Alaska WOW June 14th

Looking forward to hearing more

Can't wait to set sail in a week to Alaska, I will be following along with your trip report till then. I noticed a picture of you having cheese, crackers and wine on your verandah...what room were you in?? You look SO close to the water.

Hope you don't mind me adding a few things. We just got off the Wonder yesterday.

We also took the train from Vancover. It was magnificent easy & quite scentic. They had plugs for electrontics & free Wi for computers. The bathrooms were quite clean. There is a snack bar. Customs was a breeze.
Once we arrived at Vancover they provided luggage carrier karts. There are plenty of taxi's waiting. They charged $8.00 to hotel.

In Vancover we were booked in the Fairmount but someone recommended Blue Horizon Hotel 1225 Robson Street. It was much cheaper. We had a huge.......room with a balcony & indoor pool. It was a 4 star plus hotel. We had one room for the 4 of us, for under 200.00 in the heart of Vancover. Great shopping resturant area close to the port.

Instead of taking a cab to the port we hired Nick (tour guide) who drives a black stretch limo. $75.00 per hour He pick us up at our hotel, (with our luggage) and gave us a hour tour around Vancover. He was wonderful. We looked very important in the stretch limo this impress my teen. He dropped us off in front of the Wonder at the port. :thumbsup2

My family did the Disney Exculusive Glacier Dog Musher tour. It was a 10
My table mates also did the helicoper to the glaciers all raved about the tours.

I did the Best of Juneau.(whale watching tour) saw many eagles I would rate it a 10

We were not happy with Best of Ketchikan Land & Sea.

My husband & I spend alot of time in Secret Deck 7 Veranda whale watching. We saw many!!!

Any questions?

This is very helpful as we prepare to leave next week. I especially like the tips about taxis and the limo.

Anything about the weather and clothing to pack would also be helpful as we start that process. :laundy: Also is there anything onboard that we should be aware of?

I hope you will start your own trip report! :worship:

We really had great weather meaning no rain. & sun. Some days were cold. We dressed in layers. When we were in Ketchican, in the middle of our tour, it warmed up and took off some of the layers of clothing. I didn't bring my sneakers I packed hiking boots. I wish I would have left the boots home & packed my comfy sneakers.
On my whale watching tour, I wore my wool hat with my hood up and gloves. It get's very cold on the water.

We did do Laundry at least 3 times I did it right after the the Walt DT 8:30 show was let out, it seemed to be a slow time on deck 2 laundry area. I did bring my own soap and dryer sheets. Cost 2.00 for washer & 2.00 for dryer.
By time my wash was up, all the machines were in usage. Try to get there as soon as the show let's out.

We were at secret deck 7 in Tracy A & we were able to see on both sides of the deck. We started off at deck 9 with the guide, but really enjoyed 7 more.
Try it, you can always leave.

When your on your bus, on the way to your tour, keep your eyes up in the top of the trees, I promise you, you will see egales. Have your camera ready.

In Ketchican right outside the port the shops had great prices on Alaska shirts & souverniers

Will you be in Seattle?

You can har the captain over the TV in the room and the also have a Naturalist on board that narrates. We started on deck 10 but it quickly got very crowded, we should have just stayed in our stateroom.

I'm thinking we will do the same...with wine and cheese plate of course!!! Love it! Thanks so much for the trip report, can't wait for more.

On Tracy A day my husband & I were eating Palo brunch 10:30 am. While dining we saw so......many whales about 5 or six Every time someone saw a whale they would say, "whale" then everyone would get up to there palo window and take photos. It was alot of fun As we were finishing brunch we we entered Tracy A.

It was truly magical!!!
