I would mainly agree with this, but I'll dissent a little bit... We went on Princess and loved it. That said, Princess, like other non-DCL lines, is VERY dependent on which ship you are on.If this will be a once in a lifetime thing, I do think Disney is worth it, but if you think you will do Alaska more than once, it could be worth rolling the dice to see if a cheaper cruise is a good fit. We booked Princess to save money in Alaska, hated it, and now are planning to go back to Alaska on a Disney cruise because we want a "do-over", so we're going to be paying disney prices on top of all the money we wasted on the cruise from hell. Haven't been on NCL personally but I've heard a lot of people say the same thing. Lesson I learned is you get what you pay for.
I would say that the big plus of DCL is that it is one of two lines (the other being Virgin) that I don't think it really matters which ship you are on, they are all excellent. Also, the biggest plus of DCL, that I am surprised that more people don't talk about, is that it is R/T Vancouver, which means that unlike ships that travel out of Seattle, it will do a full inside passage. That first day cruising between the British Columbia coast and Vancouver Island is amazing. It's like your cruising down a river...
