense, but this deal really came in handy! I purchased $400 in HD gift cards, got $80 in cats, used a 10% off Lowe's q at HD, and got a $530 water heater (50 gal, 12 yr warranty, self cleaning) for technically less than $400!

Also, Lane Bryant and Bath & Body Works are having their semi-annual sales, so the other night I stopped by Acme before hitting the mall and got $20 worth of free groceries to buy things on sale that I was buying anyway! Wohoo! I wish this deal was all the time....

And, I have more to go, because I still have to pay off my Disney trip by the end of this month, so watch out ACME, I will be back for more!

In NJ, Stop & Shop gives out $15 Catalina Coupons for a $50 gift card! I have been buying them like crazy. Ours expire July 8th.

I am one who has bought loads of these gift cards. Like a few others, I have been mostly buying the Disney $50 gift cards. I owe about $600 when I check in to my resort in October, so I will just pay using the gift cards vs using my credit card. Used my Disney CC to buy the GC, so I will get Disney rewards points. (I do not carry a balance on the CC). Last night a cashier let me roll the coupons and only pay $35, using prior coupons. I did not read the small print, I thought it was allowed. ooops. HE suggested I do it, I did not ask to. And it says you can redeem the $15 coupons, one per "transaction", which to me means you can split a grocery order into 3, and use 3 coupons? The cashier today, in another store, told me the register would only allow using one per DAY per S/S loyalty card. I said, not true yesterday, because I rolled about 4 in a row (in violation of the rule, that I was unaware of). She recommended other family members getting their own cards, if I did not have another S/S card to use on the same day. ??? I can and will do that, if I have to....... I have been buying them because I think they will run out of many GC soon, possibly, and also they might pull this offer. The gift card rack is wiped out!

I have been told at 2 different albertsons that you can use only one $20 catalina per order. However, both cashiers said you could just do multiple transactions so I could use more than one $20 catalina per day.

I did use 2 of the $20 catalinas and she broke them into 2 orders. So, when you shop I would put your items in groups of about $20 each. In california, no dairy is allowed and the computer knows it. I was 50 cents short due to the ice cream I bought but the cashier pushed it through for me. I forgot that in December, the last time they did this, I was short due to buying butter so I had to buy something extra so wanted to point this out if it helps.

Albertson's owes Shaw's and I bought $200 in Disney today and got $40 to use at Shaw's. I am going to buy another $200 tomorrow before it expires and get another $40 - we are having lobsters for dad's day too - all on Shaws. I wish I heard about his sooner, because you can do this for up to $500 per rewards card. My husband has one too, but we only have so much cash on hand this week. This is a great deal!
