I'm getting great rates through both but my trip is 7 months away still. Any preference or advice?

I prefer Alamo to Enterprise, but whomever has the best rates is the best choice (major companies, onsite at MCO). Make sure you sign up for their rewards programs, mostly so that you can bypass the desk at the airport, and head directly to the cars.

I honestly don't start looking out/booking until around 3 months out, then usually end up booking the best deal at around 3 days before my trip. Unlike flights, the prices typically do drop closer to the trip.

Thanks I might hold something now since we actually need a minivan and not just a standard rental.....

Enterprise and Alamo operate under the same umbrella. Any car you get could be from either company. Most of the time their check in counters are also right next to each other and their employees will help anyone renting from either company. I'd pick whichever was lowest.

I thought National & Alamo were the same. Is Enterprise part of that too?

Yes, they are all owned by Enterprise Holdings.

Good to know thanks Alamo is cheapest right now, but that has been the case for me for as long as I can remember.

I remember being younger and my parents renting from Alamo.
My first vacation to Orlando with a boyfriend we used Alamo.
Vegas I used Alamo ... very odd that all these years later they still come in at the lowest price for me!!

When I booked 3 months ago the very best rate I could get was $385, Budget, full size, 7/28-8/4. Most others were much higher! As of today I have rates of $163 with Enterprise and $151 with Dollar and those are complete costs. Make your best reservation and keep following on this board as your trip gets closer. The Enterprise was a Costco discount and the Dollar was an AAA discount.
Be patient and persistent. Someone will eventually lower prices.

they employees might help out, but, are really not supposed to cross brands. The Alamo counter is always crazy busy, so, use the kiosks. Enterprise is not as busy and they have kiosks also. You can spot the Alamo kiosks by the renters waiting in line leaning on them.
