ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Thanks everyone for the advice! I will add it to my notes for the trip. I am a little unsure about what I am doing since I have never done this before and feel more comfortable now that I have you all to ask! Thanks!:thumbsup2

Paula,
My 2 DD will be parking across the street from your station for the concert tonight. Are they ok there?

Yep, they should be fine. It really is a very safe area. Alan didn't go down tonight to park cars. If they have any problems send them into my Shell, my son Adam is working tonight:) Are they in the parking garage? If I would have known earlier I would have told you it was okay they parked on my lot.

Looks like they had great weather for their cruise too!!

I had an early day downtown this morning. My Shell got new KY Lottery instant ticket machines. They are so cool--customers can check their tickets, cash winners up to $25 and play the online games in addition to purchasing their scratch offs. I have had the instant machines for almost 10 years and am so excited for the new changes:) I am hoping they help out some with the lines we get before the mid day and evening draws.:cool1::cool1:

Name tags are finished, unless we have any more participants:goodvibes

Labels are printed for my FE gifts:cool1:

Printed some labels for my DCL luggage tags to slap on the last night--much easier than filling them out.

Printed all my confirmations and sorted them for Vancouver, Cruise & Seattle. I like to use those zippered pencil pouches (that have the binder holes in them) in different colors

Now I need to figure out my door signs.........................

Now I need to figure out my door signs.........................

I did those last weekend. Started out saying a just wanted a couple with our Dis Meet Logo and maybe our names. Ended up printing out a ton so you all will definitely be able to spot our door! Got fancy and ordered a FE hanger on Etsy too during a weak moment...have to say it's really cute. Still have to assemble all my FE gifts but at least I have all the "parts" ready to go! :thumbsup2 Can't believe the cruise is sold out!

Melissa, I always end up with a bunch also. That's one of the reasons I use a couple sheet protectors, makes it easier to switch them out and not as many magnets:rotfl2:

I am sure your FE is adorable--I have looked at them on Etsy and Ebay:)

Wow ~ for real! a sold out ship. Hmm...do you think it will be crowded? ie. the shops, the ice cream line, pictures with Mickey?

I haven't done anything in 3 weeks! I feel like I am starting to get behind. I have the designs in the computer just have to download onto the magnet paper.

I am waiting for the Aug 1 deadline to make sure I have enough so that if I have to go out and get more I can make one trip.

Paula that is great that you got the name tags finished. Mahalo:thumbsup2 for doing them! and it is cool to hear about your machines.:goodvibes Sounds like being in a casino:)

PJ did you get to see the shuttle return?

Got some more ink for my printer, so hope to work on FE gifts & door signs this weekend - will prob print on photo paper & use magnet strips vs the magnet paper.

Still need to finish my FE pouch - the embroidery on the pockets & top part is done, I just need to assemble it & for that, I need to dig out my sewing machine.

Need to do some clothes shopping this weekend - dress-up slacks & shoes for me & Scott, plus he may need another button down shirt for the formal/semi-formal nites - he's wearing polos & khakis the other nights, I think - he's not a dress-up kinda guy! (Tho he did pick up 2 Disney ties on eBay :D )

Been reading thru the PassPorter DCL PDF - lots of good stuff!

We are being way more casual this cruise. Alan has always rented a tux on any of our 7 night or longer cruises but not this time. I think he is packing a sport coat (unless it doesn't fit anymore) otherwise it will just be dress shirt with a tie. I'll probably end up missing my long formals & tiara, but it just makes things way easier & less expensive on my travel party. You may even see me in jeans at dinner:scared1:--I've never even packed jeans for a cruise before:rotfl2:

I had to buy ink the other day too Tracey. Costco had a $20 coupon when you bought 2 multipacks (no limit) so I stocked up. I've never gone to the expense of the magnetic paper. I bet your FE is going to be cute with the embrodiery on it. One of my friends made all of our travel party for the 08 Panama Canal cruise a FE and that's what I'll be bringing. Unless we are cruising it hangs on the closet in the kitchen as a catch all, and it always reminds me of my friend and the fun we had.

I sent pm's to the 3 people on the FE that we haven't heard from since Feb/March to see if they were still participating--haven't heard back from them yet, but I just sent them last night. They were max's gm, sumeto & hamm1207.

Been trying to get some of the house organized this morning. My goal is to get a box filled for Cedar Lake Lodge and if I make it to the closet a box of clothing that way it will be ready the next time they call for a pickup.

We've been on several full cruises--never noticed the ship really any more crowded. The worse was probably our 08 Panama Canal cruise because there were so many kids-----(never have I seen so many rowdy kids:scared1:) I think this cruise will mostly be adults if our sampling of 32 cabins is any indication of the other travelers.

Both stores have finally faxed their paperwork to me, so I guess I should get that done. Hope everyone is enjoying their day--it's another scorcher here.

I get a break from the heat today. I had 2 six hour training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. They were in a warehouse production facility on Collins lane. Warehouse temp 102 both days. No AC. I feel for those guys and gals. Paula you may use their products. Grindmaster and Cecil Ware. They make coffee grinders, frozen beverage machines, fryers and cappuccino machines among other restaurant and service station equipment.

Yep, I have quite a bit of their equipment. I LOVE my 12 head (might only be a 10)cappuccino machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was talking to my brother yesterdy--he works for Jones Plastics in Camden TN--he said their shop has been over a 100. That's unbearable--makes me appreciate that I work inside most of the time.

Alan has been scraping the islands and curbs at our Broadway store--I think he about ready to finally paint. He has been coming home dragging.

Rick are you changing jobs?

Can't wait for our cruise so thought I would share this photo I found from Skagway today...

Skagway7-22-11.jpg

No not changing jobs. I have it too good. I do business and industry training for the college. I teach a wide area of specialties. I teach robotics, heating and air, electricity, appliance repair, automated manufacturing, multi-skilled technicians, and I am the state subject matter expert in residential energy auditing. Oh yeah I also teach grindmasters/cecilware product repair:)

Great picture looking back at the Wonder in Skagway, Thanks ! :earsboy:

Hope everyone else gets out of the heat soon, ours came yesterday, temps back down in mid 80's and low humidity - feels great :yay:

State back to work yesterday as well, second day of getting back on track. I now have 22 cases to schedule with only 25 work days before leaving for Alaska, could be tough. :confused3

Paula - What bag tags did you print for the last night ? I think I remember ours coming complete with airline boarding passes since we have used the on-board air check in the last few cruises.

This is getting close enough now that we can actually start to worry about the minute details. :sail:

Rick, you sure are a handy guy to have around!!!!

Mike--they are just computer address labels, with name address & phone number. I just peel & stick them to the tags DCL gives for the luggage the last day. Saves my fingers from filling out several of them. Then all I have to do is fill the ___ of ___ out. Glad to hear you are back to work--I am sure it will keep you very busy until it is time to leave.

PJ, can't wait to see that myself!! My friend Lisa leaves tomorrow to head to Vancouver for her cruise Tuesday. Ours is getting closer:goodvibes
