Doesn't DVC offer some sort of Alaskan Cruise in their member getaways? Has anyone done this and know the approximate points needed and where I can get more info?

I tried to do a search, but it said it was disabled.

Thanks

DVC does offer an Alaskan Cruise option with Holland America. I'm not sure the amount of points. I know it was plenty! We are doing an Alaskan cruise this August. We decided it made more sense for us to rent our points and use the cash for the cruise.

I think it's 225 points per person for the first 2. That's for an outside cabin but does not include port taxes. It was previously much higher, came down to 200 and then went back up this year somewhat.

The points needed for the Holland America Alaska cruise (according to the new member guidebook) is 211 points for the 1st and 2nd adult and 70 points for each additional adult guest and 40 points each for children 2 - 18. We did this cruise last August and it was a vacation of a lifetime. We actually did the northbound route because you see more of Alaska (we were on the Rynndam). It was a truly awesome trip. The trip through the glaciers was well worth the points that we spent on the cruise. We choose to use our points to vacation the way that we want even though some would say that this is a waste of our points, to us it wasn't. We saw bears, whales, moose, etc. and had a ball. I actually found that cruising to Alaska used less points than when we go on the 7 day Disney cruise in the summer. Use your points however you see fit! We also booked the train ride into Denali and spent several days in Anchorage and Fairbanks.
Just an FYI--we took our DD12 with us and while she did have fun and met a lot of new friends that she still e-mails, she would be the first to tell you that it is not as much fun as the disney cruise! The Alaska cruise tends to cater to an older cruising age. You won't regret this trip. E-mail me if you need any additional information.:jester: :jester:

Sarah'sMomfrom PA, thanks for correcting my lapse of memory. It was 302 per person and 115 for 3/4 in 1999, 275/140 in 2000, 225/100 in 2001 and 200/70 in 2002. The 302/115 was the original outside cabin option but there once was an inside cabin option for 283 points i believe. Previously was offered Carnival for AK and Caribbean along with Holand American for AK and Caribbean including 10 day option.

Dean,

We actually went in August 2001 and you're right--it was 225 pts for 1st and 2nd passenger and about 3 months before we were scheduled to leave, DVC called us and told us that the pts for my daughter (who was 11 at the time) was dropping to 55 pts and for some reason, I remember using 40 points to upgrade the cabin for an outside cabin anyway, the total points were 545 that we used!! I noticed in the latest member guidebook that there are no Holland America cruises to Caribbean listed--we used to have that option--guess they want you to only cruise Disney (and you won't hear any complaints from me because I am addicted to Disney--my whole desk is covered with the characters and my boss feels like he works in the WDW annex!!) Have a great day!
