Alarm Clocks: Do You Need One?

I need an alarm clock. I get up too early during the week. My natural alarm clock is set for like 9A not 5:45A.:rotfl:

My husband doesnt need one and it always amazes me.

OP, you have house cats AND you need an alarm clock? At our house, the kitties wake up up at 6:30 to be fed. No way to sleep through having your hair pulled, while another jumps from the floor and lands solidly on your tummy.

I need two.

My alarm clock, and then my cell phone, five minutes later. Sometimes, even my mom calling. :S

Most of the time, no. But if I haven't gotten enough sleep, I MIGHT sleep too late.....;)

Like others have said, I use an alarm as a safety net. I usually can set my internal clock for a specific time.

The sound of alarms annoys me so much that I think my body wakes up a few moments before as a defense. That way I can disable the alarm before it goes off. Commercials and television shows that use alarms get "nails on a chalkboard" reactions from me. On days off I wake up at the same time, realize I can keep sleeping, and fall back asleep for maybe an additional hour.

LOL. On the weekdays, after DH takes a shower, he walks into the closet to get dressed. Without fail, every single workday, Charlie (tuxedo kitty) picks at the closet while my husband is in there dressing. DH closes the door so the light won't wake me, but what could be more irritating than a kitty picking at the door? LOL
On weekends, they are BAD, so bad, we should have a thread about how naughty they can be on weekends. Walking across my head is just the beginning... :rotfl:

Saphire, we have two kitties that look like yours only slightly different. The on in front looks like my Midden only his little black spot on his face is on his chin. The other cat looks exactly like my Bot who is merely short haired!

:cat: :cat:

Ohhh, I would love to see a picture, try to post one!

I'm up by 4am most mornings to go to work. I don't work a normal job that's 8 or 10 hours a day. My days are insane, I can work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week at times. I'm on vacation now, though.

And then I have kids to take care of, baths to give, laundry to do, etc.

Going to bed at 1am every night and having to get up by 4...no, I'd just keep right on sleeping. The alarm clock is a must in my world.

No - I never needed one when I worked (although I did set one "just in case") - nor did my DH.. He was an early riser anyhow, but for me it was a matter of being so terrified of oversleeping, I just automatically woke up before the alarm went off..

I absolutely hate being late - I think it's terribly rude and inconsiderate (no matter what the occasion) - so my "anxiety" was actually my "alarm clock" - LOL..

My alarm clock is 5'11' and over 250 lbs. I never hear the other one.

I'm up between 5 and 5:30 every day, unfortunately even on weekends when I could sleep in, darn internal clock. So I could wake up without my alarm clock, but I set it anyways. Also, my cat wouldn't let me sleep past that, he might gnaw my arm off if I didn't get up to give him fresh food and water!

I make a mental note to wake up at whatever time I need to get up, and I do. Every time, no matter the time, no matter how tired I am. Need to get up at 3 am for a flight, make a mental note before I go to sleep, wake up at 2:55.

I don't know how... :confused3

I still set the alarm, but it never gets a chance to go off.

SPOCK!!!!!

I guess not. Today I woke up two minutes after the alarm was supposed to go off for DH. And it was set, everything was ok- it just didn't sound.:confused3 ..it worked for me when I was to get up later. I have no idea why it didn't go off, or why I woke up..

I haven't really tried to go without one before (that is, need to be up at 9, not set the alarm and just see what happens), so I can't say for sure, but I think it's pretty likely that I'd have slept in. On days where I care when I'm up I set the alarm and days I don't, I don't.

Though most days I try to set the alarm early enough that I can snooze it at least 3 times. Since I can't snooze myself, I doubt I could get by without the alarm. ;)

We don't use alarm clocks. Either my DFiance or I will wake up at a pretty resonable hour and then wake the other. I don't think we've ever overslept when we needed to be up.

I forgot to add that I set an alarm every day of my life, even weekends when I don't really have to be up for anything. I was sick once and didn't set an alarm and slept straight through till 3 pm. Even though I was sick, I still felt like I wasted the entire day in bed, and I hate feeling out of control of my life like that.

Goofy, I know. :upsidedow

I need my alarm. But I generally don't sleep too late even without it, usually up by 9 or 10 at the latest. The thing is, even when my alarm goes off, I sometimes just turn it off and ignore it. Our lectures aren't mandatory, so I don't always go to class even though my alarm goes off. But I usually get a much better sleep after I turn the alarm off.

Now, when I have to get up for something important, I set 2 alarms, and usually have my mom, dad, or sister call as a backup. My alarm clock lets me set 2 different times, and I can have them both on at the same time, so that's what I do for an exam or something else important.

Yep - I'd sleep till 10 or 11 if I didn't have one. I used to be able to wake up immediately when the alarm clock went off - now I have to set it so I can hit snooze several times. I need that buffer to wake up.

My SIL says she does the same thing.

I need my alarm clock, if left to sleep undisturbed I could be out for a long time!
