ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

we do a lot less than we did yesterday.

last 2 days extra hours to shut down all of our systems preparing for shutdown, park all files and unlink all online filing or application systems :surfweb:

now we wait for the unemployment compensation filing system to crash with the high volume over the next couple of days

oh well, the brain trust at the capitol will have to figure something out :sad2:

Hopefully your shut down won't last too long:sad2:

Hi Paula,

You mentioned the Cedar Brook Lodge for 93 dollars. What do you know about getting this hotel in Seattle? We will be doing the same thing as you are. Disembarking and heading to Seattle. I am hoping to stay on the link so we can spend some time seeing the city quickly. Our flight leaves for Louisville at 9 the morning of the 7th. We are on SW

Hi Rick,

It will be listed when you pull up the Seattle Airport area. It is a 3.5* and has 100% in Hotwire customer reviews. Amenities it shows are shuttle, fitness, food & internet. Currently it only shows up the 1st part of July--so I figure it will be at least 4 or 5 weeks before it comes up for Sept.

It gets really nice reviews so I am really hoping to get it:) Our SWA flight leaves the 7th at around 2pm.

I have also looked at the 3* Suite that has 95% customer reviews that pulls up for the Kent area it is $54. It is the Hawthorn Suites and it also gets good reviews. It also provides a shuttle to the light rail, includes breakfast and also a light dinner with beer & wine through the week.

Hawthorn Suites

So that being said, I really hope to get the Cedar Brook Lodge for less than $100 and if it doesn't come up I am going to book the Hawthorn Suites for $55.

If you happen to catch it showing up before I do, will you post to let me know? And I will post when I find it. I check twice a week:thumbsup2

If you & your wife and your traveling couple would like to try to get together for a dinner sometime late July though mid August it would be fun getting to know you all before our cruise:goodvibes

I know everyone is doing their 4th traveling so I hope you all had a safe trip and a wonderful time.

For me, it is quiet this 4th ~ just winding down doin' nothing (nice:thumbsup2).

Cross your fingers that we get out online check in done this weekend...my Mom has said that we will finish it so here's hoping!

I like that they are all linked but don't like it for this very reason...so used to doin' my own thing.

Hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July holiday:cool1::cool1: Ours is nice and quiet. I am really hoping that all the neighbors exhausted their supplies of fireworks--it was crazy loud here last night.

Folks here are going nuts still. We have a 5 acre pond in the back of our house so there is no obstructions for some distance. It looks like thunder over louisville

They have finally stopped here for the most part. Maya is finally starting to move around a bit. CRAZY!!!! I don't remember there being as much of them last year.

Very pretty PJ!!!!!!!

I have been very busy today getting a ton of stuff crossed off my work to do list---some of them went back to 2009:scared1: I am expecting anyday to get my notice from the IRS that they are auditing me again (it will be my 3rd one since December 2009). I got the usual letter from them last month that has always preceeded the notice of audit:rolleyes1

But as the last paper prints out of my printer my list is clear until July 20th when the sales tax return is due to the state:banana::banana::banana:

Are we going to be seeing snow capped mountains during our cruise? :confused3
Does anyone have any idea of the normal temps at our ports? It is getting closer and I am becoming more anxious:banana::banana::banana:

I sure hope we see snow capped mountains!!!!!

Average temps
Vancouver
Juneau 56 high--43 low 7.21 inches rain
Skagway 58 high-43 low 4.06 inches rain
Ketchikan 60 high-46 low
Tracy Arm---everyone has said this was the coldest day

Since I made scarves for my travel party I am betting it may be in the 70's:rotfl2:

Rick have you been following any of the trip reports for the Alaska cruises? If not I'll post some links for you. Seems like they are getting a bit warmer each week, but September starts the cool down there. I'd be delighted with anything is the 60's----that's the start of my flip flops & capri wearing here at home:)

Here's my wish list :wizard:

78 degree semi sunny weather:goodvibes
with snow capped mountains
and eagles flying over mountain goats
with a bear or two peeking around a tree
and a pod of whales :thumbsup2 to escort us either in or out of the
Inside Passage.

pixiedust:

Piikea, that list shouldn't be too difficult for Mickey to pull off:rotfl:

I'm hoping ~

Wanted to thank you for your encouragement:thumbsup2

We are FINALLY checked in! I am so excited. I got my Mom to give me the information to finish it. So I am happy that is out of the way and maybe we will get our names preprinted on stuff like you suggested might happen!

I can't wait ~ 53 more days!

PJ ~ I love the pics! I didn't even think to take pics of our fireworks...night practice with my camera since I am still learning how to use it (it is less than 1 yr).

Tried to get FIL & his wife checked in this weekend, since we were over at their place for a cookout on the 4th, but their internet was down.
Told them to call once it came back up & if they needed help, or I could check in online for them while on the phone (for passport #'s etc)

Did a "test pack" of my suitcase - it's fairly new & bigger than I'm used to, so wanted to make sure I wasn't going overboard - came in just over 30lbs, so I have plenty of wiggle room!

Still need to work on the FE gifts and finish up our FE - maybe this weekend.

Oh my! That is great if you are at 30lbs! I sure hope that I stay under 50!:rotfl:
(that's why I started my "test pack" way back when and have redone it at least 2x now:lmao:)

It is such a relief to know that check in is done...you will be so happy.
