ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Here are our plans for now:

At Sea Day - Palo Brunch

Skagway - Yukon Suspension Bridge, City, and White Pass Railway with entire family
- Glacier Discovery by Helicopter (DH and I)

Juneau - Whale Watching private charter with Rum Runner Charters who will drop us at Mendenhall Glacier then we'll take city bus back

Ketchikan - Rain Forest Island Adventure (for now - looking for a more active excursion than just sight-seeing that a 5 year old can do as well. Unfortunately, none of the excursions allow time for Lumberjack show too)

At Sea - Palo Dinner

I would appreciate any feedback from those more in the know if something catches your eye as not being a good choice. Thanks!

I look forward to hearing about your helicopter ride:) We've done them twice once to the Grand Canyon from Vegas and in Kauai
All your excursions sound fun to me:thumbsup2

Wow! I am looking forward to hearing how everyone's excursions went.

I have already decided that I may have to come back on another Disney Alaska Cruise:lmao:

Well it looks like we got what we were shooting for. DW stayed up wayyyyyyyyyyyy past her bedtime:surfweb: Palo dinner day 1 and Palo brunch day3 White pass in Skagway and Lumberjack show. Just the type of vacation we need.:)

Glad you got all you were hoping for!!!

I think it looks like you did your homework. Looks great!! Lots of fun!!

I shoulda thought of that sooner. I thought you could only book one brunch, one tea and one dinner per room? Gonna try later...forgot my reservation number to log in so gotta do it at home.

I assume it's one brunch per person because we were able to do it. We had to adjust the pairings so that each table of 2 had a Castaway Club and a non-Castaway Club member since non-members can't book yet.

I would make only a good half travel agent. I am the only one in the family who is logged in with Disney AND am a Castaway member. So I am gonna have to wait for the non-members to see if I can just add that table for 1 or just do like Paula says and see if i can change it on the ship. Ah well, thanks for the reminder about non member bookings. Will try again then.

You honestly shouldn't have any problem making it 3 once you get on the ship. :goodvibes

Yes, this is correct. If there are only openings for 1 or 2 per table, and only one of the three of you is a CC member, then you will have to wait until the window opens for non-CC members and then book 2 tables. You will have one person at one table and two at the other. Once you are onboard you can change it.

Thanks for the beginning and end time. I was hoping it was earlier since we get in around 8am and we could be at the Glacier by 9. Will need to adjust my schedule a bit. I am hoping for at least 4 hours at the glacier - about 2hr for the visitor center and the lookout there and then 2hr for hike(s) (at least the one to the falls).

I spent an hour in the visitors center last month and it was more than enough time to see and watch everything. That would give you 3 hours for a hike or two!

I was able to book non-castaway club members into Palo for my reservation when I booked Palo's when the time frame opened up for Platinum. Now, my brother and his wife are linked to me for dinner, so that may have been why. My parents are silver and they were linked to me also, so maybe since we were linked that is why I could book all 5 for Palo dinner.

Someone asked if the adult club were packed?

Yes, they were very busy at night until after the adult show finished and then they would clear out. Extremely packed for "If I Were Not Upon the Seas" on the final night at Pub night!

Pub night is always fun! 1st time we saw it was held in Diversions:) Guess I'll head to the bar after changing from dinner.........

Piikea, IF you are the only CC member--how in the heck did you get the Palo ressie for just your Mom & Dad without you being on it. I was able to book the rest of my party because we were linked for dining, but I had to book Alan @ 1 table and me at the other:confused3 Maybe it is because you all are sharing a room :confused3

Hard to believe I am leaving for WDW 2 weeks from Saturday. Still trying to get everything sorted for that. I did get a huge bag of snacky things for the villa packed up--Alan's cousin is driving so they are taking it for us. This is the 1st trip in a long time that we haven't done the dining plan--too many people coming and going out of our villa to make the logistics work for it. It would be so much easier of they all had internet:rolleyes1

Hmmm...Pub night, will have to put that on my calendar to check out. Not a big drinker but am a big watcher and just luv to hang out and drink my coke.

Oh My, Yup! we are sharing a room:eek: and guess who gets the sofa bed:lmao:

Mom isn't logged in with Disney so I am also working on the check in items...we don't have all the flight information yet so of course because it is all one reservaiton I am locked out of getting our boarding time and finishing the check in. Thank goodness we have time to do this and didn't need it done when the ressies were able to be booked.

One of my office mates was just saying that I should be living at WDW/DL since I am already planning my next trip(s) so wishing you a magical time!

Some clothes I ordered for the trip just arrived: an off white silk turtleneck (long underwear) and a fuchsia fleece sweater/hoodie - on clearance at Lands End!

Between those and the long-sleeved black velvet dress I picked up for formal night - I've probably guaranteed we'll have record high temps in the Inside Passage over Labor Day weekend! :rotfl:

:lmao:I sure hope you've done the trick! Shorts and a top is my casual wear and we were just on the Princess Panama and I NEVER wore the jeans that I took just the capri and shorts!

I looked at what I packed after reading everyone and have decided to put away my shorts. I just bought a combo capri/shorts fr WDW and am gonna take that instead.

I know I have long underwear somewhere (came in handy in December 2011 when it was freezing in WDW! Oh My!) just gotta find it. But I luv the idea of a fuschia hoodie! Will see you coming and going!

I was just thinking about Lands End because I don't have a short heavy jacket and I think my one long winter coat probably doesn't fit me anymore (it sure fits the closet well tho).

So other than my long underwear and that jacket (want one with a hood) I am pretty set to go packing wise...I could leave tomorrow:lmao:

Well it was hell driving in to work with the lightening (really not used to it) and thunder going off. We have flash flood warning until 9:45a.

At work trying to concentrate but am loving the storm (probably cuz I am indoors) and the electricity goes out! Right in the middle of my DCL Alaska research:surfweb: ~ nooooo....today was supposed to be a quiet goof off type of day.

Am trying to get my "things to do" research going...like what to do in Haines, the Mendenhall hikes information and my shopping lists! Luv the rain.

I love thunderstorms, the more lightning and thunder the better:)

Tracey, when it is 80 degrees going through Tracy Arm--we'll all blame you:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

2 new skirts and a cardigan were delivered her yesterday. Also 4 of the 9" white vinylmations. I saw several of the pictures where the characters signed them, so I thought that would be a neat keepsake for my traveling party and a nice surprise when they get delivered the last night. I didn't realize how big they were---so going with 4 and coming home with 1 will ensure I have room for a few souveniers:) Now I need to add a big bag of candy to my don't forget list:goodvibes

Oh, My I am so in trouble I have not got anything for this cruise for staying warm. I live in Orange County I don't even own a rain jacket. I better start thinking what we will need. I have a little girl I have to keep warm. My son however, I'm sure will be in sorts:rotfl2:

I am not packing a lot of really warm stuff. I have a wool hoodie vest that I am bringing, 1 turtle neck a few l/s tees & the hoodie with our logo, & some gloves. A couple pairs of jeans & capris. If by chance it is really cold, I'll just purchase something in port. Seems like Tracy Arm day has been the coldest for each cruise so far and I can tough it out for 1 day:) I did purchase some fleece that I am going to try to make scarves for my travel party--hopefully I'll find some time to play with those--If not the receipt is with it in the bag and I'll just return the supplies:rolleyes1

I keep figuring that it will get a degree or 2 warmer with each cruise:goodvibes

There was a discussion somewhere about them moving the semiformal night to the last night because too many excursions got in too late from Ketchikan. The menu wasn't changed though. And not everybody got the message. I will say if it's Ketchikan I'm not going to be very formal or even semi.
