Alaskan Cruise - Is a Veranda worth the money?

There is no way I would do an Alaska cruise and NOT have a veranda; even in September. We were out on ours all the time, but we did cruised over the Fourth of July week. Just pack accordingly for cool/colder and damp/wet weather. Just my opinion!!! The day we sailed to the glacier it was cool with light rain, we just dressed for it and went out to the front of the ship where the passengers are not normally allowed to see it better (this was a Celebrity cruise).

The reason why I asked was for temperature.... keep in mind September is Alaska's storm season. Prices are discounted for this.
Thanks for the heads up. We're looking at 2019 (WDW in 2017, 7 Day Eastern Caribbean on Fantasy in 2018), so I have plenty of time to plan. :)

Hi,

We normally book a veranda stateroom. However, I am concerned that the cold weather on an Alaskan cruise will keep us from really getting full value from it, and that we might be better off with an Ocean View or even an Inside stateroom and use the extra money for excursions.

Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks!
IMHO, a veranda is not worth the money. We were perfectly happy with our OV rooms on our Alaska cruise. There is plenty of room outside on the decks for sightseeing.

We have done 2 Alaska cruises and both times just had an inside stateroom. We were fully able to take in all of the views from the outside open decks so we put the money towards the excursions. We are going to Alaska again in July and have an inside stateroom again. But, I guess it depends how much time you spend in the room. We are the type of people who just use the room to sleep and get dressed in. We like to enjoy all the activities onboard and all the ports, so we don't spend that much time in the room.

Not DCL but we cruised with friends who got a balcony, and we got a window. It was nice, but we spent most of our time out on the decks watching everything on all sides of the ship. But we hit a heatwave....we were in Juneau on June 16, 2013......it was 85 that day!
