Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

I hear Palo is overrated. :lmao:

For me the Palo Brunch is to die for. While I like the atmosphere, Dinner; however, I can take or leave it. Allen on the other had is 1/2 Italian so he really likes the cuisine.

:hug:Maybe we'll just stay in for dinner next anniversary & just order room service.:goodvibes

If we were to "chat" again, is there a particular day of the week that is better for those interested?

Hi All,

Weeknights tend to work better for me since weekends are usually devoted to bye-bye's and photo expeditions. Tuesdays or Wednesdays are probably best but I can make anything work as long as I know ahead of time.

A great big HAPPY ANNIVERSARY:banana::banana::banana: to everyone celebrating their special days. My hubby and I just celebrated our seventh on June 21 and will be celebrating our 8th belatedly on the cruise next year. My DBFF and her hubby will be celebrating their 17th (golly has it been that long :-) a bit ahead of time then as well. We will also be celebrating a birthday during the cruise for Emily my DBFF's niece I think she will be turning 8.

I just did a quick inventory and think I need to make some more of my FE items since I really want to try to get a jump on things. I am pretty sure that if I were to end up with extra items they won't go to waste. Fortunately they are fun to make and I hope they will be fun to receive as well.

As of right now we are still waiting to hear if we will get the house we are hoping to move to. I am keeping my fingers crossed (which does make it hard to type) but am also a little nervous since this home is about $600/mo more than what we currently pay. It will mean that any extras that we want on the cruise will have to come out of my earnings so I better sell quite a few homes between now and then.

I hope everyone has been having a good week and hasn't been getting broiled by the sun!

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

We have never done the Palo dinner, I think we are going to stick to the brunch! I hate thinking about scheduling a dinner and then missing something in the main dining room.

Yeah, I'm not interested in the dinner either. Hmmm....how many days can I do brunch. :rolleyes1

I know a lot of people enjoy the dinner, but I just enjoy the dinners in the dining rooms far too much. Guess I need to figure out which days are at sea and get a brunch ressie made when we can. We did the brunch when we were on our last cruise and it was FANTASTIC, I would do it daily! :rotfl:

Last cruise (2008) we were able to book the private dining room for Brunch. We may try again if our party doesn't get too big. You have to have exactly 12, 13 or 14 people.

Allen & I would definitely be up for the large party of 12-14 Palo Brunch. If someone is making up a list for that please count us in!:goodvibes

Jon and I would too if you are looking for more people.

I'll post that phone number.....right after I fax MY request in. :lmao:

Ok, I'll post it, but I get first pick of days. ;)

Be sure to include all names and reservation numbers.

I'll probably fax my request just before online booking opens. I'm assuming your cruise has to be paid off for them to even consider the request.

We're staying at the Fairmont Pacific Rim. The rate wasn't that great, but it is what I was expecting to pay. I'm still going to keep my eyes open and hope they offer the AAA discount at some point. Just the fact that I know the room is booked makes the trip seem that much closer! Weird, I know, but we're not going anywhere this summer so I'm doing whatever it takes to get the Alaska trip here faster!:goodvibes

Tom i have that same picture but with different people.....hehehe.....same spot that you are standing.....I had to take a second look cause thought it was my picture.
We have not booked anything yet and are still hoping to also to add in Whistler. We want to head up there for about 4 days and 2 days in Vancouver but my son is in Football for the High School and being that it is a Charter school the rules are different than your average High School. They are much more strict. If he is on the team next year than it will be during practice that he would be taking off. In the summer practice is 4 hrs a day (M-F) for a whole month....2 weeks off than they begin again......It is rigorous....but that is one reason Helix's FB team is so great! They also hold the kids accountable and if ya dont get the grades you are kicked off the team. So this is very good for Michael....he needs the discipline, comradery, and something that makes him keep his grades up...for him it's Football but for me well...it is a lot more.

anyway...here's to Whistler :dance3:

Has anyone else been thinking about also heading up to Whistler?????

Date difference from Jul 26, 2010 to Jul 19, 2011
The total number of days between Monday, July 26th, 2010 and Tuesday, July 19th, 2011 is 358 days.
This is equal to exactly 11 months and 23 days.
This does not include the end date, so it's accurate if you're measuring your age in days, or the total days between the start and end date. But if you want the duration of an event that includes both the starting date and the ending date, then it would actually be 359 days.
The total time span from 2010-07-26 to 2011-07-19 is 8,592 hours.
This is equivalent to 515,520 minutes.
You can also convert 358 days to 30,931,200 seconds.

I just gave Fairmont a call to see if they have AAA rates in the system since they are not available online, and they do. Not much of a discount, only 5%, but better than nothing I suppose! They changed my reservation over to the AAA rate and I saved a whole $16 per night! I'll think of it as my "drink of the day money"!:goodvibes

Good luck with the football stuff! My son played HS football and it was never easy planning around his practice schedule. Hope it all works out. A week in Canada before the cruise sounds wonderful!

What about transportation from the Fairmont to the port? Do they offer that or have any suggestions?

Darn, I didn't think to ask when I was on the phone! I'll add that to my list of things to look into next time I call. :)

I know it is close to the port, but probably too far to walk with luggage. Now that I think of it, does anyone know for sure that we will be leaving from Canada Place, and not the farther port?
