Alamo Sold Out - Everywhere!

So I'm trying to use the Alamo insiders code and coupon for my trip Oct. 23 - 30. And Alamo is completely sold out at the airport, at the care care center, and at the Buena Vista Hotel. The desk at the Dolphin is closed when i arrive. Is it me, or is that a little weird?

Most coupons and codes are capacity controlled, once the capacity of that code is reached, the code will return back a "sold out" message or remove the code (depending on the agency/code).

Agreed.

OP, have you tried to book without a code or with another code? Alamo is not sold out, but capacity has been reached for the code you are trying to use.

Well, you learn something new everyday... and i can't seem to find ANY codes or coupons that will work (I've tried a few). Just have to keep on trying....

I just ran your dates in the insiders club with a noon pick up and drop off. It doesn't copy an paste well but you get the idea, about $330 tax and fees included. Not sold out, but ouch.



The "hot deals" should be available for your trip dates in a few more days (they list through the 27th now) and I'd expect a better rate will be in there for you.

Thank you so much! I think you're right - I won't see any great movement on price until the last minute deals become available. Of course, that won't stop me from obsessively trying every code and coupon whenever I have some spare time...

I just ran the dates with only a corporate ID (American Airlines 7014136) and the rate is 245.xx for a mid-size. I know the entertainment book has a corporate ID and plenty of coupons to bring the price down....... Mary has some ID's over at http://www.mousesavers.com/alamo.html as well.

Best of luck..... keep trying as the prices can move....... you are coming in at the end of MEA break in Minnesota, though I am now sure how many people go to Florida for those dates.....

There must be a rental car shortage-I tried over the weekend to get one here in Lexington, KY for the week. When we drive 1,000 miles or more in a week, they want us in a rental to save mileage cost.

Our company has discounts through Avis and Enterprise.
-Avis was completely sold out of everything.
-Enterprise quoted $707 for an economy for the week, $977 for a midsize SUV, which is what I need at the airport. My neighborhood location with the code was still near $100 a day.
-What few National had in stock were also over $500.

I can usually rent under $200.

It's just me, so I really only need an economy or compact. I did manage to get a pretty good price at Budget ($190 for a 7 day rental), so I may have to go with that. I prefer Alamo, but not $300 more.

I tried playing with the pick up/drop off hours at Alamo, but if I play too much it gets into an extra day, and jumps the price about $30.

Car rental agencies have been very aggressive at cutting back on their fleet size to help profitability. As travel demand continues to recover, they have been very cautious in expanding. And, so, prices have risen and inventory is tight.

Hopefully things will loosen up eventually. But for right now, expect to pay more for rental cars than you have in the past.

Wahooo! Just got an Alamo compact for $188 using the insiders code and the AA coupon! I knew singing up for every single frequent flyer club would pay off someday. So since everyone has been saying that their Alamo prices have been dropping, hopefully I can get in on that action. Thanks everyone for letting me know to keep trying different code combos - it sure paid off!
