Alaska 06/11/12 Anyone Sailing ?

Yep, kept logging out and back in again and again, took a while but FINALLY got in. Got our second choice for Dog sledding but just glad we got one-kids can't stop talking about doing that and wasn't sure how I was going to tell them we couldn't  Only thing couldn't book was a zipline. My DS turns 10 while on the ship and even though he will be 10 (min age) by the time we do it, the site only recognizes him as 9. Emailed to see if could get around or will try on board. Now need to start working on our stays in Seattle and Portland pre and post cruise...

Glad it finally worked for you. Congrats on the Dog Sledding! Hope you all get to go ziplining too!

Congrats to all you night owls who booked Palo and excursions last night. It sounds like it went well. Keep your fingers crossed for us newbies who will be booking on the 28th.

Pixie08: I have main seating.

So...my husband doesn't want to do high tea with me! :confused3
They still have some tables available...does anyone want to meet for tea and have some "girl time!" :goodvibes

Just let me know (preferably today while the tables are still there.)

Thanks!

Kim

Awesome...maybe we will be in the same rotation!:thumbsup2

We got everything too. the system did crash once when I tried to change palo times but I just ogged off and back on again and it was fine!

We booked:

Tea: Sea Day
Brunch: Tracy arm day
Palo Dinner: Juneau
Skagaway: White Pass
Juneau Whales, galciers and Slamon bake adults only
Ketchikan: Rainforest Island Adventure

Grumpymom- we were going to do the adventure karts but I didn't know what to do because it was at 9am, and it said it was a 4-4.5 hout excursion and we are only in port until 12:30. Do think it is a problem? I might want to change it back to the adventure cart but i am not sure, I mean if DCL offers it, iy should be ok?

Totally surprised DH and I that DD(8) spoke up about wanting to do a dog-sledding thing. Noticed it's offered in two ports - which are you booked for?

We're among the so-called newbies that don't get to book until the 28th. Been on plenty of cruises - just not DCL. So we wait.... and hope.... fingers crossed we'll get something we want.

Hope you get your zipline. Their computer system should be smart enough to calculate the kids ages on the cruise dates. Wonder why they base it off their age at time of booking.

I wasn't happy with the 9AM time. I was really hoping it would be earlier so we would have time to walk around the town. However, this was the one thing my DH and both my DS really wanted to do, so......
It lists the return time as 12:30 which is when we are suppose to set sail.:rolleyes1 I'm not worried though because if you book thru DCL they can't leave you!

Oh and we are second seating.

At least you got the dog sledding:cool1:Sorry about the zipline.

Grumpymom73...oh it says the return time is 12:30?Well that is ok I guess, I have to talk to DH because he wanted to do this. I am going to check if it is still available.

Midwestpat- I was asking so if any of us saw each other we would have some friends. I don't think this cruise is going to be too packed, so chances are we all might run in to each other but might not even know it.

For our med cruise last year we set up a blog with photos and a meet and everything but there were like 60-80 (with our families) of us! It was a huge meet on the sea day.I'll post a link to my blog that I think has a pic in it so you guys have an idea of what we look like so if yoiu run into us you can say hi:wave2:

I know the 28th is still a ways out but......it looks like most things are still available. There is even still High Tea and Brunch in Palo available.
Just a hint...if you look for these on our Sea day and there is nothing available check Tracey Arm and Victoria day. I noticed that they are offering High Tea and Brunch on these days also. :thumbsup2

Yes this is true! We actually have Tea on the Sea day but decided to switch brunch from Tracey Arm to Victoria! there were many slots available on all days. So that is good news for anyone interested in that.

We are doing it in Juneau. The Dog Sledding on Mendenhall Glacier. We also got our zipline! I emailed DCL and explained and they booked it for us! Just found out my mom is going to try to go with us. I told her to wait a few weeks until after the no cancellation date to see if they introduce any deals. Looking it seems like there are cabins available in almost all the categories!

It's really great to hear that there are still a lot of things open for Palo, it gives me some hope that hubby and I will get a spot or maybe even 2, fingers crossed! I did have a question though...was there seriously excursions in Victoria? I have a hard time believing that we could do anything with such a short time period. If not, what is everyone planning to do there? I can't really decide if we should miss our dinner on board and go out there or what exactly we should do?? :confused3

I'm with you on the Victoria excursions. We decided that since it was the last night of the cruise with our servers and our luggage has to be put out we are skipping the evening excursions. The only thing I wanted to do was high tea in Victoria, but I'm having high tea at Palo! Never done that, so excited!

There were a lot of excursions listed when I checked. We decided to not leave the ship in Victoria but I was surprised at all that were available since it is such a short time.

DGS and I are definately planning to leave the ship in Victoria. We have early dinner, though and hopefully can eat before we go. Weather permitting we are planning on seeing the city on a double decker bus. Something I've never been on before and always liked when I saw them in the movies. This is kind of a "bucket list" trip for me so I would like to see the beauty of Victoria. Heard it is a beautiful city. Never having cruised before, I don't really know what I might be missing on the ship.

We were going to do the Buschart Gardens and Butterfly tour in Victoria, but not sure how much you can see in the dark?! Guess I should trust Disney, but we'll save our money and use it for souveniers!!

BTW - Still looking for people to do the Fish Extenders - c'mon, it'll be fun! :thumbsup2

It's spring/summer in Alaska, the sun should still be out. It doesn't set as early as it does in the mid and southern latitudes.

Great news!

Victoria- we went back and forth on this. It will still be light out so if you wanted to you could get off. From our experience with the DCL cruise and the Med cruise, we just don't see how this is going to work for us:confused3 We didn't book anything with Disney. I can't bring myself to pay $80 pp for 3 hours- it will not be worth it. By the time we disembark, go through customs, how much time is relay there 2.5- 3 hours? We may get off the ship and have a look around, but chances are not. I am going for Alaska and Seattle and I know this is supposed to be beautiful but I learned from my Med cruise that if I missed one port it wouldn't break my cruise. It's personal preference.
