OP, you have house cats AND you need an alarm clock? At our house, the kitties wake up up at 6:30 to be fed. No way to sleep through having your hair pulled, while another jumps from the floor and lands solidly on your tummy.
I guess we are just lucky with our animals. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats and if we sleep till noon, they will sleep till noon with us! Now the second we are up the cats run towards the feed bowl, but the cats (and sometimes one dog) sleep in the bed with us and seriously will stay in bed until we get up.
In our house we need an alarm clock, no way could either one of us wake up that early without an alarm. I am usually up by 8 at the latest during the week (I'm a stay at home mom) but on Sunday I have to set the alarm for 8:20 to get up for church or I will oversleep!!
So no, I don't need or use an alarm clock, even though I don't get up at the same time every morning.
