Alamo kiosk question

I usually book under my Alamo insiders rate so that it includes a free additional driver. If you try to check in at the kiosk the screen shows that it is going to charge you $9.99 per day for the additional driver. Does anyone know if it really does? I usually just enter no to the additional driver question and then show both my and DH's drivers licenses on the way out of the lot. It seems that it would be faster if we could swipe the IDs at the kiosk.

Do you have to enter some info online before using the kiosk or can it all be done at the kiosk? I was playing with the "save time" feature on the website and using the Costco code that gives you a free additional driver I was able to add the 2nd driver without any fee. It did show $9.99 as the price of the additional driver but then the total was $0.00 at the end of the line.

If you're trying to get the additional driver and your an Insider, don't add them at the kiosk or on your reservation, do it at the booth when you're leaving with the car. When you hand the clerk your license and the hang tag tell them you have an additional driver and hand them the driver's license also.

This what we do now but it always takes forever and causes a huge back up of cars trying to exit. The additional driver is listed as included on my reservation.

I do "Save time" online and add the additional free driver, then I'll just go to the kiosk and get the printout and go directly to the exit.

The email confirmation after doing "save time" shows the additional driver's name and ($9.99/Day) but it doesn't actually add anything to the total cost because it's free with the Insider's code. This is shown in the email also: Contract I.D. Alamo Insiders Members

Quick and easy - although it would be nice if their programming logic wouldn't write the $9.99/day since they don't charge it in this case!

Please don't wait to add the driver the checkout and slow the line down. Just spend a few minutes online via "save time" ahead of time and then it will already be shown on your reservation.

Thanks! I will do this for our next trip. We always hate holding up the line.

The additional driver needs to be with you when you add him/her.

No, it does not add the add driver fee at the kiosk, it will show 9.99 on the left but, when it spits out the paper, the fee will not appear. If by some chance it does, the exit booth agent can reverse it. Any additional drivers need to be with you, btw. Your license has to be physically reviewed at the exit booth. At the bottom of the paper, it will list what is needed to be presented when you exit. IE: proof of r/t ticket if using a debit card, driver's licenses and credit/debit card.

not everyone using the Save time feature is an Insider member, so, it does show the charge but for the insiders it knows not to add them. It is called disclosure of all charges and will add the charges where applicable. The same goes for the kiosk.

I am with you on NOT adding them at the exit as it does slow down the line, but, some people don't have consideration of others. You should see how much fun it is when they want to add 5 drivers at the exit. :crazy2:
