ALASKA - August 30th, 2011 - Mickeys Mooseketeers & the last Alaskan Cruisade! New Th

No docos yet, but I did bite the bullet and ordered the new PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line paperback - hoping that it gets printed & shipped before our cruise. Dave & Jennifer are currently saying "August" - so it's cutting it close.

I did get access to the full book in PDF form, so if the physical book gets delayed, I have the option to print out some of the info.

I pre-ordered it too after they printed one of my articles so I got a $25 gift certificate to spend. :cheer2:

I'm hoping to have the real book before our cruise, but if not I will just put it on the iPad and bring it along. :)

I haven't ordered one yet. Maybe I should. I lost my old one on a train a while back.

I need to check it out too. So you all think it's worth getting? Any info we don't know already in there? I checked out Birnbaum's at Borders and it was Disney Cruise 101...nothing earth shattering so I didn't get it. Did get Fodor's Alaska's Ports of Call (good, info on restaurants, excursions) and Compass American Guides: Alaska's Inside Passage (also very good, more info on Alaska itself).

You're right at the Birnbaum's book. I have that as well as the Fodors' Alasksa Ports of Call. I found that one pretty informative.

I'm hoping that the Passporter has some new information.

Hey PJ that's great that they took one of your articles! and yes gifts coming in like that are always something to chear about!

I was gonna cave and get the book but since it took so long and I am almost finished doing most of my trip planning I decided to just wait and see.

Maybe if one of you bring it I can take a peek:rolleyes1

So last weekend I was on the west shore and decided to stop by and take a look at Aulani. OMG! :yay: It is huge!

I usually stay at the Ihilani Resort since it has a really good spa and boy did it look tiny next to the Aulani.

It was awesome!

I have something to look forward to after our cruise so I shouldn't be on a withdrawal too bad. Now I can get my fix and head over there for a character breakfast or just walk around!:cheer2:

 We finally got a room assignment! I have looked at my reservation online a hundred times and was shocked to see a number there! Room 8026 here we come!!

Mine was there today too - I've been upgraded 11C to 9C.

YEA!!! So happy for you both. Is this you first cruise? I stayed on time on level 8 and the rooms are HUGE!!!

I pre-ordered it too after they printed one of my articles so I got a $25 gift certificate to spend. :cheer2:

That is so cool. Way to go. What was your article on? I guess I got to order the book.

Attending a conference in Washington DC this week and waiting for class to start. Have a riverboat cruise tonight on the Potomac headed to the monuments. Not quite as good as a Disney Cruise, but I think it will hold me over until August 30th. :rotfl:

I'd tell you to wave but I am going to be on the Metro going UNDER the river.

This is our third Disney cruise...have sailed on Princess (Baltic) and Costa (Greece twice, Canary Islands/Morocco) before too. We are excited about the upgrade and the location. :cheer2:

I'm going to order the Passporter book too and transfer it onto my Kindle. They said something about releasing all the chapters on PDF in the next few weeks...maybe some new info? Poohj80, what was your article on? That is way cool they used it!

It's my 8th Disney cruise.

Second one to get upgraded from an inside cabin. Probably more excited about the split bathroom than the porthole.

Isn't that split bath great? There is only my husband and me, but we always find it so convenient.

Now, if only I can figure out how to get an up grade. This will be my 7th Disney cruise, but no upgrade :confused3. But, hey, there is still time for this one. The ship hasn't sailed yet :rotfl::goodvibes!

Hmmm...I gotta catch up with you guys! This will be my second Disney cruise. But I have cruised on Princess to Tahiti, Panama and Alaska. On all of these cruises I was never the one to do the planning so this has been something for me.

I have lucked out in that for some reason the rooms we get have always been "just what we needed" so am not too worried about the upgrade - unless it is the Disney Suite:rotfl:

I didn't know you could go UNDER the Potomac! Same Metro ride as going from Jersey to NYC?

I would think the night cruise is nice with all the lights.

This will be our second Disney cruise too. We have done 7 Carnival cruises and have 8-11 booked with them.

The entire PassPorter DCL book is out in PDF format now - I transferred mine to my iPhone & am also reading thru it on my computer.

Is it essential? Probably not, but I've been a fan of their WDW guides for years & years - the info is well-organized & researched.

Just cancelled high tea for two on the last sea day, Monday the 5th, in case someone wants it.
