ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

Good luck with all those cookie boxes!

I am going to try to look at excursions again this week:)

Hi Des & Paula -- Dave and I aren't on this cruise but my sister and brother-in-law are. This is her first cruise and I'm sending her the link to this thread. I've never done and Alaskan cruise so can't recommend any excursions. Any recommendations -- positive or negative -- for Alaska cruises like this one. Since this is their first cruise I'm assuming that they will stay with Disney sponsored excursions. The only one she has mentioned is wanting to pan for gold. Any advice will be helpful.

Barbara

Hi Barbara, glad to have your sister onboard. Right now I am pretty overwhelmed myself trying to narrow excursions down. I have read Stace's trip report from when she did the Pearl to try to give me some inspiration. Some of them that I really think I would like to do are just too expensive:(

Tracy, there is no right or wrong answer about the FE. It is totally up to you in what you decide to do. I am sure after Des gets her cookies out of the way and once we get closer the list will include all the cabins and also a listing of who is in there and ages of the kids (if any).

They should be putting times up soon for the May cruises. I have a friend that is sailing I think in June, I'll ask her to get them for me when she is able to book her excursions. Probably in some of ht eports it would be feasible to do 2 different excursions, but I find whenever I have tried to do that it makes for a really long tiring day.

I have received the Alaska official tourism mailings as well as mailings from the Tour Association. I have seen a few of the private excursions that really seem to be what we would like to do and have begun following up. I am looking most deeply into the Bear sighting tours, most seem to be from the vehicle, found 1 that have platforms in the open as the vantage point.

I am sorry I haven't been around - cookies get overwhelming for us. I hope to have the logo all sized and such this week.

All the cabins who have asked to be listed are currently listed. I will start a spread sheet with ages etc. as soon as I get my life back :lmao:

As for excursions..we have been looking at them...have them narrowed down I think.

Have a great Sunday!

I love that you did this. How do i get on these mailings? I have began most of my search through the web. I will be booking mostly outside of Disney. I fear most tours will be gone by the time we get to book. I have had great success booking outside of the cruise. We too are looking into a Bear watching tour. I think we are going to do a float plane.

Look forward to hearing you thoughts on seeing the "BEST" of each place. I do have a very adventurous 13 yrs old son and a 4 1/2 year old girl that will be coming.

Good to hear about the logo. Can't wait to order the shirts.

Also glad you are getting your life back. LOL:rotfl2:

We were all the way on page 5!!!!!

Des, hope you are recovering from your fall! And that the cookie sales are going well:)

Adam leaves this afternoon for his 1st trip to WDW without us. After some last minute scrambling over the last few weeks his cousin Jeremy is going with him. They both are really excited. Bo (his dog) is coming to stay at our house. Maya (my cat) is in for a big uproar in her daily routine. It is going to be an interesting 6 days at our house

I finally bit the bullet yesterday and purchased our airline tickets to WDW for our "Big Family Bader/Thomas Vacation" in June. There are 31 family members going and I have 8 rooms booked for us all at OKW. So far one of the families has taken advantage of the YES program (thanks again to whoever brought that to my attention) Anyone going to be at WDW June 18th-25th? We are going to try to meet up with Laurie & Darren.

It's a rainy rainy day here, which makes it hard to get started this morning. But I need to get in gear and head into the stores so I can get my work finished so I can get Adam to the airport on time. Hope everyone has a great week:)

Bought my air this week. Lax to Vancouver. It was a lot. Direct flight $390 a person no baggage charge for the first bag. WE have a late flight out. 4pm. So we will be looking for some fun do do before our flight. Getting excited!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.!!!!!!

Kimberly, that's great you have your airfare. Always nice to get something crossed off the list:)
We can't touch Vancouver for less than $800. Seattle is around $450, but we'll have to add a hotel stay for the 6th due to the travel time. I almost have enough points to get the flights free on SWA :banana:

Right now our flights from Edmonton to Van. are $400 so I am waiting and hoping they will come down in price. I am hoping to get them for about $300.

We haven't gotten our airfare yet...I really need to do that!

I hope everyone is doing well....life here is crazy... cookie season is goin g well..my DD is almost to her goal of 1500 boex and the cupboard is going well with the leaders getting more cookies. Today was supposed to be my "day off" from the cupboard but I just got a call that I am needed so off I will go in about an hour.

I am doing better after my fall..I put my back out and my knee is doing better.

I leave in less then 2 weeks for a MR cruise and need to pick up my in laws on the 19th for the cruise. They have never been on a cruise so this should be fun!

Have a great day! I hope to be more with it soon....I get this way every year...:rotfl2:

Des, hopefully you find some time to relax (at least a bit) before your cruise. Glad to hear you are are feeling ok:)

It would be nice to relax but our last cupboard is the 18th and my last cookie booth sale is the 19th..we sail on the 20th. It's okay..we go through this every year but I am really proud of my girls..they have done a fantastic job this year!

You have been sooo busy! :scared1:
I think I need to make arrangements, with you, so I can meet the ship when it comes in......... I have been craving a Parrot Song, for the past week. (just kidding)

I put a hold on this cruise- we 'may' be coming - just not 100%. We live 30 mins from Vancouver, so its hard to resist the ship being in our own backyard! We are not interested in alaska much, and the ship wil be our 'destination'. My daughter will be 15 and I am a single mom.
Just looking at finances and whether we want to do it or not (we live in Vancouver- do we really want to cruise to Alaska? Then again, no expense for flights is NICE!) -
What I need to know is dates on this - final payment and cancellation without losing a deposit? Anyone have t hese dates handy so I don't have to do the math? lol Thaks.

I don't remember exactly, but off the top of my head final payment is due around May 25th.

So that would be the date to cancel by and get my deposit back?? We are really torn - but its a cheaper vacation than airfare/hotels/cruise elsewhere and we miss the disney ship so much!

The PIF date for this cruise is May 2, 2011. I'm a Gold Castaway Club member and my booking date for excursions, Palo, etc., is May 17, 2011.

Therefore, cancellation fees begin May 3, 2011.

Hope that helps.
