Alarm Clocks: Do You Need One?

I am so amazed that my husband doesn't need an alarm clock in the dead of winter. He wakes up without fail at 5:30 each morning. Even though I am usually awake before mine goes off, I could never take the chance that I would sleep through it and mess up my day. It is there as a safety net.
What about you, do you use your alarm clock, and do you need it?

I'm more like you, it's not that I don't wake up before my alarm clock, I just don't ever want to take the chance that for whatever reason my internal clock fails me.

I make a mental note to wake up at whatever time I need to get up, and I do. Every time, no matter the time, no matter how tired I am. Need to get up at 3 am for a flight, make a mental note before I go to sleep, wake up at 2:55.

I don't know how... :confused3

I still set the alarm, but it never gets a chance to go off.

Saphire, we have two kitties that look like yours only slightly different. The on in front looks like my Midden only his little black spot on his face is on his chin. The other cat looks exactly like my Bot who is merely short haired!

:cat: :cat:

I do the same thing. I go to bed at 11 and wake up every morning at 7 am. No alarm no nothing. I'm not really sure how I do it. I think your brain gets in a rhythm. Kind of like getting hungry at the same time every day or going to the bathroom (Sorry not trying to be gross).

My DH is the same way. I still set it for important events but he doesn't need it for daily living. Now getting him out of bed is a different story but he's awake!!

I need more than one. I usually set three alarms, in half hour increments.

The first one is when I (would) need to get up, shower, and eat. The second one is if I don't want to shower. The third one is the "get your *** out of bed, throw on some clothes, and run to the car so you aren't late" alarm.

I usually don't get out of bed until the third one. ;) Honestly, if I didn't have an alarm I could sleep the entire day away. I never feel completely rested.

Since I don't need to wake up till 7:30 or 8am, I haven't set an alarm in years. I am an "early to bed" type of gal, and rarely go to bed past 11pm. So waking up is never a problem.

Nope, I usually wake up a few minutes before the alarm goes off. DW cannot believe that I can do that no matter what.

If I don't set an alarm, I don't sleep. I'm too afraid I'll oversleep. My alarm does wake me up on work days. In the summer and on weekends, I don't set an alarm and it's bliss!

How do you guys get up on time when we switch the hour over for Daylight Saving Time or back to Standard time?

Same here--EXACTLY. It's really weird:upsidedow

And usually, if I have to get up extra early, I don't sleep that well. I guess in my subconscious, I'm afraid of oversleeping. This isn't so great:guilty:

Oh ya I need one. I would sleep till noon without one. I'm a serious sleeper. I must say I'm impressed by some of you that don't. That is amazing to me.

I wake up during the week with an alarm clock 5:30 am
I would never be able to get up at that time without one. On the weekend I don't use an alarm clock unless I have to be somewhere and I can usually sleep until 10 or 11 if I'm really tired.

GOD, yes. I actually set my Blackberry every night because one of the alarms on it can probably be heard several counties away, and then I have an iHome (alarm clock w/ iPod) that goes off a couple of minutes later, just in case the BB didn't do the trick. My problem is that when I oversleep, I catastrophically oversleep; we're talking in terms of multiple hours, not just minutes.
