Alaska 06/11/12 Anyone Sailing ?

I know Ashley, I feel the same way. Well better to better well informed, then not informed at all. Honestly I was more concerned about walking around Safeco before and now I still am lol.

I'm thinking of doing a practice run at packing. I'm really worried about fitting everything in and making weight. I keep telling myself not to over-pack but....that's like telling the sun not to rise. :rotfl2:

I was thinking the same exact thing, I have even started weighing my toiletries with a kitchen scale to make sure they aren't going to be too heavy....lmao

On a happy note, we received our ORCA cards in the mail today, I went ahead and got them so we can take the light rail straight from the airport to the hotel without having to stop and buy them ;) Tomorrow it will be 2 months until hubby and I head to Seattle! I almost can't contain my excitement! :yay::banana:

Hello,

Just wanted to stop in and say HI to everyone. We (all 11 of us) are so excited to be going on a Disney Cruise!

I know we booked late but we were able to choose everything we wanted off shore! Palo's...well, I"m still looking... But if it doesn't happen...there's always the next trip, right?!? LOL

We have 3 boys:
Maverick - 11
Kelly - 10
Logan - 8 (but he'll be 9 on the day we disembark!)

And 2 girls:
Kaitlyn - 8
Holly - 6

All the kids love to make new friends so I thought the Fish Extenders sounded like something they would love to do! Please let me know how to join!

We hope to run into everyone here, there!

Welcome Snufflekitty!!!

My grandson, Brock, will be 11 when we cruise and hopefully will meet up with your boys. We'd love to have you in our FE group!! I'm not allowed to post links yet, so I'll just type out the link I have to the FE info and list: http://www.disboards.com/showthread....7#post44123527 If it doesn't work, just pm lukikam and she will get you set up.

That link didn't work and I'm too new to send people PM's. I need at least 10 posts. Hmmm, I COULD flood this thread with how excited we all are...but I won't. LOL Hopefully likikam can PM me??? Please?!?! BTW-Did I mention we're excited!?! Well the adults at least...we havn't told the kids yet!

I'm home today with a sick kid so maybe I'll get a chance to do the practice packing I talked about. I'll let you all know how it goes. :scared:
Maybe this will help me decide if I need to buy more luggage. Anyway, it's getting SO close. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and I got an email from Delta......
Let's just say it's going to be a long trip home.:headache:
At least we don't start off on a bad note.

FE Group for Our Cruise!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=44123479#post44123479

Try this one...LOL

Welcome Welcome Welcome!! Glad you are excited to go on the cruise! I know we all are, so you should fit right in!! You are just making it in to the FE group...:rotfl: The deadline is in 2 days! That link should work! :goodvibes

We just booked this cruise on impulse last week and will be joining you! I've already posted on the FE thread. It will just be the three of us; our daughter is 16. We love cruising with DCL and I am happy to answer questions about DCL in general (I personally have not been on an Alaskan cruise, but have family and friends who cruised to Alaska last year).

Trying to juggle work (just returned from vacation) and cruise planning this week! :) My family will most likely be flightseeing while my feet stay on the ground so I may be looking for company!

Can't wait to meet you! Best,
Sarah

Last day for the Fish Extenders is comin' up soon (April 11th), so join up if you've been thinking about it! We've got ten cabins participating, but there's room for a couple more!

Heres the link - http://www.disboards.com/showthread....9#post44123479
or p.m. me.

Kim

I counted 12 cabins participating....is that correct? I have all my stuff laid out on our family room floor! :) I am hoping the deadline comes soon - I have been to the store several times to buy more! :) I know I started early but I wanted all the stuff before it was gone!

:yay: Getting Excited! We leave on our cruise in two months and one day! Anyone ever asked for an upgrade at the port?

There may be upgrades available for this cruise since they're selling VGT cabins (Verandah Guarantee). Check to make sure they still have cabins for sale for the category desired (i.e., Verandah) before the cruise. Arrive at the port early if you're hoping for a port upgrade as they are on a first-come first-served basis. Ask when you check-in and they will let you know. Price depends on the length of the cruise and the category change. It's really simple. My daughter (who was traveling with Grandma) upgraded their cabin all by herself a couple of years ago.

Hello everyone! I am snufflekitty's sister and I am part of the 11 that she mentioned is part of her group! I'm so excited! Can't wait to meet you all! And I can't wait to participate in the Fish Extenders!!!! :goodvibes

Welcome to all the newbies!!

We leave in 2 months!!!!!! I can't wait.

Well, I tried to do a trial run on packing. I only did my stuff and so far it doesn't look too bad. I had more room in the suitcase and was a good bit underweight but I really didn't put everything in. There is just so much and I'm still trying to decided what to put in our carry-ons. I keep thinking I'll put something in the carry-on but then I think no maybe I should put that in the checked and switch something else around. It's totally stupid but I feel so overwhelmed by the whole thing.:confused3 Add in the fact that we haven't flown in years and I'm freaking out over the whole what's allowed and what's not.:scared1:
Is everyone packing stuff like shower gel, shampoo and conditioner? I can't decided if we should just use the DCL stuff (Which I love, but usually stock-up and bring home with me to make vacation last just a little longer.LOL) or if I should pick some up in Seattle. We already asked the Town Car Service to make a stop for some adult beverages.:rolleyes1 I could jump over a few aisles and pick up some other stuff.

Maybe some of you who are used to flying more can offer some advice?
TIA

I'm so glad you asked about toiletries as it prompted me to look up the H2O website! They are currently running a special (don't know how long it will last) of buy 2, get 1 free with free shipping on purchases $75 or more. I'm placing an order the shampoo and conditioner as we're running low. :) My advice is to enjoy the toiletries onboard as part of your experience and take advantage of the sale to buy some to enjoy at home.

Don't worry about TSA too much! Here is the 311 list from the TSA:
http://www.tsa.gov/311/ The link to the list of prohibited items is on the bottom of the page. I fly all the time and almost never have issues (my bag just got flagged yesterday, but it's all good). In general, I would put all liquids (in double zip lock bags) and any questionable items in checked luggage. I either use the space created by our using the "disposable" items or bring an extra bag for our souvenirs.

Good luck!
