Alaska 06/11/12 Anyone Sailing ?

We were able to book our Palo Brunch res too! Yay!
We booked dinner for night 6 - Ketchican
Also booked our excursion.
We got booted from the site once (which scared me) but everything was still avail when we logged back in!
Wahoo!!!

Tried to get brunch the first day at sea for Palo, but all was taken. We ended up doing our brunch on Victoria morning. Got all of our first choices, except on Skagway. We got our 2nd choice of the White Pass Rail and Trail Camp. We wanted the Klondike Gold and White Pass. Maybe I will keep trying. I signed up for something in every port (even Victoria) and can decide to cancel later.

I might set my alarm to do online checkin in 2.5 hours. We will see how motivated I am :) Good night everyone!

Port Adventures are booked.....online check in done.......DCL website makes it all so easy. Got all the excursions we wanted but one, but that will give us time in Skagway to look around and do some souvenior shopping. Didn't need any Palo reservations as I'm travelling with my grandson. Trying to decide now if it's worth going back to bed. Have to get ready for work in an hour. Congrats to everyone tonight. Sounds like it all went well.

Question from the newbie sailor.....

We have excursions in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, which all leave at around 7am. What happens if we have our character breakfast one of those mornings? My daughter will be so sad if she can't eat with the characters. We don't want to miss an excursion either. Can you ask to have your breakfast moved to another day like first sea day, Tracy Arm or Victoria? :confused3

We also booked Palo for dinner on Ketchikan day! Our reservation is at 6:30 - you? (Maybe we'll see you there?)

We might see you leaving :sad2:...LOL. Our res is for 8:30, I did that because we are on second seating dinner schedule so we wanted to keep dinner around the same time every night!

I just wish I had more information beforehand about Character Breakfast, Formal & Semi-Formal Nights, Dessert Buffet, Taste of Alaska Night, Dining Rotation, EVEYTHING pretty much! :rotfl: I would think that with everything so automated you would get a choice as to what you wanted, oh well, I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that everything works out and I don't have to change anything around when we get there. I can always cancel Palo I guess, if it comes down to it, or move around my CB maybe? Ahh so much to think about!

Finished Check-In as well and we are supposed to arrive at 11:00-11:30! I wanted an early time so we didn't have to dilly dally in Seattle too long, made sure we could just check-out of the hotel and go to port :thumbsup2

I was shocked to see that 11-1130 was still an option when I did online check in last night. Makes me wonder if the terminal will be an absolute zoo! I wonder if we arrive at 11, but don't get on the boat until MUCH later. That would be disappointing.

Well, I managed to get a Brunch Res at Palo on our first sea day and a dinner res at Palo on the actual day of our Anniversary (Ketchikan Day)! Sadly though, all of the High Tea reservations are already sold out :sad2: Oh well, I guess we will try our luck next time we cruise! It was quick and easy to sign in, and very fast. Good luck to everyone else booking things today! I hope you get what you want!!!

I think I'll just do check-in when I wake up in the morning, I don't want to stay up for 3 more hours...LOL
:cheer2::banana::cool1::cheer2:

You could always try to get High Tea once you board. :wizard:

I was able to book our first choice night for dinner at Palo, plus all three excursions we chose. Yay!!! Two things I'm scratching my head over
- the Ketchikan excursion was only available at a 7:00 a.m. time, so it says it ends at 10 (which is fine), but the itinerary doesn't even show us docking until 7:15, and I sure didn't expect to have to be up and dressed so darn early! May cancel that one, not sure.
- wondering when do we pay for excursions? We're first-time DCL, but experienced on other cruise lines. Always had to pay for excursions when booked, if you booked before the cruise sailed. So I'm wondering if they're going to send me an email bill? Pay at embarkment? It gets rolled into the final bill when we disembark??? I'm sure some of you experienced DCL people know the answer to this.

Headed to bed. It's pretty late, and I have to be up fairly early. Will check tomorrow to see if more people celebrate booking their excursions.

They will gather the earliest excursions together and let them disembark first.
All excursions are charged to your on board account. No need to pay prior to the cruise.

I believe, and I could be wrong but......I always thought Character Breakfasts were on At Sea days. For us I think they would use our At Sea, Tracey Arm and Victoria days.

Congrats to everyone who got what they wanted and if you didn't......
FAITH, TRUST and PIXIE DUST!!!!

Anyway...to the people doing the fish extender, we now have 7 cabins partipating! (Finally getting up there!:goodvibes). We would love a few more, so please sign in or pm me!

Do you have a list somewhere? Probably need to start working on it :)

To whoever was thinking of skipping Palo-DON'T!! It's worth it for the chocolate souffle alone. When we were on the Dream last August one of our bartenders at the Meridian bar actually snuck me one-free! YUM! As for your child in the kids club-well, our kids (DD7, DS9) wake up asking if they can go there-and are disappointed when we tell them they have to hang with us some first LOL! Although I am a little worried this time after being on the club on the Dream last summer they are going to be disappointed going back to the Wonder - no space age handwashers.

Only thing left to buy is my DH and my waterproof shoes. And all the FE gifts!

I just about fell in the floor laughing...at your above statement, I had to re-read it twice to figure out that you meant you had to buy both you and your DH a pair of waterproof shoes...:rotfl: It sounded to me like the only thing left you had to buy was your DH...:lmao::rotfl: Yay! A good laugh for the day! Yeah I am working on all of my FE gifts at the moment too!!

That was our theory too - we wanted enough time to not feel rushed that morning, but we didn't want to have extra time and no place to be after check-out time at the hotel. So we chose noon-12:30. Check out time at our hotel is noon.

Hi everyone. Myself, my 6 year old daughter, and my mother, will be on this cruise while my wife is visiting family in China (yes, she's jealous of *our* trip!)

We're on late dining, and I hope we're matched with another family with young girls. My daughter can be shy, and I hope she'll be able to make some friends so my mother and I can do Palo Brunch.

We've book the White Pass in Skagway, the Taku Lodge in Juneau, and Butchart/Butteryfly in Victoria. Taku was a bit pricey - but just the 5 glacier float plane was already sold out on 3/28 at 12:10PM!

We had actually thought of disembarking in Victoria, as post cruise we wanted to spend 4 days in the Vancouver area.

It's getting closer....:woohoo:

We spent the day at Cocoa Beach today and got to see the Fantasy in port! Looks so pretty sitting there next to those other ships. :rotfl: We didn't stay for the sail away, but it helped get us all excited for our cruise!:cloud9:

Welcome paulgani and family!!!

Got all the materials for my FE gifts today. Now I just have to get them made. Got our pillowcase ready and our photomat. On the way home, found a great used stroller and carseat at a garage sale and got it for my new grandchild that is due in September. Now I have to get out the instructions for my camera and start practicing.

Welcome! My daughter is 8, and also a bit shy. We're planning to check her into the Oceaneer kid's club, when we go to dinner at Palo. Of course, at this point we have no idea what hours they're open or what activities will be occuring during our dinner time slot. We have the earlier dinner seating though, so we won't be your table-mates.

We also booked White Pass in Skagway - specifically we booked the one with the youth activity. I'm hoping the crew is good enough with kids to get the shy ones to join in the games described in the excursion description.

Glad to see more people joining this forum. :)
