Hi Robin,
Its Laura AKA eeyorelvr10 Looks like I will miss you again this year. I ended up cancelling this one because my friend and son got together and we ended up doing the inaugural cruise.
I can answer that question in regards to money if you want. We stayed overnight in a Holiday Express just down from the port and while most shops took American money, they gave change back in Canadian dollar and coin.
Most restaurants take everything as you know but one of the smaller shops would not take American We found a subway that would take paper money but not American coin. And of course they gave back Canadian coin. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience at all except for when we went to Red Robin and ordered cheese curls on our fries. Um, a bit different than what we expected
but a "good" experience.
I'm sorry I'll be missing you again but someday we will sail together. LOL If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I ended up dropping off that other site for this cruise and posted there but forgot to post here that I wasn't
on here anymore. At the time we went, many stores were in the process
opening and some of the excursions like the flora and fauna ones weren't all that because we were told the best times to see them was late June and July so you'll all have the best of the best.
I did Alaska on another line way back in 2000 and that was late July but it was the most amazing experience. For those that don't have a balcony, you won't need one. We had one and spent most of our time at deck 10 in the Outlook Cafe. You can spend lots of wonderful hours up there.
OH! I will tote the AMAZING, AMAZING ziplining experience we did in
Skagway. By far, the best and longest zip in Alaska. They had 11 zip lines
and the 3rd or 4th was the longest at 750 ft - free zipping for about 40 sec.
If anyone is planning on doing this, please Tell Billy, Ken (from Atlanta) and
his friends said hi! Tell him that Ken was the tall man that "bumped" his way
down on the "1st" true zip line. And were the threesome that inaugurated the
zip line when it opened. LOL we were behind Karl Holz and were the last ones
off the lines. But we had such an amazing experience we are going as a
group in Hawaii we hope.
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line as I don't usually post here anymore

but did because I saw Robin's name on the wall. You
guys are going to have fun! Enjoy it. And yes, you can see the whales from
deck 10. We were lucky to see quite a few grey whales and just a couple of
orcas but they shall be in full bloom for you guys
Have fun!
